Milwaukee, WI – 350 people took to the streets here, Nov. 25, upon hearing that Ferguson’s killer cop Darren Wilson was not indicted for the shooting of unarmed teenager Mike Brown. This was the latest protest in Milwaukee against police murder and violence. In a case similar to Ferguson, Milwaukee Police Officer Christopher Manney shot unarmed 32-year-old Dontre Hamilton 14 times in a downtown park in April of this year. Dontre Hamilton was doing nothing wrong. An active and growing movement is calling for the arrest of Manney.
Jacksonville, FL – More than 30 people from the Jacksonville community gathered in Hemming Plaza downtown here, Nov. 24 to protest the Ferguson grand jury verdict and demand justice for Michael Brown.
Minneapolis, MN – An estimated 5000 people marched here, Nov. 25, in the wake of the Ferguson, Missouri grand jury decision to not indict the cop who murdered Mike Brown.
Tampa, FL – Over 60 people gathered at the Hillsborough Courthouse located on Twiggs Avenue in downtown here Nov. 25, to protest the injustice against Mike Brown of Ferguson, Missouri. Lightning, thunder and a constant downpour could not stop protesters from expressing their anger.
Tallahassee, FL – Nearly 100 protesters marched on the streets of Tallahassee the night of Nov. 24. The protest was in response to the Ferguson grand jury failure to indict officer Darren Wilson for killing Mike Brown. The protesters’ message was clear as they chanted, “Indict, convict, send that killer cop to jail, the whole damn system is guilty as hell!”
Milwaukee WI – Dozens of people gathered on Nov. 24 at Red Arrow Park, downtown Milwaukee, anticipating the failure to indict Officer Darren Wilson in the murder of Michael Brown. Activists decorated a nearby park Christmas tree with posters in support of victims of police violence. Red Arrow Park is the site of the killing of African American youth Dontre Hamilton by a Milwaukee Police Officer earlier this year.
Chicago, IL – Over 200 people gathered in front of Chicago Police headquarters, Nov. 24, awaiting the verdict from the grand jury in the Michael Brown murder case. Frank Chapman, an organizer with the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, who spent some 14 years in prison for a murder he did not commit, addressed the crowd.
Detroit, MI – The National Lawyers Guild (NLG) has filed a motion to be admitted as amicus curiae in the case of Rasmea Odeh, to support the request by Rasmea Odeh’s attorneys that the court reconsider its decision to deny her bond pending sentencing on March 12, 2015.
New York, NY – Protesters converged on Federal Plaza here, Nov. 15 to demand justice for Palestinian American leader Rasmea Odeh. The protest was called by Students for Justice in Palestine groups from across the city. It was backed by Al-Awda NY: the Palestine Right to Return Coalition, American Muslims for Palestine, BAYAN USA, Committee to Stop FBI Repression, International Action Center, U.S. Palestinian Community Network, Revolutionary Student Coordinating Committee and others.
Salt Lake City, UT – Activists rallied in front of the Wallace F. Bennett Federal Building on Nov. 16, as part of a national week of action in support of Palestinian American leader Rasmea Odeh. Participants were urged to write letters of support to Rasmea Odeh, now in Saint Clair County Jail, Port Huron, Michigan. Supporters are also making donations to her defense fund. St. Louis, MO – Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has declared a state of emergency. According to reports, the National Guard is heading to Ferguson. Citing the “possibility of expanded unrest,” government authorities are moving to contain the expected massive protests that will result if the grand jury fails to indict the white cop who killed Mike Brown, an African American youth.
Milwaukee, WI – Over two dozen people gathered here in freezing temperatures the night of Nov. 14 to stand in solidarity with Rasmea Odeh and demand she be released from jail.
Detroit, MI – Supporters of long-time Palestinian American leader Rasmea Odeh are planning a protest here at the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse, 231 W Lafayette Blvd, Nov. 14, at 1:30 p.m., to demand her immediate release from jail.
Oakland, CA – Activists with the Bay Area Rasmea Defense Committee chained themselves to doors of the federal courthouse here, Nov. 12 to protest the conviction and imprisonment of 67-year-old Palestinian community organizer Rasmea Odeh.
Detroit, MI – Prosecutor Jonathan Tukel of the U.S. Attorney’s Office is asking that the bond for Palestinian American leader Rasmea Odeh be revoked. This comes on the heels of an unjust guilty verdict in her case. Judge Drain will decide the issue in a hearing at 2:00 p.m. today, Nov. 10.
