NYC protest: "No war on Venezuela!  No troops on our streets!

New York, NY – On November 22, 150 people gathered in the heart of the New York financial district to demand, “No U.S. war on Venezuela!” The action took place at one of the buildings owned by Donald Trump, steps away from the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street.

“Not a penny, not a dollar! We won’t pay for war and slaughter!” and “No troops on the ground, nor bombs in the air! U.S. out of everywhere!” chanted Michela Martinazzi of the Central Committee of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO).

NYU students protest against Trump's attacks on higher education.

New York, NY – On November 13, members of the Students for a Democratic Society rallied in front of the Kimmel Center at NYU, the building where the University Senate meeting was taking place. They rallied to demand NYU do not comply with Trump’s attacks on higher education.

New York, NY – On November 7, over a dozen students joined a rally led by the NYU Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), with endorsements from several other student and faculty organizations. The rally was called in as a part of the National Day of Action called by the Students Rise Up coalition, a coalition of the Sunrise Movement, SDS, and others to fight back against Trump and his attacks on higher education.

Event held by NYC Educators For Palestine.

New York, NY – On October 24, in Midtown Manhattan the NYC Educators For Palestine convened an event to launch their divestment campaign for the new school year.

The Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) for the Ccty of New York currently holds $112million of stock in Israeli companies. The “TRS Divest” campaign, made in combination with teachers in the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) and the Professional Staff Congress of the City University of New York (PSC-CUNY), seeks to bring more teachers into the fold to organize against their retirement funds being invested in Israeli stocks, including notorious weapons manufacturers such as Elbit Systems.

New York Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression \[NYAARPR\] contingent at No Kings protest.

New York, NY – On October 18, hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers gathered in Times Square to protest the Trump administration. The “No Kings” protest took up dozens of city blocks on two streets, making it one of the largest protests in NYC history.

New York, NY – On October 8, in Midtown Manhattan the MORE Caucus (Movement for Rank and File Educators) of the United Federation of Teachers held its first general assembly of the school year at The People’s Forum. The assembly gathered with a focus on immigrant rights, specifically, protecting immigrant students from ICE raids in and around schools.

New York, NY – The National Security Agency (NSA) was set to participate in an upcoming career fair at NYU on October 8. Their participation prompted the NYU Students for a Democratic Society to launch an initiative to have them removed from the fair.

New York, NY – On October 7, over 500 New Yorkers rallied in front of the Fox News headquarters to demand an end to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and to honor the second anniversary of Al Aqsa Flood. Within our Lifetime, a NYC based pro Palestinian group organized the rally.

New York, NY – on the evening of Saturday, September 27, around 50 people gathered outside the Philippines Consulate in New York City to confront corrupt diplomats. Organized by BAYAN Northeast, the rally began at around 8 p.m. on a warm and balmy night.

NYC solidarity event includes Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil.

New York, NY – The packed Assembly Hall at the prestigious Riverside Church in Manhattan, was draped in Venezuelan colors and flags of resistance on Thursday, September 25.

The exciting solidarity event with Venezuela resounded with drumming and chants throughout the evening. A well-organized security ensured that the meeting went forth without disruption or interference.

NYC rally against transit fare increase.

New York, NY – On Sunday, September 21, around 50 people rallied near Prospect Park in Brooklyn to demand a stop to all fare increases and the expansion of the “fair fares” discounted fare program. The MTA board is scheduled to vote on a fare increase at their monthly board meeting on September 30.

New York City – This Thursday, September 25, lucky people are gathering in Manhattan for a historic evening to recognize the global struggle for peace and liberation.

Two high-profile speakers from Venezuela will present their political views: Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil and Blanca Eekhart, president of the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity Among Peoples. Both will be attending a meeting at the United Nations that week, as well as the Riverside event.

Brooklyn, NY – On September 6, The New York Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NYAARPR) hosted a town hall in Crown Heights to discuss community experiences with the NYPD and ways to fight back against police terror on the subway system. The town hall was held at Another World community center, which emerged from mutual aid efforts started as the Crown Heights CARE Collective in 2022.

The rally was part of a National Day of Action organized by Nodutdol, an organization of Koreans in the U.S. fighting for the national liberation and reunification of Korea.

New York, NY – On the afternoon of June 28, dozens of organizers and activists gathered in the heart of Times Square, in the same plaza as the U.S. Army’s Times Square Recruiting Station, to oppose the attacks on Iran.

Internationally, the day of action was called by Global Resistance for Peace and Justice. In New York, the action was organized by the Bronx Anti War Committee.

New York, NY – On June 29, upwards of 2500 New Yorkers gathered at the AIDS Memorial for the 7th annual Queer Liberation march which was organized by the Reclaim Pride Coalition. The Queer Liberation March is organized to reclaim pride and honor its militant history. It is organized to counter the annual Pride March which takes place on the same day but has become a stage for corporations, cops and liberal politicians to whitewash the legacy of the struggle for queer rights.
