San José, CA – On May 30, over 250 people gathered outside the Mexican Heritage Plaza in East San Jose to protest plans of an ICE processing and detention center in Gilroy and the reopening of FCI Dublin as an immigrant detention center.

Santa Ana, CA – The Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) shot and killed an unnamed 16-year-old inside his own apartment on Sunday, June 14. SAPD released multiple statements to justify the killing hours before caution tape came down or police had even left the scene. This killing happened just four and a half months after the last teenager, 18-year-old Chicano Victor Lopez, was killed by SAPD.

Sacramento, CA – Dozens of community members showed up to disrupt a city council budget hearing on June 9 in protest of the council’s failure to provide real protections for immigrants.

San Jose, CA – On Thursday June 11, San Jose Against War called an emergency action in response to Trump’s escalated bombing of Iran. The group of over 20 gathered outside of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library in San Jose with signs reading “No to war on Iran, Lebanon, & Palestine” and “Money for people’s needs, not for war and genocide!” Participants waved Palestinian and Iranian flags in solidarity with the people and counties targeted by U.S.-Israeli forces.

Los Angeles, CA – On the morning of June 11, a Chicano man was shot and killed by the California Highway Patrol. The homicide occurred on a stretch of the 101 Freeway in Boyle Heights. The freeway closed for several hours. The person who was shot was later reported to be dead. Video of the shooting surfaced online showing a CHP cop with a gun drawn on a man.

Los Angeles, CA – On June 3, Centro CSO held a press conference at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights demanding that the state keep its hands off Nadia Topete. On May 20, Topete, a Chicana immigrant rights activist with Centro CSO, was served a subpoena by the FBI demanding that she testifies in front of a grand jury. She did not appear at the grand jury proceedings, which were set for the same day.

Los Angeles – May 30 marked the two-year angelversary for Hugo Cachua, an Amazon driver who was shot six times and murdered on May 30, 2024, in Ontario, California, after a fender-bender with off-duty LAPD officer Victor Corral.

Anaheim, CA – On Saturday, June 6, Community Service Organization, Orange County (CSO OC) along with friends and family of Albert Arzola, held a protest and vigil on the six-month anniversary of his killing by Anaheim PD Officer Nathan Garcia.

The energy was high as the protest began in front of the Anaheim City Hall with chants of “Justice for Albert Arzola!” Attendees' voices echoed far and wide as spectators from the streets stopped to watch. As the march began with chants of “Nathan Garcia, lock him up!” Anaheim residents driving by honked their horns in support. The match went from Anaheim City Hall to the front of the Anaheim Police Department.

San José, CA – The Consumer Price Index rose to a three-year high, where prices of consumer goods and services were 4.2% higher than a year ago. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the inflation rate has risen for three months in a row, after the start of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. From a pre-war rate of 2.4%, consumer prices have risen ever higher, led by higher costs for gasoline.

San José, CA – On Friday, June 5, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 172,00 net new jobs were created in May. The job numbers for March and April were also revised up, making three months in a row with over 150,000 net new jobs. The official unemployment rate stayed the same as in April, at 4.3%.

Napa, CA – Across the San Francisco Bay Area, dozens of immigrant rights organizations and allies are preparing for a massive, multi-day march from June 6 to June 8, spanning from Napa to Oakland and ending in Dublin. The federal government is attempting to convert a closed women's prison in Dublin into an immigration detention center.

San Francisco, CA – On June 1, the International League of People’s Struggle spearheaded an action against two war profiteers in San Francisco, Scale AI and OpenAI. The action drew attention to the complicity that AI tech companies in the Bay Area have with genocide, U.S. warmongering and national oppression abroad.

San José, CA – On Thursday, May 28, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) of the U.S. Commerce Department released two major reports on the economy. The first was a revised report on Gross Domestic Product, or GDP. While the first (or so-called “advanced”) estimate of GDP for the first three months of the year, January through March, released at the end of April said that the economy grew at a 2% annual rate, the second estimate said that growth was only at a 1.6% annual rate, slower than the 2.1% rate of growth in 2025.

San Francisco, CA – Over 500 people gathered in the Bay Area, May 30 and 31, for the U.S. chapter of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) Third National Assembly and Political Conference. The theme of the action-packed weekend was “Advance the Peoples’ Struggle.”

Santa Ana, CA – 28 people, including residents of Coach Royal Mobile Home Park, families impacted by police killings, and members of Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC), flooded Santa Ana City Council on Tuesday, May 19.

Oakland, CA – On May 12, around 20 Oakland city workers, activists and community members mobilized to City Hall in support of civilians taking over the 38 administrative jobs currently occupied by the Oakland Police Department (OPD).

San Jose, CA – On May 16, around 150 people gathered at the Santa Clara County Government Center to celebrate the county’s 25th annual Palestinian Cultural Day. The event, sponsored by the county supervisors and the Palestinian Heritage Committee, celebrates the 30,000 Palestinian-Americans living in Santa Clara County and their contributions to the South Bay community.

San Jose, CA – On May 15, over 50 people in downtown San Jose to commemorate the 78th year since Al Nakba, “The Catastrophe,” where 750,000 Palestinians were violently displaced by Zionist forces for the establishment of the apartheid state of Israel.

San José, CA – The day after the Consumer Price Index report rose to 3.8% as compared to a year ago, the Producer Price Index, or PPI, report on April prices paid by businesses came in even hotter. The monthly increase in producer prices in April as compared to March was 1.4%, almost three times what economists predicted. As compared to April a year ago, the PPI was 6% higher.
