Protest in Denver following the ICE killing of Renee Good.

Denver, CO – On January 7, 250 people gathered outside the GEO ICE detention facility in response to the killing of Renee Good by an ICE agent. Good was observing an ICE raid in Minneapolis, one of Trump’s target cities in his campaign to escalate his deportation agenda.

Fort Worth, Texas protest after the ICE murder of Renee Good.

Fort Worth, TX – Over 800 community members gathered on Saturday, January 10 for an ICE Out of Fort Worth protest at General Worth Square. The protest was announced shortly after the murder of Renee Nicole Good at the hands of ICE in Minneapolis.

Appleton, Wisconsin protest following the ICE murder of Renee Good.

Appleton, WI – On Friday, January 9, over 300 people flooded the streets of downtown Appleton for a vigil and rally to demand justice for Renee Good and an end to ICE raids across the country. This somber event came in response to the murder of Renee Nicole Good at the hands of ICE agent Jonathon Ross, just two days ago.

Austin, Texas protest against the ICE murder of Renee Good.

Austin, TX – On Friday, January 9, around 150 people rallied in front of the gates of the Texas Capitol building in protest of the killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis two days earlier.

The Austin Immigrant Rights Action Committee and Austin Students for a Democratic Society called the action. 

Jesse Valdelamar from the Austin Immigrant Rights Action Committee kicked off the action with a series of chants including, “No cages! No cages! No raids! No raids!”

Protest in Tampa, Florida after ICE shooting in Portland.

Tampa, FL – On Friday afternoon, January 9, the Tampa Immigrants’ Rights Committee held a second emergency rally in front of Tampa City Hall in as many days to protest yet another ICE shooting, this time in Portland, Oregon. About 30 people attended the event.

Two Venezuelan immigrants, Luis David Nino-Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras, were shot and injured when a Customs and Border Patrol agent fired into the car during a traffic stop. The activists demanded justice for those murdered by ICE and federal agents, as well as getting ICE out of their community.

 Tampa protest demands justice for Renee Good.

Tampa, FL – On Thursday, January 9, over 100 Tampa community members rallied in solidarity and protest against the murder of Renee Nicole Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis. The event was held at Tampa City Hall.

The event was organized by Tampa Bay Students for a Democratic Society and the Tampa Immigrants’ Rights Committee. The protest called for ICE out of everywhere, stop the deportations, justice for all murdered by ICE, and justice for Renee Good. The crowd chanted “ICE off our streets,” “Say her name! Renee Nicole Good!” and “No troops on the ground, no ICE in our streets, end 287(g)!” Several drivers passing by the event honked and cheered in support.

Grand Rapids, MI – 200 community members rallied in Calder Plaza on the evening of Thursday, January 8 to demand justice for Renee Good, a woman who was observing ICE agents in Minneapolis on Wednesday and was murdered by ICE officer Jonathan Ross.

Jacksonville SDS drops a banner demanding a sanctuary campus.

Jacksonville, FL – On Wednesday, January 7, students at the University of North Florida gathered for a banner-drop demanding the school be declared a sanctuary campus. The demonstration, organized by the Jacksonville chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), was the latest in a long line of protests against the university’s cooperation with ICE.

NYC protest follows ICE killing of Renee Good.

New York, NY – On the evening of January 8, over 2000 people gathered in Foley Square, across the street from the ICE headquarters in New York City, to protest the murder of Renee Good at the hands of ICE agent Jonathan Ross.

The protest was called by the New York Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NYAARPR), who just launched the ICE Out! FEDS Out! Campaign. It was endorsed by NYC Ice Watch, Nodutdol for Korean Community Development, Brooklyn Against War, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, and NYU Students for a Democratic Society.

Protesters hold signs demanding ICE get out of New Orleans and justice for Renee Good.

New Orleans, LA – On Thursday, January 7, a crowd of about 200 people gathered at Lafayette Square for an emergency protest against the ICE killing in Minneapolis of 37-year-old mother and poet Renee Nicole Good.

The action was called within hours of the shooting. Protesters carried signs demanding justice for Good, and slogans such as “Killer ICE off our streets.”

Dallas protest against the ICE murder of  Renee Good.

Dallas, TX – Over 1000 community members gathered Thursday evening, January 8 at Dallas City Hall to protest the murder of Renee Nicole Good by ICE in Minneapolis and to demand ICE out of Dallas.

Attendees marched around downtown Dallas calling for the Dallas Police Department to stop working with ICE. The protest was called by the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression-Dallas (NAARPR-Dallas).

Minneapolis rally demands justice for Renee Good.

Minneapolis, MN – At about 10 a.m. on January 7, ICE agents swarmed Portland Avenue and 34th Street, preparing for an operation despite Minneapolis’ new stronger separation ordinance. An observer was sitting in her car when ICE agents swarmed her while yelling aggressively. One agent came to the front of her car with his gun, and shot her in the head through her windshield, killing her. The victim has been identified as Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother.

Milwaukee vigil honors Minneapolis women murdered by ICE.

Milwaukee, WI – In response to the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good at the hands of ICE agents, over 350 people gathered for an emergency vigil, January 7, outside of the ICE Enforcement and Removal offices at 310 E Knapp Street. Emotions ran high as community leaders spoke out against the newest round of raids in Minnesota, calling for ICE out of everywhere.

Tacoma, Wshington protest following the ICE murder of Renee Good.

Tacoma, WA — On January 7, over 50 community members gathered in the cold to mourn the loss of Renee Good, a community member shot and killed by ICE agents as she was observing an ICE raid in south Minneapolis.

The rally opened with the crowd chanting “We want justice, we want peace, we want ICE off of our streets.”

“Tacomans are outraged by what has happened! We will not stand by as ICE murders the people who are showing up to protect our neighbors,” said Ian Freeman, a member of Climate Alliance of the South Sound.

Seattle protest after the ICE murder of Renee Good.

Seattle, WA – On January 7, organizers with Seattle Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (SAARPR), Seattle Against War (SAW), and others held an emergency rally in front of the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building to protest the ICE murder of Minneapolis resident Renee Good which had occurred that same morning. The rally was held to answer the nationwide call to action from the Legalization 4 All Network and was organized within a matter of hours.
