Venezuela: FRSO joins celebration of the life of Augusto Sandino
Caracas, Venezuela – The delegation from the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) attended a ceremony in the 23 de Enero neighborhood in Caracas for the 90th anniversary of the “Plan to Realize the Great Dream of Bolivar.” The Plan was written by Nicaraguan revolutionary Augusto Sandino during his armed struggle against the U.S. occupation of his country. Among the event's attendees was Yaosca Calderon Martin, the Nicaraguan ambassador to Venezuela, along with veterans of the Sandinista struggle in the 1970s and 1980s.
The event was organized by the Coordinadora Simon Bolivar, a revolutionary organization based in 23 de Enero. The ceremony began with a wreath-laying ceremony at a statue of Sandino, along with the singing of the national anthems of Venezuela and Nicaragua, and a singing of the hymn of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN). It was followed by a presentation of the ideas of Sandino, in the headquarters of the Coordinadora, and a lively discussion about the ongoing struggle to build Latin American unity and drive out imperialism once and for all.
The Freedom Road Socialist Organization has a delegation in Venezuela working to build connections with the revolutionary movement of the country, and to form fraternal relations with its political parties.
