<![CDATA[Vigil for those murdered by ICE.

Franklin Park, IL – Community members came together, February 7, in a powerful action to honor the lives stolen by the racist terror of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Over 25 people gathered at Casa DuPage Workers Center in Wheaton, for the collective construction and decoration of three altars for the martyrs Silverio Villegas González, Renee Good, and Alex Pretti.

!--more--

The event was organized by Casa DuPage Workers Center, with support from ALMAS - Alliance of Latinos Motivating Action in the Suburbs, and Latin Chamber of Commerce of DuPage. They acted in response to the national call for demonstrations issued by the Legalization for All Network, marking one month since the murder of Renee Good at the hands of ICE and demanding justice for all those murdered by ICE.

Participants created paper flowers, papel picado (colorful paper with designs cut into it), paintings to keep the martyrs’ memories alive, and symbolism and slogans to represent them and their involvement in the struggle.

The partner of Villegas Gonzalez, Blanca Mora, also attended the event. Through tears, she thanked the assembled participants for their support while her family continues to grieve. Blanca put on Silverio’s favorite music while the altars were constructed.

Later, the crowd moved to Franklin Park, to the location where González was murdered by ICE, for a candlelight vigil. The air was filled with the chants of the mass movement: “El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!” “Silverio vive, la lucha sigue!” “ICE mata!” and of course “Chinga la migra!” The demand was clear and unified: ICE out, end raids and deportations, and send the murderous agents to prison.

“Silverio, Renee, and Alex are alive compañeros! They are alive in our struggle for justice! They remind us to fight and keep fighting until their murderers are in jail!” declared Cristobal Cavazos, executive director of Casa DuPage Workers Center. Cavazos connected the mass struggle now being waged to the cultural traditions of the Day of the Dead, stating “We the living have not forgotten Silverio Villegas Gonzalez, Renee Nicole Good, or Alex Jeffrey Pretti, we remember them, and we carry on their struggle, and in this way, they are resurrected.”

The event demonstrated that collective grief and healing foster a commitment to fight back. As the crowd dispersed, a group photo was taken and participants vowed to work together to cultivate a culture of resistance.

#FranklinParkIL #IL #ImmigrantRights #InJusticeSystem #ReneeGood #AlexPretti

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

The rally also uplifted the demand of legalization for all immigrants.

A crowd of about 40 people rallied around as chants for “No more deportations!” and “¡Chinga la migra!” rang through the park. Consistent protests and noise demonstrations are appearing to be effective - on January 26, Gregory Bovino, the so-called “Commander-at-Large” of the United States Border Patrol was relieved of his Minnesota command by President Trump.

Chris Maldonado of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) spoke out about Bovino’s demotion, exclaiming, “People like Bovino shouldn’t just be allowed to step down; they should be thrown under the jail!”

The Trump administration has wielded ICE terror as a means to silence dissent and instill fear under the guise of law and order. Maldonado continued, “This violence and terror is fundamental to how the billionaire ruling class maintains its order and grows its profits.”

Palestine solidarity activist Sruly Heller of New Orleans Stop Helping Israel’s Ports (NOSHIP) said, “The only law and order that exists in America is the reality of what happens between you and a police officer.”

“We uplift legalization for all as a demand of our movement because no one should be criminalized for migration. Many of our immigrant brothers and sisters from Latin America and elsewhere are fleeing the consequences of U.S. imperialism: sanctions, unlivable wages and super exploitation, or otherwise.
<![CDATA[Chicago protest on the one month anniversary of the ICE murder of Renee Good.

Chicago, IL— Hundreds of protesters gathered in downtown Chicago’s freezing wind on Saturday, February 7 to honor one month since the murder of Renee Good at the hands of ICE and to demand justice for those killed by ICE. The protest was called by the Coalition Against the Trump Agenda in response to a national call for action from the Legalization for All Network.

!--more--

In Chicago, the demand for justice and accountability is targeted at Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen Burke, who has consistently stood on the side of corrupt and violent police officers and against the people’s movements.

A week ago, prompted by the growing public demand for ICE accountability, Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order directing the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to watch for illegal activity by ICE agents and report felony charges to the State’s Attorney at the mayor’s direction. Burke opposed the order in an internal memo to her staff, calling it "inappropriate," and claiming it would interfere with her office’s ability to prosecute federal agents.

