Minneapolis, MN – Jan. 20 was a day of national Inauguration Day Anti-Trump protests. The Resist from Day One Coalition, a coalition of over 80 Twin Cities local and grassroots organizations, brought 6000 people to march and rally to reject the Trump administration’s dangerous agenda. The day included a long march with three separate rallying points, until the final stop at the Hennepin County Government Center Plaza, which is also known as People’s Plaza.
Washington DC – Speaking to a protesters assembled in Columbus Circle, Jan. 20, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization Political Secretary Steff Yorek said, “We need to stay in the streets the entire four years opposing Trump and making the country ungovernable.”

Boston, MA – Food service workers at Northeastern University announced that they will be walking off of the job at 12:00 noon on Jan. 20, in protest of President-elect Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant and anti-worker policy proposals. The one-day, mid-contract work stoppage will continue through the rest of Inauguration Day. The workers are members of UNITE HERE Local 26, the same union which led a 22-day strike of food service workers at Harvard University last October.

200 workers from “Hallmark” garment factory were striking during last week, demanding their unpaid wages. Their wages should have been paid on 5th January, the official factory pay day. During the last days the workers agreed to accept a written promise that wages would be paid no later than January 12. Until yesterday the employers instead of paying the wages, they announced that they will cut the wages for the days of the strike.
Georgia January 20 Coalition demands Atlanta declare itself a sanctuary city
On Jan. 20, the Georgia January 20 coalition will hold a People’s Inauguration, demanding that the City of Atlanta declare itself a sanctuary city by addressing a list of demands to protect the human rights of our communities. Los Angeles, CA – A major march against Trump is set for Jan. 20 in Boyle Heights. It is one of many around the country that will coincide with President-elect Trump’s inauguration in Washington DC. Boyle Heights protesters will assemble at 11 a.m. at Mariachi Plaza. They will march to Olvera Street, rally at Olvera, and then march to City Hall to join the other rallies.
Minneapolis, MN – On Jan. 3, the opening day of Minnesota’s legislative session, the Welfare Rights Committee (WRC) will hold a ‘Day of Reckoning’ protest to demand that politicians end their war on the poor. After a short noon outdoor rally at the state capitol building, low-income people and their supporters will march in formation to every legislator’s office to send a message.
