Freedom Road Socialist Organization calls for International Women’s Day events
Minneapolis, MN – Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) is organizing events celebrating International Women’s Day in cities across the U.S. The events will take place on or around March 8.
“This year has seen the movements for justice rise to the center of the country's political conversation. Women are at the front and in the background of these struggles. Liberation cannot be achieved if half of the world’s people are oppressed, for that reason I say that the liberation of women is part of the centerpiece of the liberation of working people,” states FRSO Political Secretary Steff Yorek.
“We urge people to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8, to mark the struggles of women for women and all oppressed people,” continued Yorek.
Building to the fight to get Justice for Rasmea Odeh will be a theme of many of the International Women’s Day events. Odeh, who has made many contributions to the struggles for justice and liberation, is veteran Chicago Palestinian American leader who is facing jail and deportation on a trumped up immigration charge.