Nick Sous, an organizer with the Arab American Action Network (AAAN), called out Burke’s hypocrisy in his remarks at the protest, “The only thing in the way of Eileen Burke prosecuting killer cops or ICE agents is Eileen Burke.”

In her first week in office in December 2024, Burke dropped the charges against Oak Lawn Police officer Patrick O’Donnell, who had helped beat Arab youth Hadi Abuatelah within inches of his life, along with two other officers in 2022.

Johnnie Showers, a member of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression and wife of wrongful conviction survivor Devon Showers, also spoke at the protest. Showers has seen the corruption of CPD and the state’s attorney’s office firsthand in her struggle to free her husband and called for solidarity in the fight to hold both ICE and CPD accountable.

Showers said that ICE and CPD are “working together against us, the working class, the ones that pay their bills,” Showers said. “They are kidnapping us and killing us in the jails. So we need to stand in solidarity and make sure we stop them. We need to fight back.”

Marien Casillas Pebellón, executive director of the West Suburban Action Project (PASO), addressed the crowd and raised the collective demand for accountability for the continued violence on the part of ICE agents and the entire Trump administration against our communities.

“We want ICE out of everywhere,” Pebellón said. “We want those in charge prosecuted. They accuse us of being criminals. The criminals are in the White House right now”

Angel Naranjos, a leader in the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, closed the rally with spirited remarks, “If the past few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that things must change and they must change fast.”

Naranjos continued, “Donald Trump and his corporate media love to say that we are domestic terrorists when we confront ICE—that we should protest peacefully.
Washington DC protest demands justice for all victims of ICE terror

<![CDATA[Anti ICE protest in Washington DC marks one month anniversary of Renee Good murder.

Washington, DC – On Friday, February 6, DC organizations joined the call from the Legalization for All network for a National Day of Action in solidarity with the ongoing struggle against ICE terror in Minneapolis and across the country.

!--more--

Around 50 community members, organizers and activists were out in the street demanding “ICE out!” “Justice for all victims of ICE terror!” and “Legalization for all!” with temperatures well below freezing. Protesters faced down federal and local police. The people were not deterred and protested right up to the barricades of ICE headquarters.

The National Day of Action fell one month after the cold-blooded murder of community observer Renee Good. The DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR), alongside Families Not Feds (FNF), Movimiento Migrante DC, Youth Demand Action, 50501DC, Freedom Road Socialist Organization – DC, and DC Against the Trump Agenda Coalition, hosted the action outside ICE headquarters in Southwest DC.

A member of DCAARPR told the crowd, “This is an ICE Out rally; we want to, and need to kick ICE out of our city, but we also need to keep ICE out. Just a few minutes from here, there is a plan to build another ICE headquarters. It is no coincidence that this is happening in Southeast, a historically Black and brown section of the city.”

He also discussed the case of Phillip Brown, a Black man, who was shot at by a Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) officer, and barely escaped with his life. There is concrete evidence that the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) covered up for HIS.

A member of Anakbayan DC stated, “Renee Good is another victim of a corrupt, unjust system that treats human beings as disposable. It is a system that has been upheld by both parties and several administrations with our taxpayer dollars. Her murder is a reminder that the government does not care about us.”

Many of the participating organizations have been on the ground in DC leading mass mobilizations against ICE and, more broadly, the racist and reactionary Trump.

The protest finished with a speech by Cameron McLaren, an organizer with Freedom Road Socialist Organization – DC., who stated, “We are fighting for a system where no human is illegal, and that starts with legalizing everyone. Legalization for all! We have a collective duty in this moment to stand together, to unite all who can be united, and to fight for a future that belongs to all of us.”

#WashingtonDC #DC #ImmigrantRights #ICE #L4A #ReneeGood #KillerICE #DCAARPR #FNF #MMDC #YDA #FRSO

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

Chicago unions and immigrant rights groups’ press conference in solidarity with MN

<![CDATA[Chicago trade unions and other progressive forces stand in solidarity with Minneapolis.

Chicago, IL - on Friday morning, January 23, nearly 100 people packed into Casa Michoacan for a press conference and rally. In solidarity with the broad coalition shutting down the Twin Cities that same day, speakers demanded the conviction of Jonathan Ross for murdering Renee Good, ICE out of Minnesota, and no more federal funding for ICE.

