Green Bay, WI community protests Zimmerman verdict
Green Bay, WI – A group of about 30 protesters, many from the black community, came out to the Brown County Courthouse July 16 to protest the not guilty verdict of George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin killing. Members of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and Occupy Green Bay were in attendance, along with a diverse group of members of the community.
“I came out today not just because of the Zimmerman verdict, but because the case and its ruling is the exemplar of all the racism that remains in the country to this day,” said Andre Korenak of SDS.
Protesters marched from the courthouse to the Green Bay Police Department chanting slogans such as, “No justice, no peace!” and “Stop racial profiling!”
“It's time for all people, of every race to stand against injustice in our country,” said Nicole Biddinger, a single-mother, “If you shoot someone it's still murder.”
