Minnesota protest says: ‘End Israeli terrorism’
St. Paul, MN – About 250 supporters of Palestine rallied here, July 11, to protest Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza. More than 100 people have been killed by Israeli airstrikes over the last several days. These air attacks often target homes. There are indications that Israel is preparing for a ground invasion of Gaza.
Sabry Wazwaz, of the Minnesota Anti-War Committee, urged rally participants to step up the efforts to support Palestine.
One of the protest organizers, Sarah Martin of the Women Against Military Madness (WAMM) Middle East Committee, stated, “The demonstration was one of hundreds around the world to oppose the latest brutal and criminal Israeli bombing of Gaza and to stand in solidarity with the heroic people of Palestine who continue to resist the Israeli occupation and horrific assaults.”
The protest was called by the MN Coalition for Palestinian Rights and the WAMM Middle East Committee.
Another demonstration in solidarity with Palestine will take place July 14, 4:30 pm on May Day Plaza (301 Cedar Ave. South)
Meredith Aby-Keirstead of the Anti-War Committee states, “It is important that we are prepared to escalate our protests because Israel is considering escalating as well. There is serious talk of Israel sending in ground troops. We know that will be a disaster and a blood bath. We need to keep up the pressure to cut off Israel's money, weapons, and support from the U.S.”