!--more--

Speakers connected the crimes of ICE in Minnesota with the terror they have inflicted across the country, specifically mentioning the murders of Keith Porter Jr in Los Angeles and Silverio Villegas Gonzalez in Franklin Park, IL.

“It’s about time that we recognize in our neighbors faces that we are part of one body of one nation. And if one of us is missing, then all of us are missing,” declared Marién Casillas-Pabellón, executive director of the West Suburban Action Project (PASO).

“Minnesota, we stand with you. We have cried with you, and we will not let the tears be the end of it. Because we have power.” Casillas-Pabellón added.

Like the actions in Minnesota, the press conference represented a wide coalition of organizations that fight for working and oppressed people. Representatives shared actions they would be taking to bring the demands to local elected officials and branches of corporations.

“Outrage alone does not change conditions. Organizing does,” said Genie Kastrup, president of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1.

Kobi Guillory, a middle school science teacher and executive board member of the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU), spoke about actions CTU, SEIU, and other organizations would be taking against Target that afternoon.

“Our siblings in the Minneapolis Federation of Educators are protesting Target for their complicity with ICE abductions in their stores. We will be out at ten different Targets around the city today,” Guillory explained. Target in particular is under fire after two Target employees were kidnapped from a Target store in Minnesota while the corporation refused to protect them.

“There’s power in this room and there’s power in the streets. We won’t stand idly by as they separate families,” affirmed Veronica Castro, Deputy Director of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR). Castro and other speakers encouraged listeners to take action by joining organizations in preparation for further ICE escalation.

“If CBP tries to come in thousands then our response has to be just as organized, just as widespread, and just as ready,” said Any Huamani, immigration defense coordinator with Brighton Park Neighborhood Council.

Organizers affirmed their commitment to fight to abolish ICE, defeat the Trump agenda, and create a better world.

“We won’t let Trump take us back to 1850, nor will we go back to 2015.
Chicago, IL – on Friday morning, January 23, nearly 100 people packed into Casa Michoacan for a press conference and rally. In solidarity with the broad coalition shutting down the Twin Cities that same day, speakers demanded the conviction of Jonathan Ross for murdering Renee Good, ICE out of Minnesota, and no more federal funding for ICE.

We will keep fighting until our children have the safe, just, fully funded communities they deserve,” Guillory proclaimed.

<![CDATA[On January 24, ICE agents shot a second Minneapolis community observer to death. MIRAC held a massive vigil.

Minneapolis, MN – ICE has committed its second open murder of 2026 in the Twin Cities, with the fatal shooting of a legal observer on Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis on the morning of January 24. The Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee (MIRAC), quickly had members on the scene to document and began planning a vigil for the fallen community member.

The shooting was witnessed and documented by several bystanders, some of whom were then detained by ICE. In a widely circulated video from one bystander, five to six ICE agents can be seen swarming, tackling and pistol-whipping a community member. As the civilian kneels, surrounded by agents, one agent shoots him. The agents then begin to back up, and at least one of them shoots the community member several more times as he lies motionless on the ground.

!--more--

Local authorities have since confirmed that the victim is dead. The Star Tribune has identified him as 37-year-old Alex Jeffery Pretti of Minneapolis.

This killing comes after the January 7 murder of Minneapolis resident Renee Nicole Good, who an ICE agent shot multiple times after she stopped her car to document agents’ activities in her South Minneapolis neighborhood. The next week, ICE agents nonfatally shot a Minneapolis resident in North Minneapolis.

At all three incidents, and throughout the surge of ICE brutality that has terrorized Twin Cities communities, local law enforcement, including Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) and Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, have responded to ICE violence by acting as a security force for the perpetrators, pointing their boots towards Minneapolis residents while federal agents leave the scenes of their crimes without consequence.

No arrest has been made or charges brought against Jonathan Ross, Good’s killer, nor against the agent who committed the shooting the following week, nor the agents whose tear gas nearly killed a six-month-old, nor the agents who recently kidnapped a five-year-old and a two-year-old, nor any of the agents who have racially profiled, stalked, assaulted, battered and unlawfully detained people of color and their neighbors over the past months.

Since the murder of Alex Pretti on January 24, thousands of protesters continue to mobilize near the site, chanting “ICE out” and “The people united will never be defeated!”

