Charleston, SC – On October 22, the College of Charleston (CofC) chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) staged a protest against the so-called “Combat on College” event, at which an IDF soldier was scheduled to speak.
The protest was held in the Cistern Yard in front of Randolph Hall, the college’s central administrative building. It was timed to coincide with the university-sanctioned and Hillel-sponsored Israeli propaganda operation taking place just blocks away at the College’s Jewish Studies Center.
Jacksonville, FL – On Wednesday, October 22, students at the University of North Florida gathered to protest the proposed Florida House Bill 113, which seeks to pressure all colleges in the state to rename a road after Charlie Kirk.
Austin, TX – On October 20, roughly 200 students, faculty and community members took to the streets at the University of Texas at Austin to reject Trump’s “Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education”. This march followed on the momentum of an earlier rally which took place on October 13.
Milwaukee, WI – On October 11 and 12, over 250 New Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) members from over 40 campuses met for their 19th annual National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Students gathered from all over the country to stand together to “Fight Trump’s Agenda, Speak Out for Palestine, No ICE on Campus & Defend Free Speech!” and bring together the combined struggles that student organizers are facing on their campuses.
These stories come from students facing repression from administration due to their Palestine solidarity work as well as ICE kidnapping students on campuses. Attendees listened to informative panels and workshops on a variety of topics, including from “The Student Vanguard: Korean Students in the Long Struggle Against U.S. Empire” presented by Nodutdol.
New Orleans, LA – On October 16, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) hosted a “No Troops, No Trump” emergency rally and spoke out at both Tulane University and at Loyola University New Orleans in response to a national day of action called by National SDS.
New Orleans, LA – On October 15, nearly 100 students at Loyola University New Orleans packed a student senate meeting to protest the chartering of a Turning Point USA chapter. Turning Point USA (TPUSA), co-founded by Charlie Kirk, is known for spreading racism, misogyny and transphobia on college campuses.
San José, CA – Despite midterm exams, San José State University students protested outside the Martin Luther King Jr. Library, October 16, against Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops into Chicago and other cities. Organized by Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), the action brought together university students and activists from community organizations.
Denver, CO – On October 15, Denver Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) hosted multiple letter-writing events, encouraging students to write letters to demand that Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) protect students from the ongoing threat of ICE on their campus.
