Seattle, WA – On January 7, organizers with Seattle Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (SAARPR), Seattle Against War (SAW), and others held an emergency rally in front of the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building to protest the ICE murder of Minneapolis resident Renee Good which had occurred that same morning. The rally was held to answer the nationwide call to action from the Legalization 4 All Network and was organized within a matter of hours.

On Wednesday, January 7th, ICE shot and killed a 37-year-old woman who was observing at an ICE raid on 34th Street and Portland Avenue. A video recorded at the scene shows at least three ICE agents surrounding the victim’s vehicle, followed by gunshots. She died at the scene.
Kenner, LA — About 60 people gathered at the North Kenner Recreational Center on Saturday, December 27 to demand an end to the city’s collaboration with Border Patrol and continued ICE raids in the region. Just two days after Christmas, the coalition of protesters showed up in solidarity from around the Greater New Orleans region, to stand with the immigrant community of Kenner.
Aurora, CO – On the morning of December 22, Jeanette Vizguerra, an immigrant rights activist detained by ICE in March of this year, was released on bond from the GEO ICE detention facility in Aurora.
In the evening of December 21, the American Friends Service Committee announced that Vizguerra had finally won release with a $5000 bond after a nine-month detention.
Minneapolis, MN – With wind chills bringing temperatures below zero, 15,000 Minnesotans took to the streets in Minneapolis on Saturday to demand ICE get out. The protest was organized by a large coalition of immigrant rights groups and unions in response to an upsurge in attacks by ICE in the past month in the greater Twin Cities area. Many of these attacks have focused on the Somali community after Trump’s racist call for mass deportations of Somali Minnesotans.
Kenner, LA — Forty people gathered at North Kenner Recreational Center on the afternoon of Saturday, December 20, to demand ICE out of the greater New Orleans area. Some protesters drove from nearby New Orleans to show solidarity with their neighbors in Kenner, which has been a target for ICE raids in recent weeks.
Los Angeles, CA – In early October, whistleblowers at White Memorial, a Boyle Heights Adventist hospital, leaked invaluable information. The whistleblowers stated that ICE agents were taking detainees from an inadequate ICE facility named “B-18” located within the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles, to the Chicano neighborhood hospital.
Santa Ana, CA – On the chilly evening of December 11, 100 community members came together to pray and pay homage to the patron saint la Virgen de Guadalupe. They prayed under hundreds of flowers and bright lights installed by Luis Cantabrana. He is a local Santanero, who has been turning his entire home into a beautiful altar for la Virgen de Guadalupe for 27 years. This year, despite the almost weekly raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Santa Ana, the tradition was celebrated widely.
Kenner, LA – On Saturday Dec 13, another pop-up protest in Kenner, Louisiana on Williams Boulevard rallied opposition to President Trump and Governor Landry’s attacks on immigrants. The crowd began as about 20 people, ballooning to almost 100 before the evening ended.
Santa Rosa, CA – On December 9, community members, faith leaders and immigrant rights organizations gathered in Santa Rosa to demand an end to all cooperation between Sonoma County law enforcement and ICE. The rally came amid heightened fear in immigrant communities due to the renewed intensification of deportations.
Portland, OR – Since the start of December, Portland Mayor Keith Wilson was confronted twice by activists from the Revoke the ICE Permit campaign over his lack of any meaningful actions against ICE.
These have been part of an ongoing effort from the campaign and Portland Contra las Deportaciones (PDXCD) to secure a meeting with him and demand an action plan for shutting down the Portland ICE facility as soon as possible.
Minneapolis, MN – On Tuesday, December 9, at least 100 immigrant rights advocates packed the Minneapolis sanctuary ordinance public hearing to demand a stronger separation between the Minneapolis Police Department and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Community members witnessed the Minneapolis Police Department assist ICE in an operation in the community on June 3 and spoke up against this collaboration.
Beaverton, OR – On Monday, December 8, hundreds of students walked out of class at 10 a.m. in Beaverton School District (BSD) to demand the district take steps to protect students from ICE. This comes after months of ICE activity in Beaverton, including the targeting of school bus stops by ICE agents.
Protests in Beaverton are heating up around what the community describes as a lack of response on behalf of the school district to ensure the safety of students from ICE. Two weeks earlier, parents and students held a protest at the BSD administrative office, where they were kicked off the grounds by police.
Minneapolis, MN – On December 8, despite subzero temperatures and snow, 300 people gathered at Mayday Plaza for a rally in solidarity with the Somali and Afghan communities in Minneapolis. The event was organized by the Free Palestine Coalition, with a wide range of grass roots organizations participating in the event.
New York, NY – On Sunday December 7, hundreds of people including parents, teachers and young students, rallied together at a public playground to demand the release of six-year-old Yuanxin Zheng, a first grader from Astoria who was recently abducted by ICE and separated from his father, who has also been detained. A day before the rally, organizers had heard from the family’s lawyer that the father, Fei Zheng, was allowed to speak with his son on the phone, but ICE still refuses to reveal the location of Yuanxin.
New Orleans, LA – On Thursday December 4, a crowd of 30 people packed the city council chamber to demand that the city stand up against ICE and Border Patrol operations in the city.
Operation “Swamp Sweep” began in New Orleans and surrounding areas this past Monday, December 1. A host of federal agents have descended on the city, including Gregory Bovino, chief of Border Patrol operations, who also made stops in Chicago and Charlotte earlier this year.
St. Paul, MN – Dozens of Minnesotans gathered in the pouring rain on Tuesday, November 25 to show their solidarity with those affected by federal immigration raids. The Trump administration is launching racist attacks through ICE in Saint Paul. Meanwhile there are no official protections for the most vulnerable against this violence.