MIRAC called for a rally the evening of January 24 to bring people together after the latest ICE murder. Speeches emphasized the need for immediate action to remove ICE, without the National Guard interfering with protests.

Charlie Berg, an organizer in the Climate Justice Committee and a Freedom Road Socialist Organization member, said to the crowd, “Alex Pretti was executed in broad daylight by these occupier pigs.” Addressing politicians controlled by billionaires, he added “The only way this ends is with ICE to getting the fuck out of our city. You've been warned.”

“We are on a precipice,” says MIRAC member Owen Lubozynski. “The agents of an authoritarian regime are terrorizing and disappearing our neighbors, brutalizing observers, injuring journalists and killing with impunity. Any leader who is against this must do everything in their power to impede our country’s plunge into dictatorship while they still can.”

City and state officials responded to the righteous anger of community members by calling out the National Guard. But Minnesotans have not been deterred or scared away from gathering at the site of Pretti’s murder.

“It is us, even when we are scared, when our hearts are heavy, full of emotion, that we work to fight for what is right.
Minneapolis, MN – ICE has committed its second open murder of 2026 in the Twin Cities, with the fatal shooting of a legal observer on Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis on the morning of January 24.
More than 50,000 march in day of action demanding ICE out of Minneapolis

<![CDATA[Massive march against ICE terror in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis, MN - On Friday, January 23, at 2 p.m., it was -11 degrees F with -40 windchill when over 50,000 Minnesotans bundled up in layers and scarves braved the extreme cold. They gathered in a park near US Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis to demand that ICE leave the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.

By 1 p.m. the park was already beginning to fill up with people arriving early to avoid clogged traffic and backed-up light rail trains coming into the area, getting crowded with Minnesotans coming to the march. By 2 p.m., there was no way to see the edges of the protest from inside the crowd, even when standing on benches to get a better view, as it stretched many blocks in all directions and around corners, flooding a large section of downtown.

!--more--

From the middle of the crowd there was no way to tell what time the march began moving. However, marchers near the front reported that they were already at the end point of the march 14 blocks away, over an hour before the back half of the march had begun to move. During the march, the 14-block route of wide downtown streets was packed full of sidewalk to sidewalk, as was the park at the beginning and the area surrounding the endpoint.

The march ended at the Target Center, which is the arena where the Minnesota Timberwolves play basketball. A large indoor rally was held in the Target Center, which holds over 20,000 and was sold out of free tickets for the event. First Avenue is a large music venue in Minneapolis, and it also opened as a warming center and to live stream the rally. It was also full. Many more never made it inside at either venue.

Over 1000 Minneapolis businesses had announced they would close as part of the day of action.

The march was the centering of a long day of actions called “ICE Out of Minnesota – Day of Truth and Freedom.” The day was called for by a group of unions working together with immigrant rights organizations and community groups across the Twin Cities.

The day of action began with a 6 a.m. picket at the Como Avenue location of HealthPartners, a large medical system in the Twin Cities, where the workers are members of SEIU Healthcare Minnesota and Iowa and are in bargaining for their next union contract. The HealthPartners workers have authorized an upcoming strike with a 99% vote to strike. The picket on Friday was an informational picket that was part of the coordinated day of action. At the time of the picket, it was -21 degrees real temperature and around -50 degrees windchill and pitch dark, yet the picket was large and boisterous.

Around 10 a.m., 100 clergy and religious leaders were arrested in a sit-in at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport, where thousands of people have been deported and airport workers have been arrested by ICE.

Soon after the action at the airport, members of Minneapolis Federation of Educators, the union in Minneapolis Public Schools, held an action at the Minneapolis City Hall highlighting ICE’s reign of terror on the children, staff and families at Minneapolis schools. Many more actions were held by unions and groups who were part of the day of action, and many workers stayed home from work to participate in the day.

This march and many actions of the day were only the latest of dozens of huge protests and actions in the Twin Cities to resist ICE’s Metro Surge.

Recent weeks have seen ICE terrorizing community members - sometimes with intentional targets and other times seemingly at random - with ICE escalating interactions with the public daily, doing things like smashing car windows and dragging people out of cars, and beating people in the streets.

ICE has also blocked victims of their violence from receiving necessary medical care. The list of atrocities by ICE in the Twin Cities has sharply grown since an ICE agent murdered Renee Good in her car in Minneapolis on January 7.

