Committee to Stop FBI Repression marches in Minneapolis LGBTQ Pride parade
Minneapolis, MN – The Minnesota Committee to Stop FBI Repression (CSFR) had a big presence at the annual Minneapolis LGBTQ Pride parade this year. A lively CSFR contingent participated in the annual parade down Hennepin Avenue to Loring Park on June 25. Thousands of flyers about FBI and grand jury repression against anti-war activists were handed out to the crowds at the CSFR information booth all day Saturday and Sunday and over 250 new people signed the pledge to resist if any activists are indicted or jailed in the ongoing witch hunt.
The CSFR flyer highlighted that several of the 23 people raided and subpoenaed by the FBI are queer in addition to being anti-war activists or labor activists. The CSFR also took out a full-page color ad in the official Pride guide which was distributed to many thousands of people over the weekend.
According to Tracy Molm, an activist with Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and one of the activists raided and subpoenaed by the FBI, “This is an extremely important crowd to reach out to not only because some of us who are affected are queer, but also because the queer community has a similar history of repression and should stand with us to ensure that political repression doesn't happen to anyone, queer or not.”
