Miami, FL- Around 30 people, largely from the small but well-organized group Progressive Colombians Miami, gathered at the Torch of Friendship in Miami to take part in an international day of action called for by Colombia Humana. The August 7 Day of Action denounced the ongoing right-wing violence in Colombia that is being committed against former guerillas, progressives, human-rights activists, unionists, and farmers by government-supported paramilitaries. Hundreds have died since the supposed peace-deal was signed by now former-president Santos two years ago.
Miami, FL – About 500 activists rallied and marched in downtown Miami to demand an end to the deportation, detention and separation of immigrant families. Protesters marched from Miami Dade College to Freedom Tower, demanding an end to Trump's cruel and racist immigration policies. Activists chanted, listened to poignant speeches, and held signs that read, “No one is illegal on stolen land” and “Keep families together.”
Miami, FL – Union members and leaders gathered at Bayfront Park in Miami Feb. 24, to rally for workers’ rights, immigrant rights and inter-union solidarity. Workers pledged to fight against anti-union laws and court cases. Unions in attendance included Broward Teacher Union, United Teachers of Dade, AFSCME Local 199, IBEW and SEIU 1991.
Miami, FL – On June 25, at 5 p.m., protesters will take to the streets of Doral, Florida in front of U.S. Southern Command to demand that Trump shut down the torture prison at Guantanamo Bay once and for all. The march coincides with the International Day in Solidarity with Victims of Torture and will mark the 15th year since the first detainees were sent to the U.S. prison facilities in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Since then, 779 men have been sent to Guantanamo Bay without trial and have been jailed without ever having been officially charged with any crime.
Hundreds of protesters took over the streets of downtown Miami Saturday afternoon. Feb. 4. The large crowd marched from Bayfront Park to the Miami Dade Courthouse behind a banner that read “Dump Trump.” The march was organized by the Anti-Trump Action Committee (ATAC), whose demands included; reinstating Miami as a sanctuary city, undoing the immigration ban, no construction of any wall along the border, and no use of nuclear weapons.

She came to speak in support of the peace process between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), taking place in Havana, Cuba. Quintero emphasized that a just and lasting peace is crucial for the Colombian labor movement to grow and flourish.

Fernandez presided over the constitutional change producing the outrageous “TC 168-13” ruling. This high court ruling strips thousands of Dominicans of their nationality, affecting mostly people of Haitian descent.

The sadness and outrage from witnessing such death has caused a global outcry from the socially-conscious of the world, especially because, as the thousands of now-destitute refugees risk their lives and leave their entire worlds behind them, some of the the richest nations on the globe have locked their doors and secured their borders.

Raichel is an outspoken proponent of the Israeli Defense Force and of Israel’s occupation of Palestine, and has performed in illegal Israeli settlements and for the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).