#MinneapolisMN #MN #ImmigrantRights #ICE #ReneeGood #Feature

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

<![CDATA[

Trump is responding to Minnesota’s wave of struggle against mass deportations by threating to invoke the Insurrection Act. If he does so, it will be a case of lifting a rock only to drop it on one’s own feet.

In December the Department of Homeland Security announced the Twin Cities would be the focus of “Operation Metro Surge,” accompanied by the claim it would be the largest anti-immigrant action in U.S. history.

The response was mass protests and confrontations with ICE agents on the ground. Protesters converged on the scene. ICE fled, leaving behind some of their vehicles, which were then destroyed.

So, Trump is threatening the Insurrection Act to scare people. That won’t work. When Trump sent troops to LA this past summer it was like pouring gasoline on a fire. The fight against mass deportations did not stop – it intensified. The same thing will happen if Trump uses the Insurrection Act.

There are some people who say that mass, militant resistance to deportations is a provocation that allows additional political space for Trump to employ repression. This is exactly wrong. Militant struggle is how to defeat ICE and how we defeat the entirety of Trump’s agenda.

It is no exaggeration to say that millions of people have taken to the street since Trump took office. And today, this morning, we have Renee Nicole Good, who was just observing and trying to take care of her neighbors,” said Ash Pantoja, co-chair of the Immigrant Rights Working Committee of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (IRWC of CAARPR). They highlighted the contradictions in ICE’s excuses.

“They call this self-defense, but what is ICE really defending themselves from?” said Pantoja.

Johnnie Hayes of CAARPR’s Campaign to Free Incarcerated Survivors of Torture (CFIST) held her grandchild as she spoke. “ICE needs to go. Throughout Trump’s escalation of raids and attacks on immigrants, whistles have become a symbol of resistance and solidarity in the movement as community members use them as an alert system for ICE presence.

Gio Araujo of the New Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) at the University of Illinois - Chicago, who grew up in Little Village, stated, “The gunshots that were fired in the Twin Cities were heard all across the country. Everyone heard those gunshots, from New York, to D.C., to Chicago! People are mobilizing, because we know what this means and what this is about. This is an upswing of repression against our movement for immigrant rights. They wanna come into our communities and kill our people.”

“We ain’t gonna let that shit happen, because as they bring the repression, so will we bring the defenses,” said Araujo.

As the Little Village Community Council led the crowd in prayer and vigil service, protesters also marched down 26th Street to the mural of La Virgen de Guadalupe, shouting “Say her name! Renee Nicole Good!” and “ICE is just a racist mob, get a real fucking job!” There, they held a moment of silence for all victims of ICE and reminded attendees to call the Family Support Network Hotline at (855) 465-7693 if they spot ICE in their neighborhoods.

#ChicagoIL #IL #ImmigrantRights #ICE #ReneeGood #L4A #CAARPR

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

Murderer!”

“In her glove compartment, there were no weapons, no explosives, but stuffed animals. Is this what a domestic terrorist would have in their glove compartment?" said Vincent Ferro, a Purdue freshman from Minneapolis who witnessed the cold-blooded murder of Renee Nicole Good. “What's been going on in Minnesota is absolutely just disgusting. It's heartbreaking.”

Melissa Hernandez, a Purdue student, told the crowd, while in tears, “My parents have been waiting 20 years for papers in this country. Never once have they committed a crime!” adding, “They are people too! They are human! They have emotions! We will not live like this and take it anymore!”

Another speaker, who identified themselves as undocumented, said, “I’m an illegal immigrant-- I’m not scared to say that - I would like to thank you guys for coming out here. You guys are doing great. If you guys are scared of ICE, just know that we do have a God, and God is by our side, so do not be scared.”

The overall message of the night was to fight despair, get organized, and unite. Many speakers encouraged people to remain vigilant and fight complacency, with others calling for unity and organization.

ICE remains a constant threat to our lives and communities. The best way to fight back is to get organized.
SDS member Reed Stoerck opened the protest, citing the furious anger at the murder of Good and Porter, and the killings of Uribe and Noviello, that have brought people out to the streets, and called on everyone to get organized.

The crowd, composed of students and community members, was impassioned and loud, gathering the attention of people on their commutes home, chanting “IDF, KKK, ICE, they’re all the same!” and “Jonathan Ross is a? Murderer!”

