Chicago fights back against ICE.

West Chicago, IL – Hundreds of protesters marched through West Chicago on the morning of Saturday, October 4 to denounce ICE’s attacks on Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, referred to by the Trump regime as “Operation Midway Blitz.”

Demonstrators had planned to converge at a local gas station before rallying at the Mayor’s office, but ICE attacked the gathering activists shortly before 9 a.m., pepper spraying three members of the group who intervened when ICE took two men who were at the gas station.

Chicago IL – On Friday afternoon, September 19, over 50 people gathered outside the Illinois State Board of Investment (ISBI) office in downtown Chicago to hold a press conference to declare a small victory. The ISBI quarterly meeting was abruptly cancelled just two days before, proving that Illinois State Treasurer (and ISBI Vice Chair) Michael Frerichs and the rest of the board are feeling the organized pressure from the Illinois Divest from Genocide Network.

Chicago IL – 50 demonstrators rallied outside Chicago’s Philippine consulate for a People’s State of the Nation Address (PSONA), July 27. Filipino activists organized the PSONA to illuminate the real conditions faced by the Filipino masses a day before Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. delivered his SONA. Protesters demanded freedom for Filipino immigrants in the U.S. arrested by ICE, and an end to U.S. support for the Marcos regime.

Chicago, IL – Over 100 protesters flooded the offices of the Illinois State Board of Investments (ISBI), June 20, in a militant action demanding Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs divest over $100 million worth of bonds from Israel.

Massive International Workers Day march in Chicago.

Chicago IL – Over 35,000 immigrants and their supporters filled the streets of Chicago on May 1, demanding an end to Trump’s attacks on immigrants and workers.

Led by the Consejo de Resistencia en Defensa del Inmigrante, the mass rally brought together over 150 organizations, mostly composed of Latino, Arab and Palestinian, Filipino and Korean immigrants and their supporters.

Consejo inherited the legacy of the March 10th Movement of 2006. That year, Chicago staged the first mega march in the country, with 300,000 marchers against the racist Sensenbrenner Bill, which would have made it a felony to be undocumented.
