Gainesville, FL – Demanding Congress vote no on U.S. military intervention in Syria, 70 protesters gathered in Turlington Plaza at the University of Florida, Sept. 6.
Minneapolis, MN – More than 50 people met with Congressperson Keith Ellison at the Masjid An-Nur mosque in North Minneapolis, Sept 6. This was meant to be a low profile, private ‘listening session’ with 20 invited people – the vast majority in favor of bombing Syria. Although discouraged by Ellison’s office and told there would be no opportunity to speak, 30 anti-war activists mobilized on very short notice and succeeded in speaking.
Minneapolis, MN – As the U.S. Congress prepares to vote on the war resolution sought by the Obama administration, peace and anti-war groups have called for a protest in Minneapolis on Sept. 7 to speak out against a new war.
Hands off Syria!
Minneapolis, MN – More than 175 people demonstrated in front of the office of U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar to oppose a U.S. military attack on Syria. The protest was initiated by the Minnesota Peace Action Coalition and was endorsed by the Anti-War Committee, Twin Cities Peace Campaign, Veterans for Peace, Women Against Military Madness and others.

Asheville, NC – Over 50 people rallied in downtown here, Aug. 31, to protest the looming military intervention in Syria. Protesters chanted “No justice, no peace, U.S. out of the Middle East!” and held banners and signs demanding “Hands off Syria!”
Los Angeles, CA – Centro CSO and Latinos Against War and the community hit the streets on August 29 – the anniversary of our Chicano Moratorium Memorial Day of Resistance against war. Protesters demanded no U.S. war on the people of Syria and the Middle East and called for ending military recruitment aimed at our Latino and immigrant youth.

Jacksonville, FL – More than 70 Syrian Americans and their allies in rallied in Jacksonville's downtown Hemming Plaza on Aug. 29 to oppose U.S. intervention in Syria. The rally was part of the “Hands Off Syria Day,” which was a national day of action called by the Syrian American Forum in response to the growing threat of U.S. intervention in the Syrian Arab Republic.
Los Angeles, CA – Under the slogan “Education not war!” Boyle Heights community members participated in a townhall meeting to commemorate the Chicano Moratorium Day of Resistance. The event was sponsored by California State University, Los Angeles MEChA and the Community Action Taskforce on Chicano Studies Education (CATChE).
Miami, FL – Over 50 people gathered here, Aug. 29, to protest any further U.S. military intervention in Syria. The protest took place at the Torch of Friendship along Biscayne Bay as part of a national day of action to oppose the U.S. war against Syria.
Chicago, IL – Over 300 people rallied and marched here, Aug. 29, to say, “Hands off Syria!” in response to the U.S. threat of a military attack. Half of the people present were Syrians of all backgrounds – Christians and Muslims, Assyrians and Arabs.
Anti-war action on anniversary of the historic Chicano Moratorium
Los Angeles, CA – “We must protest publicly the threatened U.S. military attacks against the people of Syria and denounce the government and media lies used to justify a missile attack. We must also continue to expose the U.S. military targeting the poor – especially Blacks and Chicanos – for recruitment,” states veteran Chicano and anti war activist Carlos Montes.
