Éste 20 de Noviembre se llevarán a cabo manifestaciones y marchas a nivel nacional en México demandando justicia para los normalistas caídos y desaparecidos de Ayotzinapa. Hace dos meses, el 26 de septiembre, estudiantes normalistas en el estado de Guerrero, México fueron atacados por la policía municipal de Iguala. Tres normalistas fueron asesinados y 43 fueron secuestrados y entregados al cartel Guerreros Unidos y probablemente asesinados.

On Nov. 20, there will be nationwide protests in Mexico demanding justice for the Ayotzinapa Teacher College students. Two months earlier, on Sept. 26, students from the teachers’ college in the state of Guerrero, Mexico were attacked by police. Three students were killed and 43 others were arrested and turned over by the police to a Mexican drug gang and probably killed.

Gainesville, FL – On the evening of Nov. 13, University of Florida (UF) students held a Peoples’ Eulogy for the 43 Mexican students presumably murdered by police and drug gangs who were colluding with local and state politicians. Local police in Iguala, Guerrero, kidnapped the students, now known as the 43, on Sept. 26.

Minneapolis vigil in solidarity with missing Mexican students

Minneapolis, MN – 50 students and community members gathered for a vigil Nov. 11 in solidarity with the 43 disappeared – and likely murdered – Mexican student activists in Ayotzinapa. The vigil was in front of Coffman Student Union at the University of Minnesota (UMN). Students held signs with the names and pictures of each of the 43 missing students, along with a banner that read, “Say no to repression!” in several languages.

Huntsville, TX – On Jan. 22 at 6:00 p.m., the State of Texas is planning to execute Mexican national Edgar Tamayo by lethal injection. The planned execution has sparked intense controversy and a broad international movement demanding that Texas halt the execution. Texas has executed far more people than any other state in the U.S., a disproportionate number of them Black and Latino.

MORENA-MN protesta la privatizacion de Pemex.

Saint Paul, MN – Más de 75 personas se unieron para decir “Pemex no se vende!” en una protesta aquí el 24 de agosto afuera del consulado mexicano y denunciaron la estratagema del presidente mexicano Enrique Peña Nieto para privatizar la compañía estatal de petróleo, Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex). La protesta fue organizada por la sección en Minnesota de la organización mexicana MORENA (Movimiento Regeneración Nacional). MORENA está encabezando un movimiento en México y en el resto del mundo para parar la privatización de Pemex. La protesta contó con la participación de varios oradores y del grupo de danza azteca Kalpulli Ketzalcoatlicue. Los manifestantes exigieron que un oficial del consulado saliera para recibir su carta y firmas en contra de la privatización de Pemex. No fue posible ignorar la protesta y un oficial salió para hablar con los manifestantes, comprometiéndose a compartir las demandas con sus superiores.

MORENA-MN protests privatization of Mexican national oil company

Saint Paul, MN – More than 75 people came together to say “Pemex is not for sale!” at a protest outside the Mexican consulate here on Aug. 24. They denounced Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto’s scheme to privatize the Mexican state-owned oil company, Pemex (Petróleos Mexicanos).
