Protesta pro-Palestina en San Salvador, 11 de julio 2014

San Salvador, El Salvador – Manifestantes se concentraron frente a la embajada de Israel en San Salvador el 11 de julio para expresar su solidaridad con el pueblo palestino, y para protestar el ataque militar de Israel en Gaza. Los manifestantes mostraron banderas palestinas y carteles condenando el ataque de Israel contra los palestinos. Esa fue la segunda protesta ésta semana frente a la embajada de Israel aquí. Uno de los organizadores de la protesta de hoy, Logan Kenpo, dijo, “nosotros aquí en El Salvador, hicimos una convocatoria de jóvenes, estudiantes de la Universidad de El Salvador, amigos de facebook entre otros y hemos decidido concentrarnos acá en repudio a la masacre y al silencio y la injusticia que sufre el pueblo palestino y al genocidio que impulsa el gobierno de Israel apoyado por el gobierno de Estados Unidos.”

Milwaukee protest in solidarity with Palestine

Milwaukee, WI – Over 400 people rallied in solidarity with Palestinians who are resisting the wave of Israeli violence here, July 11. Protesters spoke out against the ongoing bombings in Gaza, kidnappings and murders in the West Bank and the continued illegal occupation of Palestine. They demanded an end to the $3.1 billion the U.S. provides to Israel every year.

Tampa, FL – 60 people gathered outside the office of U.S. Senator Bill Nelson at the Sam Gibbons Federal Courthouse July 11. They were there to demand Senator Nelson actively support bringing home Tariq Khdeir, the 15-year-old Tampa resident brutally beaten and arrested by Israeli police while in Jerusalem.

St. Paul, MN – About 250 supporters of Palestine rallied here, July 11, to protest Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza. More than 100 people have been killed by Israeli airstrikes over the last several days. These air attacks often target homes. There are indications that Israel is preparing for a ground invasion of Gaza.

Protest in San Salvador for Palestine, July 11, 2014.

San Salvador, El Salvador – Protesters gathered in front of the Israeli embassy in San Salvador on July 11 to express solidarity with the Palestinian people, and to protest against Israel's military assault on Gaza. The protesters waved Palestinian flags and held signs condemning the attack on Palestine. This was the second protest in front of the Israeli embassy here this week.

Thousands protest in Chicago, July 9, against U.S / Israeli attacks on Palestine

Chicago, IL – Several thousand Palestinians and their supporters rallied and marched here, July 9. This was the second such protest this week. Angered by Israel’s military assault on Gaza, this protest was even larger than the previous outpouring, which had been held to condemn the murder of Muhammad Abu Khdeir, who was burned alive by a vicious group of Israeli settlers.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL – Over fifty people protested U.S. backed Israeli violence on July 6 at the U.S. Federal Building in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. The Israeli government is using airstrikes and the army to attack Palestinians. In tandem, Israeli settlers kidnapped, tortured, and burned to death a teenager. Then an Israeli police intelligence unit was caught on video, brutally beating a fifteen-year-old boy from Tampa, Florida.

New York, NY – In front of 35 members of the United Nations Correspondence Association (UNCA), Ambassador Dr. Bashar Jaafari of the Syrian Mission hosted a report-back, June 18, by five members of the U.S. delegation of election observers who had traveled to Damascus for the June 3 presidential elections. Included among the election observers were Joe Iosbaker of the Anti-War Committee-Chicago; Paul Larudee of the Syrian Solidarity Movement; Jane Stillwater, a freelance journalist; Scott Williams of the International Action Center and Judy Bello of New York’s Upstate Coalition to Ground the Drones and End the Wars. Both Bello and Iosbaker are also members of the administrative committee of the United National Antiwar Coalition.

Damascus, Syria – Election observers gathered June 4, the day after election day, to discuss what they had seen and adopted a statement that the elections were democratic and wished the Syrian people a new stage of stability, national unity and reconciliation. Parliamentarians from 11 countries officially participated as observers, including Russia, Iran, Tajikistan, Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and The Philippines. There were also journalists, anti-war and international solidarity activists from Canada, the U.S., Ireland, Pakistan, Malaysia and Bahrain.

Election rally in Homs

Homs, Syria – In an emotional day, mixed with sadness for the loss of life and a celebration of victory, the people of Homs, Syria came out to vote in their presidential election, June 3. Outside many polling places, hundreds of people gathered to rally, chant and dance dabke, the traditional dance of Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. The celebratory mood was because in the past month, the armies backed by the U.S., NATO, Israel and the Gulf states that had been fighting in the Old City of Homs were finally driven out.

Damascus, Syria – Ten people from the U.S., Canada and Ireland have traveled to Syria to observe the presidential elections taking place here June 3. Our delegation is mainly anti-war and international solidarity activists who are members of organizations including the International Action Center, Syria Solidarity Committee, the Anti-War Committee-Chicago, the United National Antiwar Coalition and the International Solidarity Movement. We are hosted by a Iranian non-governmental organization, the International Union of Unified Ummah (Muslim community).
