The Dallas Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression brought about 2500 people to the streets of downtown Dallas May 30 to protest for justice for George Floyd and Atatiana Jefferson. The protest was eventually broken up when police attacked it with dozens of tear gas canisters, rubber bullets and concussion grenades.

Dallas protest demands cancellation of rents and mortgages.

Dallas, TX – On Saturday, April 25, cities and towns around the country mobilized for a National Day of Car Protests to demand the cancellation of all rents and all mortgages for homeowners, small landlords and small businesses for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis. Demands included halting payments for utilities and internet, as well as implementing hazard pay for all essential workers.

Dallas, TX – About 400 people gathered in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas on January 4 to denounce the looming war with Iran and to demand that the U.S. leave the Middle East. The event was organized by the Dallas Anti-War Committee, the Dallas Peace and Justice Center, Code Pink, Veterans for Peace, the Center for American Islamic Relations and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. Attendees were members of a broad array of organizations, including Malaya Movement, En Pie de Lucha, Democratic Socialists of America, and the Emma Goldman Book Club.

Texas protested against anti-Muslim repression in India.

Dallas, TX – On December 22, about 1000 people gathered at Dealey Plaza in Dallas to protest the Indian Citizenship Amendment Act. The protest was called by the Indian American Muslim Council of Dallas.

Dallas protest against border concentration camps.

Dallas, TX – About 100 protesters gathered at Dealey Plaza in Dallas in the evening of July 2 to demand an end to the Trump administration's immigrant concentration camps. After the rally, the protesters marched through downtown Dallas.

Dallas, TX – Activist groups in Dallas are calling a rally at the Grassy Knoll, 7 p.m., July 2, that will demand the closure of President Trump’s concentration camps where refugees and immigrants are detained. There will be speakers from peace and justice, immigrant, and socialist groups.

Pan-African Connection owner Akwete Tyehimba addressing the forum.

Dallas, TX – About 20 people came to Pan-African Connection in Oak Cliff, Dallas, May 9, to show solidarity with Cuba and Venezuela, and brainstorm ways to organize against imperialist threats against them from the U.S. government. Akwete Tyehimba of Pan-African Connection hosted the forum. Many of the participants were from local socialist groups but others said they were unaffiliated.

Dallas, TX – On February 25, the North Texas Action Committee held a vigil for Trayvon Martin in downtown Dallas. Several speakers discussed the lasting impact of the Martin case as well as other murders of African Americans, nationally and in the Dallas area. “We can't let their stories disappear. We have to continue to say their names,” said NTAC president Syd Loving.

Dallas protesters display  "Palestinian lives matter" banner.

Dallas, TX – On February 19, about ten people with the Dallas Palestine Coalition gathered at the SMU Cox School of Business to protest an event titled “Texas’ Looming Water Crisis: How Israeli Tech Could Save the Day.” The tech event was meant to encourage sales of Israeli technology – products built on stolen and occupied Palestinian lands.
