Protest in Santa Ana, California after the murder of Alex Pretti.

Santa Ana, CA – On January 24, nearly 100 community members from across Santa Ana gathered on the corner of Bristol and 1st Streets chanting “Killer ICE, off our streets!” The protesters demanded justice for Alex Pretti, the latest victim of killer federal agents terrorizing Minnesota. They also demanded ICE out of Orange County and an end to deportations across the country.

Santa Ana, CA – El sábado 7 de febrero, los residentes de Santa Ana se congregaron para conmemorar un mes desde el asesinato de Renee Good a manos del agente de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE), Jonathon Ross. Santa Ana protest demands justice for those murdered by ICE.

Santa Ana, CA – On Saturday, February 7, Santa Ana residents gathered to honor the one-month anniversary of the murder of Renee Good by Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathon Ross. The demonstration highlighted other victims murdered by ICE including Keith Porter, Alex Pretti, Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez and Geraldo Lunas Campos.

Santa Ana, CA – On Monday, January 26, over a dozen Santa Ana residents and activists spoke at the city council meeting to defend the Police Oversight Commission (POC). They demand that the city stop attacking the POC and preserve its ability to hold police accountable. Despite being established in 2022, the commission has not reviewed a single complaint due to delays in hiring staff and open attacks on the commission’s legal authority.

Santa Ana, CA – En la brumosa mañana de jueves, 12 activistas y residentes del condado de Orange se reunieron frente al Tribunal Superior del Condado de Orange para exigir justicia para Imanol González, un joven residente de Santa Ana quien fue atropellado y asesinado por el sargento Carlos Coronel, agente de policía de Los Ángeles fuera de servicio, el 1 de febrero de 2025.

March against Trump agenda in Santa Ana, California.

Santa Ana, CA – On January 20, over 150 people packed into the street in front of the Santa Ana Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office to protest a year under Trump. The protest, organized by Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC), brought together organizers from all over Orange County. The energy in the crowd grew as they shouted chants of “ICE out of Santa Ana! ICE out of OC!” and “Trump! Escucha! Estamos en la lucha!”

Santa Ana protest demands justice for Imanol Gonzalez.

Santa Ana, CA – On a misty Thursday morning, 12 activists and residents of Orange County met outside the OC Superior Court to demand justice for Imanol Gonzalez, a young Santa Ana resident who was struck and killed by off-duty LAPD Sergeant Carlos Coronel on February 1, 2025.

Protest in Santa Ana, California after the ICE murder of Renee Good.

Santa Ana, CA – On Friday, January 9, about 300 protesters chanted “Justice for Renee Good” and “ICE out of Santa Ana” at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Field Office on Civic Center. They held a spray painted banner that read “Fuck ICE!” and signs reading “We demand justice!”

The protest occurred at the historic intersection where just last year a large protest took place against the inauguration of Donald Trump.

CSO del Condado de Orange atiende una mesa informativa en un evento en honor a La Virgen de Guadalupe.

Santa Ana, CA – En la fría noche del 11 de diciembre, 100 miembros de la comunidad se reunieron para orar y rendir homenaje a la Virgen de Guadalupe, su santa patrona. Oraron bajo cientos de flores y luces brillantes instaladas por Luis Cantabrana. Él es un residente de Santa Ana que lleva 27 años transformando su casa en un hermoso altar dedicado a la Virgen de Guadalupe. Este año, a pesar de las redadas casi semanales del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE) en Santa Ana, la tradición se celebró ampliamente.

Orange County CSO tabling at an event honoring La Virgen de Guadalupe.

Santa Ana, CA – On the chilly evening of December 11, 100 community members came together to pray and pay homage to the patron saint la Virgen de Guadalupe. They prayed under hundreds of flowers and bright lights installed by Luis Cantabrana. He is a local Santanero, who has been turning his entire home into a beautiful altar for la Virgen de Guadalupe for 27 years. This year, despite the almost weekly raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Santa Ana, the tradition was celebrated widely.

Altar at angelversary for Noe Rodriguez.

Santa Ana, CA – The curbside of Casa Linda Furniture was transformed as community members and activists gathered to honor Noe Rodriguez on December 1, the anniversary of his death. Last December Santa Ana Police Officers Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra confronted Rodriguez while he was having a mental health crisis, gave three commands in English only, and fired 29 bullets at the unarmed Chicano.

Santa Ana activists demand community control of the police.

Santa Ana, CA – On November 22, Santa Ana community members rallied in front of the city attorney’s office to defend the powers of the Santa Ana Police Oversight Commission. The city has been trying to gut its powers, despite incidents pointing to the need for more oversight of the police and other agencies.

Santa Ana, CA – El 1 de noviembre, la Organización de Servicio Comunitario del Condado de Orange (CSO OC) respondió al llamado a la acción de la Red de Legalización para Todos y participó activamente en un gran evento del Día de los Muertos en el centro de Santa Ana. Cientos de Chicanos se reunieron para honrar a sus ancestros y construir grandes altares a lo largo de la Calle 4, y CSO OC los acompañó para exigir la legalización de todos los indocumentados, el cese de las deportaciones, la expulsión del ICE de los tribunales, el control comunitario de la policía y el encarcelamiento de los policías asesinos.

CSO OC members petitioning at Dia de Los Muertos

Santa Ana, CA – On November 1, Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) responded to a call to action of the Legalization for All Network and agitated at a huge Dia de los Muertos event in downtown Santa Ana. Hundreds of Chicanos came to honor their ancestors and build huge altars along 4th Street, and CSO OC was with them to demand legalization for all of the undocumented, stop the deportations, ICE out of the courts, community control of the police, and jail killer cops.

Santa Ana, California rally in solidarity with Palestine on October 7.

Santa Ana, CA – On October 7, over 30 people crowded on the busy street corner of Bristol Avenue and McFadden Street to protest the ongoing genocide in Palestine. They carried signs supporting an end to the siege on Gaza, calling for a victory to the Palestinian resistance, ending U.S. aid to Israel and defending the Freedom Flotilla.

The protest, organized by Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) kicked off with chants of “Free, free Palestine!” and “When Palestine is under attack, what do we do? Stand up! Fight back!” which was met with honks and cheers of support from passing drivers. The chanting continued as the protesters took to the street and marched between each of the corners on the intersection, bringing the message directly to the commuters.

David Pulido demands justice for Noe Rodriguez.

Santa Ana, CA – On September 16, Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) members demanded justice for Noe Rodriguez and protested attacks on the Police Oversight Commission at a city council meeting. Though the city faces two lawsuits related to the police killing of Noe Rodriguez, city staff have tried to ignore the incident. CSO OC has made that effort unsuccessful.

Santa Ana, California press conference demands remote hearings for immigration cases.

Santa Ana, CA – On Friday, September 12, approximately 50 activists, community members and public officials gathered in front of the Santa Ana Immigration Court to demand that the judges reinstate universal remote hearings, which was done during the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees held a banner reading “Stop ICE arrests at the court.”
