Dia de Los Muertos celebration in East Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, CA – On November 1, Centro CSO participated in the building of a community ofrenda (altar) at the Self Help Graphics’ 52nd annual Dia de Los Muertos Celebration in East Los Angeles. CSO’s altar honored the memories of community activists, victims of police brutality, and immigrants who have died while in ICE custody.

Community members gathered outside the DC First District Police Station to protest the wrongful arrests.

Washington, DC – Early in the morning on Sunday, November 2, Kristen Bonner, Merawi Gerima, Terra Martin and Christina Murdoch – four community activists and members of the DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR) – were released from MPD custody on the heels of wrongful arrests for using First Amendment rights.

Derek Mejia, of CSO at October 22 protest against police brutality.

Los Angeles, CA – On October 22, 200 took to the streets of downtown Los Angeles for a protest against police brutality.

Melissa Miramontes is from United Families for Justice. Miramontes is a family member of Hugo Cachua, an Amazon driver who was killed this year by Ontario Police. She stated, “But this reality is every day for us impacted families. Every day that killer cops are allowed to be free is another day our families’ heartbeats are weakened more and more. Bless all stolen lives, may this evil system crumble and be weakened by our strength and may we hold on and never lose hope.”

Attendees at police town hall meeting demand community control.

North Charleston, SC – On October 28, organizers with the Lowcountry Action Committee (LAC), a branch of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, attended a North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) Town Hall meeting to stand in solidarity with Black young people who have been brutalized by police for selling Palmetto Roses at various stores in North Charleston.

Washington, DC – The DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR) gathered with local organizers and community members outside the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) headquarters on Tuesday morning, October 28, for a press conference on an explosive federal cover-up – the shooting of an unarmed Black man.

Event held by NYC Educators For Palestine.

New York, NY – On October 24, in Midtown Manhattan the NYC Educators For Palestine convened an event to launch their divestment campaign for the new school year.

The Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) for the Ccty of New York currently holds $112million of stock in Israeli companies. The “TRS Divest” campaign, made in combination with teachers in the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) and the Professional Staff Congress of the City University of New York (PSC-CUNY), seeks to bring more teachers into the fold to organize against their retirement funds being invested in Israeli stocks, including notorious weapons manufacturers such as Elbit Systems.

Napa, California protest against ICE.

Napa, CA – Saturday morning, October 25, community members gathered outside the Home Depot in south Napa for an energetic protest against ICE’s presence in the Napa Valley and across the greater Bay Area.

The action was organized by the North Bay CSO (Community Service Organization), a grassroots group that has been leading local efforts against deportations and federal repression.

No Kings march in Oakland, California.

Oakland, CA – Over 10,000 people flooded the streets of Oakland this weekend, October 18, for the “No Kings” protest, part of a nationwide wave of resistance. From Wilma Chan Park to Lake Merritt, chants for immigrant rights, Palestine, and working-class unity shook the city.

Milwaukee protest stands with Palestine.

Milwaukee, WI – On Monday, October 20, 100 people gathered in Milwaukee for an emergency march led by the Milwaukee Anti-war Committee (MAC), protesting Israel’s violations of the recently announced ceasefire. Demands included ending all U.S aid to Israel as well as a real and permanent ceasefire, chanting “No more bombs! No more lies.”

Protesters set out down 35th Avenue on their way to the entrance of Coast Guard Island, where the Coast Guard is assisting a large Customs and Border Patrol operation.

Oakland, CA – On October 23, Trump rushed over 100 federal agents, in a long-threatened “surge” operation, to occupy the San Fransico Bay Area. So, the Community Service Organization, the Oakland Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, and over 500 Oakland residents mobilized for an emergency “Ice Out of the Bay” rally and march to take the fight directly to ICE and Border Patrol at the U.S. Coast Guard base where they were stationed.

NYC event demands cops and National Guard off the subways.

Brooklyn, NY — Transit riders gathered at Jay Street – Metrotech station around a banner with an enlarged image of MTA Board Chair and CEO Janno Lieber. Organizers from the New York Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NYAARPR) invited passersby to step on the image and share negative experiences with the MTA and police in the transit system.

Led by the DC Against the Trump Agenda (DCATA) Coalition, 50501, and Refuse Fascism, speakers addressed the growing crowd of people in honor of No Kings Day.

Charleston, South Carolina students rally against speaker from the Israeli military and in solidarity with Palestine.

Charleston, SC – On October 22, the College of Charleston (CofC) chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) staged a protest against the so-called “Combat on College” event, at which an IDF soldier was scheduled to speak.

The protest was held in the Cistern Yard in front of Randolph Hall, the college’s central administrative building. It was timed to coincide with the university-sanctioned and Hillel-sponsored Israeli propaganda operation taking place just blocks away at the College’s Jewish Studies Center.

New Orleans, LA – On Wednesday October 22, dozens of people rallied in front of City Hall for a protest against police brutality. Directly affected families spoke out about corruption and neglect in the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), demanding that the Public Integrity Bureau be held accountable for failing to hold officers accountable.

Baton Rouge, LA – On No Kings Day, October 18, over 1500 people took to the streets to stand against the Trump administration in Baton Rouge. In one of the largest demonstrations Baton Rouge has seen, the huge mass of people marched along Perkins Road, chanting and carrying signs and banners denouncing Trump.
