WFTU statement on a construction crane collapse in Seattle
Fight Back News Service is circulating the following April 30 statement from the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU).
The WFTU, representing more 97 million workers in 130 countries expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy to the friends and relatives of the 4 people who lost their lives after the collapse of a construction crane in Seattle of USA on Saturday April 27th, 2019.
The two of the dead were the crane operators and the other two were in cars when the crane collapsed and crushed in the road close to the under-construction building. It is reported that three other people were injured and hospitalized, also, material damages were caused.
This accident confirms once again how topical and crucial is the workers’ demand for health and safety in all aspect of the lives and particularly in the workplaces.
The international class-oriented trade union movement demands the investigation of the accident causes, the punishment of the responsible ones and the immediate and constant implementation of adequate protection measures in all the workplaces and industries in the United States of American and worldwide.
