‘Resist From Day One’

Minneapolis, MN – A broad coalition of more than 40 organizations will join together in the streets of Minneapolis on inauguration day, Jan. 20, to resist the Trump administration’s agenda. There will also be massive protests at the inauguration in Washington D.C. and in cities around the country.

Miami, FL – On Jan. 20, inauguration day, the people of South Florida will join with people across the country to denounce Donald Trump’s xenophobic agenda. The protest will take place outside of Bayfront Park, in Miami at 6pm.

Los Angeles, CA – A major march against Trump is set for Jan. 20 in Boyle Heights. It is one of many around the country that will coincide with President-elect Trump’s inauguration in Washington DC. Boyle Heights protesters will assemble at 11 a.m. at Mariachi Plaza. They will march to Olvera Street, rally at Olvera, and then march to City Hall to join the other rallies.

One of the first things that Donald Trump said that he would do as president is repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) also known as Obamacare. The ACA has dramatically reduced the number of Americans without health insurance, from more than 41 million in 2013 to less than 29 million two years later, a drop of 13 million people. A repeal of the ACA would increase the number of uninsured by 20 million people, so the that number of uninsured would rise to record levels.

Jacksonville, FL – On Dec. 8, President-elect Donald Trump announced fast food executive Andy Puzder as his pick for Secretary of Labor. Puzder is the CEO of CKE Restaurants, which owns Hardee's, Carl’s Jr. and several other national chains.

Wisconsin protest greets Trump.

West Allis, WI – 50 protesters rallied in zero-degree weather outside the entrance to Donald Trump's ‘Thank you tour’ at the Wisconsin State Fair Park on Tuesday night, Dec. 13. The anti-Trump activists stood in the entrance to the park as Trump supporters were forced to walk through the protest to enter the Trump speaking event. After Trump supporters insulted a woman carrying a protest sign, the protesters chanted, “Pussy grabbing is not okay!”

Minnesota march against Trump on International Human Rights Day.

Minneapolis, MN – Dec. 10 marks International Human Rights Day. The Minnesota Anti-War Committee had a short rally at Lake Street and Nicollet Avenue, followed by a march of 200 people to denounce Trump's agenda of hate and racism.

General James “Mad Dog” Mattis

Jacksonville, FL – On Dec. 1, president-elect Donald Trump announced that he plans to appoint retired Marine General James “Mad Dog” Mattis for Secretary of Defense. Trump made the announcement at a ‘victory rally’ in Cincinnati, Ohio, celebrating his election last month.
