Dallas, TX protest opposes attacks on immigrant rights.

Dallas, TX – On July 29, around 15 immigrant rights protesters gathered at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Dallas Field Office to protest harsh conditions undocumented migrants are being put through on the border. The protest comes shortly after reports were made from a whistleblower in Border Patrol about extremely cruel policies towards undocumented migrants ordered by the office of the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, whose policy demands that migrants crossing the Rio Grande River into Texas be thrown back into the river, as well the construction of a barricade of buoys in the river that have razor wire on them, these buoys have resulted in the drowning or serious injury of many undocumented migrants, including children and a pregnant woman.

Dallas Teamsters at practice picket.

Dallas, TX – On July 19, Teamsters and their supporters gathered at the UPS hub in Dallas to practice picketing for a possible strike this upcoming August 1. The strike would come at the end of a contract that contained inadequate pay and safety provisions for drivers and other workers. Teamsters practiced picketing and chants, such as “No pay, no work,” “What do we want? A contract! When do we want it? Now!” and “UPS, show me the money!” After practicing to picket, participants gathered to take a group photo together.

Dallas protest against police crimes.

Dallas, TX – On January 28, over 50 people gathered in Civic Garden Park in Downtown Dallas to protest the brutal murder of Tyre Nichols by police in Memphis, Tennessee. The rally was organized by the National Alliance Against Racism and Political Repression-Dallas.

Dallas, TX – On Saturday, November 26, more than 60 activists gathered at the Pan-African Connection bookstore in Dallas to celebrate People's Thanksgiving, a celebration honoring those who struggle against imperialism, capitalism and national oppression.

Dallas protest defends DACA.

Dallas, TX – On November 6, protesters gathered at Dealey Plaza to demand the continuation of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), a U.S. immigration measure that protects from deporation immigrants who came here as children, and which is now threatened by the right-wing Supreme Court. The protest was called by La Frontera Nos Cruzó.

Vigil in solidarity with Palestine.

Dallas, TX – On Saturday, August 13, 50 people raised Palestinian flags and held candles at the Grassy Knoll in downtown Dallas. They gathered to pay respects to the 49 Palestinians killed by Israel. Israel bombed people in Gaza, Palestine from August 5 to August 7.

Dallas, TX – On June 24, around 1000 people rallied at Civic Garden Park in downtown Dallas to protest the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. This removes the right to legal and safe abortions in practically over half of the U.S. states. Here in Texas, one of the first states to pass the so-called “heartbeat bill,” abortion is now criminalized. Texas is threatening to charge women, and anyone else involved in an abortion, with murder.

March for abortion rights in Dallas, TX.

Dallas, TX – On Saturday, May 7, around 200 people gathered at Civic Garden park in downtown Dallas to protest the leaked Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, thus allowing over half of U.S. states to ban abortion completely. Chants present at the rally included “When abortion is under attack, what do we do? Stand up fight back!” and “Healthcare is a human right!”

Dallas rally in solidarity with Palestine.

Dallas, TX – On January 23, around 100 people showed up at Civic Garden Park in downtown Dallas to protest the continuing eviction of the Palestinian neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in East Jerusalem and the continued blockade of Gaza. They also called attention to the “afforestation campaign” by the Jewish National Fund in the Al-Naqab Desert, which is intended to displace Palestinian Bedouin communities living in the region.

Rally at Dallas City Hall demands justice for murdered Indian student leader.

Dallas, TX – On January 16, progressives gathered downtown at Dallas City Hall to demand justice for Dheeraj Rajendran, an engineering student and member of the Student Federation of India, a mass student movement connected to the Communist Party of India (Marxist), murdered in the Indian state of Kerala by members of the Kerala Students Union and the youth wing of the Indian National Congress.

Dallas, TX – On April 11, Omar al-Bashir, the military leader of Sudan for over 20 years, from 1989 to 2019, was deposed in a military coup. The coup occurred amidst largescale protests calling for the overthrow of al-Bashir, demanding democracy and an end to austerity measures enacted by the government in response to the country being over $60 billion in debt to the International Monetary Fund and France.

Dallas, TX – On November 21, around 50 people gathered at Civic Garden across the street from the Earle Cabell Federal Building in downtown Dallas to protest the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse, who murdered anti-police brutality protesters Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and severely injured protester Gaige Grosskreutz in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The rally was called by the Dallas Alliance Against Racism and Political Repression (DAARPR).

Dallas rally in solidarity with Palestine.

Dallas, TX – On September 19, about 50 people gathered in Belo Garden Park in Downtown Dallas to support six Palestinian political prisoners who recently escaped from Israeli detention, and to call for the freedom of all Palestinian political prisoners. The rally was organized by Palestinian Youth Movement, American Muslims for Justice in Palestine, and Students for Justice in Palestine. Chants included “Intifada! Intifada! Long live the Intifada!” “We don't want two states! We want '48!” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

Dallas march against police crimes.

Dallas, TX – On April 18, about 90 people rallied at Dallas city hall to protest recent police killings such as the murder of Daunte Wright and Adam Toledo. The rally was called by the Dallas Alliance Against Racism and Political Repression. Speeches were first held with DAARPR co-chair Jennifer Miller giving a passionate speech about her fears as a Black mother of an autistic child, “What happens when my son stops being a cute black boy and becomes a Black male threat. My son is Tamir Rice, my son is Trayvon Martin, and so many more.”

Texas protest against normalization with Zionist occupation of Palestine.

Arlington, Texas – On September 20, over 50 people gathered at Masjid Dar El Eman, an Islamic center, for a car protest against the United Arab Emirates’ and Bahrain's normalization of relations with Israel. The car caravan was organized by the Dallas Palestine Coalition; Palestinian Youth Movement-Dallas, Muslim Democratic Caucus-Texas; American Muslims for Palestine-Texas; Code Pink-Greater Dallas, and Veterans for Peace-Dallas.
