San José, CA – The annual updating of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS, a division of the Department of Labor) of the job creation numbers cut the annual number by 403,000 new jobs. This meant that only 181,000 net new jobs were created for the year, or only about 15,000 new jobs per month. This is the lowest annual number outside of a recession year since 2003, when the U.S. economy was in what was then named a “jobless recovery” after the 2001 recession.

Protest against ICE at the Super Bowl.

San Jose, CA – Over 1000 protesters marched and rallied during the Super Bowl LX, February 8, to demand Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) out of San José. Activists, community organizations and unions rallied against the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) threat to conduct immigration enforcement during the Super Bowl LX.

Santa Ana protest demands justice for those murdered by ICE.

Santa Ana, CA – On Saturday, February 7, Santa Ana residents gathered to honor the one-month anniversary of the murder of Renee Good by Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathon Ross. The demonstration highlighted other victims murdered by ICE including Keith Porter, Alex Pretti, Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez and Geraldo Lunas Campos.

Community demands justice for Albert Arzola.

Anaheim, CA – Ten family members and several Orange County residents demanded justice for Albert Arzola at Anaheim City Council meeting on January 26. Arzola was chased down and killed by two Anaheim police on December 6, 2025. His family demanded the immediate release of all body camera video, the autopsy report and an independent investigation into the police killing.

Santa Ana, CA – On Monday, January 26, over a dozen Santa Ana residents and activists spoke at the city council meeting to defend the Police Oversight Commission (POC). They demand that the city stop attacking the POC and preserve its ability to hold police accountable. Despite being established in 2022, the commission has not reviewed a single complaint due to delays in hiring staff and open attacks on the commission’s legal authority.

Protest against ICE kidnappings in Boyle Heights.

Los Angeles, CA – On Thursday, January 29, Centro CSO held a press conference at Mariachi Plaza denouncing the ICE raids that had happened the day before. On the morning of January 28, ICE agents assaulted and kidnapped at least six people in Boyle Heights, including fruit and flower vendors, and residents of Ramona Gardens.

San Jose, CA – On January 28, around 80 San Jose State University students gathered near the Arch of Dignity and then marched to protest against recent ICE killings and in solidarity with the ongoing struggles against federal agents in Minneapolis and elsewhere in the country.

Anaheim, CA – Las primeras filas en la cámara del Consejo de la Ciudad de Anaheim fueron ocupadas por la familia de Albert Arzola el martes 13 de enero. Portaban carteles exigiendo “Justicia para Albert Arzola”, quien tenía 19 años cuando fue emboscado por dos policías del Departamento de Policía de Anaheim, recibió un disparo por la espalda y murió el 6 de diciembre de 2025.

LA protest after the ICE murder of Alex Pretti.

Los Angeles, CA – On Saturday, January 24, Centro CSO answered an emergency call to action from the Legalization For All Network in response to ICE and US Border Patrol's second open murder in Minneapolis. Over 100 people gathered at Mariachi Plaza for a rally and vigil to stand in solidarity with Minneapolis and demand justice for Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse and community observer who was attacked and brutally murdered.

March against Trump agenda in Santa Ana, California.

Santa Ana, CA – On January 20, over 150 people packed into the street in front of the Santa Ana Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office to protest a year under Trump. The protest, organized by Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC), brought together organizers from all over Orange County. The energy in the crowd grew as they shouted chants of “ICE out of Santa Ana! ICE out of OC!” and “Trump! Escucha! Estamos en la lucha!”

Protest against Trump agenda in San Jose, California.

San Jose, CA – On Saturday, January 17, San Jose Against War (SJAW) demonstrated against Trump’s second term and one year of Project 2025.

The group gathered at a busy intersection in the heart of Silicon Valley, leading chants and holding banners and signs as afternoon commuters looked on, many honking and waving as they passed by. Protesters carried signs reading, “Legalization for all!” “Silicon Valley has blood on their hands!” and “San Jose divest from genocide.”

Los Angeles CA – On Friday, January 16, 50 protesters gathered at the corner of Eastern Avenue and 3rd Street in East Los Angeles in response to the abduction of Jose Rodolfo De León, a community member, who was working at the local car wash during an ICE sweep.

Protest demands justice for Albert Arzola in Anaheim, California.

Anaheim, CA – The front rows of Anaheim City Council chamber were filled with Albert Arzola’s family on Tuesday, January 13. They held signs demanding, “Justice for Albert Arzola,” who was only 19 years old when he was ambushed by two Anaheim PD officers, shot in the back and killed on December 6, 2025.

Eureka, CA – The Eureka city council unanimously approved a strengthened anti‑war resolution opposing U.S. military intervention in Venezuela at a special meeting held on January 12. The meeting was called under pressure from, and following sustained organizing by, the Humboldt Anti‑War Committee (HAWC), who had proposed the initial resolution in early December. During the meeting, their repeated public demand was that the city adopt clearer, stronger language opposing war.
