New York, NY – On March 14, outside the Martin Luther King Educational Campus in Lincoln Square, unionized teachers, parents, students and community members, led by the Movement of Rank and File Educators/United Federation of Teachers Caucus (MORE Caucus) in collaboration with the organization Climate Families, held a protest against the NYC Department of Education’s push for AI in public school curriculum.

New York, NY – On March 12, around 20 NYU students and faculty picketed at the front of the Kimmel Center, where the university senate was set to take place. The Students for a Democratic Society at NYU organized the picket to demand a sanctuary campus.

Brooklyn, NY – Organizers from the New York Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression held a speakout in Sunset Park on Saturday, March 14, just blocks away from the Metropolitan Detention Center, where up to 200 immigrants are being held by federal agents. The event was part of the group’s recently-launched “ICE Out” campaign, continuing the momentum established at mass rallies earlier in the year.

International Women's Day march in Brooklyn, New York.

Brooklyn, NY – On March 8, close to 80 people marched to the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) to commemorate International Women’s Day and demand the kidnapped First Lady of Venezuela, Cilia Flores, be released by the Trump Administration. Cilia Flores was kidnapped alongside her husband, Venezuelan President Maduro, in the January 3 U.S. attack on Venezuela.

Brooklyn Against War event on Venezuela.

Brooklyn, NY- On Friday evening, February 27, dozens of Brooklyn community members gathered for a special screening of the 2003 documentary The Revolution Will Not be Televised—a film that captures first hand the failed, U.S.-backed coup attempt in 2002. The event was held in collaboration with the venue, The Boyfriend Co-op, a queer leftist organizing space and cafe.

New York, NY – On February 20, over 30 NYU students and faculty gathered near Garibaldi Plaza during a rainy day to demand NYU become a sanctuary campus.

The rally was organized by the Students for a Democratic Society chapter at NYU (NYU SDS) with a dozen other student organizations endorsing the action.

New York, NY – On February 18, NYU Langone announced that it would cut gender-affirming care for trans youth. In a statement, the hospital said, “given the recent departure of our medical director, coupled with the current regulatory environment, we made the difficult decision to discontinue our Transgender Youth Health Program.”

Teachers protest at United Federation of Teachers headquarters demanding more action to defend immigrants.

New York City, NY – On Wednesday February 11, in the frigid cold of Manhattan’s financial district, rank-and-file unionists held a speakout in front of United Federation of Teachers headquarters, while the union’s monthly delegate assembly was being held. The action sought to put pressure on union leadership to do more to support immigrant students, families and staff from ICE attacks.

New York, NY — Over 1000 New Yorkers took the streets on January 27 after the execution of Alex Pretti by Border Patrol in Minneapolis a few days before. Since Pretti’s murder, hundreds of thousands of people around the country have mobilized despite a winter storm to defend their neighbors and fight back against racist attacks by federal agents.

New York, NY – The United Federation of Teachers (UFT) led a Midtown Manhattan rally and march of thousands through the bitter cold in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis, January 23. Many major local labor unions endorsed and attended the action, as well as many other progressive organizations.

Brooklyn, NY – There was a full house in the community room of the Macon Library in the heart of Brooklyn January 17, for a reportback from Venezuela. For their monthly general member’s meeting, the NYC district of Freedom Road Socialist Organization hosted two organizers who visited Venezuela in December 2025.