“In her glove compartment, there were no weapons, no explosives, but stuffed animals. Is this what a domestic terrorist would have in their glove compartment?” said Vincent Ferro, a Purdue freshman from Minneapolis who witnessed the cold-blooded murder of Renee Nicole Good.

Another speaker, who identified themselves as undocumented, said, “I’m an illegal immigrant— I’m not scared to say that – I would like to thank you guys for coming out here.

Purdue SDS will be hosting a new member meeting at Mad Mushroom on State Street, Thursday, January 22, at 5:30 p.m. Follow us @sdsatpurdue on Instagram.

<![CDATA[Protest in Santa Ana, California after the ICE murder of Renee Good.

Santa Ana, CA - On Friday, January 9, about 300 protesters chanted “Justice for Renee Good” and “ICE out of Santa Ana” at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Field Office on Civic Center. They held a spray painted banner that read “Fuck ICE!” and signs reading “We demand justice!”

!--more--

This site has been one of struggle where protesters have tried to block federal vans from exiting in the past year. As protesters started chanting, federal agents attempted to intimidate the crowd using their PA system, but the protesters stood their ground in front of the building chanting.

Diana Terreros with Community Service Organization Orange County’s (CSO OC) Immigration Committee kicked off the protest stating “We are here because Trump has unleashed his federal agents on our neighborhoods for his mass deportation campaign and they continue to escalate. Last year they sent the National Guard out in an attempt to quell protests demanding ICE out of our cities. They’ve pulled guns on ICE watchers and brutalized the community members they are detaining. And now in the last week alone, there have been four shootings by federal agents.”

Terreros added “And this is just in the last couple of days! In 2025, over 30 people died at the hands of ICE.”

Rain Mendoza of CSO OC’s Immigration Committee added, “Renee Good is a hero to her community and should be alive today! Meanwhile, her three children have now lost a parent and her wife has lost a spouse, the disgusting worm Jonathon Ross is at home with his family according to disgraced Department of Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem. Shame! We demand the arrest of Jonathon Ross. We demand an end to deportations!”

A member of ICE out of Lake Forest reminded the crowd, “When we’re met with threats and intimidation, we do what politics and local governments have failed to do. We respond. We work together to build the future we want to see. One that we can be proud of. One that can take care of everyone.”

Reverend Oona Casanova with Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE Justice) told the crowd, “Just one week ago, over New Years Eve celebrations, an off-duty ICE agent shot and killed Keith Porter in Northridge. Bringing the total number of death or injury to nearly a dozen just in the Los Angeles area alone. And this is why we are here today. To speak up, to stand out, and to cry out for justice.”

The protesters chanted “Justice for Keith Porter!”

The crowd of protesters then took the streets to march, with a banner reading “Legalization for all of the undocumented!” and “Community control of the police!” leading the way. Protesters angrily chanted “Jonathan Ross! Lock him up!” The crowd marched down 1st Street, taking up all lanes of traffic. They were met with honks of support and even a school bus full of young Chicanos joining in on the chants.

Once protesters returned to the federal building, a member of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) exclaimed, “No politician is coming to save us! Shame! The supreme court is not coming to save us! Shame! No law enforcement is coming to save us! Shame!”

David Pulido of CSO OC’s Police Accountability Committee recalled the Santa Ana Police Department’s (SAPD) actions during Trump’s mass deportation campaign stating, “SAPD helped ICE! They pushed people back and let vans leave the federal building to kidnap our families!” He added, “And look around! How did SAPD respond when they learned that the people would demand justice for the death of Renee Nicole Good? They closed the streets! They put up the barricades! They let ICE hide! That is why our committee fights for community control of the police.”

Matthew Compton of Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) stated “This killing is a massive escalation of repression against those of us who fight back against this racist Trump administration.” He offered a solution, “That is why we must get rid of this system through revolution and implement socialism. Socialism is a system that will give power to the multinational working class. Socialism and revolution is the only way forward.”

The protest was organized by CSO OC and endorsed by CLUE Justice, ICE out of Lake Forest, FRSO, DSA, and OC Environmental Justice.

CSO OC will be hosting another protest on January 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the federal building for Trump's one-year anniversary in office to demand an end to deportations.

#SantaAnaCA #CA #ImmigrantRights #ICE #ReneeGood #CSOOC

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>
