We might also think of its fabulous museums, concert halls and cultural life. One thing we might not think of is that Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin and even Josef Stalin all had an important relationship to the City of London. Across the city, one can find all sorts of interesting places related to the history of Marxism and the workers' movements.

Coast to coast and north to south: On behalf of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), the Standing Committee sends its greetings to the working people of the United States of America and the world! What a year it was: from the January protests at the inauguration of Donald Trump as president and the massive and historic Women’s Marches, to the closing days of December where immigrant youth protested Trump’s ending of the DACA (Deferred Action for Children Arrivals) which put hundreds of thousands of undocumented at risk of deportation, this has been a year of people’s struggle!

In a New Year address, Korean leader Kim Jong Un talked about the need to develop the industries and agriculture of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and stated, “Let us launch a revolutionary general offensive to achieve fresh victory on all fronts of building a powerful socialist country!”

The hashtag was created by African-American activist Tarana Burke ten years ago, and gained traction again amidst the Weinstein allegations. With this campaign, victims of sexual assault told their stories of sexual abuse and harassment to shed a light on the frequency of sexual violence in the U.S. and globally. French women created their own hashtag “#BalanceTonPorc” or “Expose Your Pig.” Since Weinstein, numerous other celebrities have been outed as sexual assailants and predators.

New York, NY – Over 100 people gathered here on Nov. 7 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution. The event was in honor of the win by the Bolsheviks in 1917, in which the working class seized power from the capitalists and overthrew the tsarist monarchy to form the Soviet Union.

Tallahassee, FL – On Nov. 7, members of the Tallahassee community gathered for an event at the Plant Community Arts Center to celebrate the October Revolution, which took place exactly 100 years earlier on Nov. 7, 1917.

On Oct. 31, the leaders of the reactionary opposition announced that their parties will boycott the upcoming municipal elections and will expel any of their members that register to run or vote. They also expelled their four governor-elects who swore loyalty to the National Constituent Assembly, signaling that the reactionary forces are abandoning the electoral path. This has happened in the midst of the harshest price inflation in the past few years. Bolivarian revolutionary forces are recognizing the signs and preparing to defend their gains and advance to new ones. On Oct. 28 and 29, the 7th National Meeting of Revolutionary Organizations was held in Caracas, an effort by Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist People’s Unity (UPRA) to build unity among the Bolivarian revolutionary organizations. The gathering happened in the context of ongoing efforts to deepen the Bolivarian Revolution inside the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), to deal with an increasingly violent reactionary opposition, as well as threats of imperialist violence from the Trump administration.
