Jacksonville, FL – On July 13, around 45 people, including family members of Harold Kraai along with the Jacksonville Community Action Committee, Jacksonville Progressive Coalition and other community members gathered for vigil in the San Mateo area of Jacksonville to protest against this police killing of an innocent civilian. Harolf Kraai was a 52-year-old mentally ill man who was gunned down by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officer (JSO) cop Richard Futch on the morning of July 7.

Chicago, IL – The Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, and Black Lives Matter-Chicago are calling for a protest Monday, July 16, 6 p.m., at 71st and Jeffrey to demand Justice for Harith Augustus, who was shot in the back Saturday afternoon by a Chicago police officer.

Chicago, IL – Teamster Chief Negotiator Dennis Taylor and UPS shook hands on a tentative agreement, June 22, which will include a new driving position called Full-Time Combination Drivers (Combo Driver). Full details were released July 10. UPS Teamsters across the country are calling the new position a two-tiered concession that spells doom for future package car drivers.

Milwaukee, WI – Over 60 people attended Black community leader Vaun L Mayes’ court date, July 5, at the federal courthouse in downtown Milwaukee. In this clear-cut case of political repression, Mayes is facing up to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to commit arson. This charge stems from the rebellion two years ago in the Sherman Park neighborhood, after Milwaukee police murdered the young Black man Sylville Smith in August 2016.

San Salvador, El Salvador – Thousands of students came together at the main entrance of the University of El Salvador (UES), July 5, to march against the right-wing initiative of the Salvadoran oligarchy to privatize water. The protest was organized and led by the UES authorities.

Minneapolis, MN – The family and community members will march in the streets of downtown Minneapolis to demand justice for Thurman Blevins, Jr., who was executed by Minneapolis police almost two weeks ago. The first Peace Walk filled the streets of North Minneapolis; this time, marchers will bring their demands downtown, starting at City Hall, 350 S 5th Street, 4:30 p.m., July 6.

Jacksonville, FL – On July 3, UPS management in Jacksonville deadlocked a local hearing over Dustin Ponder, a shop steward for Teamsters Local 512 who was terminated last month for union activity. Presenting scant evidence against Ponder, the company refused to give the steward his job back despite protests by Teamsters locally and across the country.

On June 30, the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), said that it is unlikely President Rodrigo Duterte would finish his term of office.

Dallas, TX – Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Dallas, June 30, to protest attacks on immigrants, particularly the detention of children and their separation from their parents.

Los Angeles, CA – The LA Civic Center area was the scene of mass protest against Trumps attacks on immigrants, including jailing and separating families. Thousands of people marched to voice their opposition to the Trump policy of increase arrests and deportations of families from Central America and Mexico.

Chicago, IL – About 50,000 people rallied and marched in Chicago’s Loop, June 30, to protest the Trump administration for separating kids from parents at the U.S.-Mexico border. The cruelty of this practice brought together over 100 organizations under the slogan Families Belong Together.
