Chicago marches for justice for Eric Garner

Chicago, IL – Over 600 people marched here, Dec. 4, to protest the failure of a grand jury in New York to indict the cop who killed Eric Garner. Many signs at the march noted that Dec. 4, 1969, was the day the Chicago police assassinated Black Panther leaders Fred Hampton and Mark Clark. Frank Chapman of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression states, “To stop police crimes, we have to end police control of Black and Latino communities.”

There is no justice in America’s courts

Eric Garner was an African American man who was murdered by a white cop with the New York City Police Department. The medical examiner ruled the killing a homicide. The video that shows Eric Garner being choked to death in the street – strangled as a gang of police jumped him – has been viewed by tens of millions. You can hear his last words, “I can’t breathe.” Still, on Dec 3, a white-majority grand jury let the killer cop and his accomplices walk free.

Protesters rally on I - 35, demand end to police brutality.

Minneapolis, MN – About 300 people took to the streets here Dec. 4 to demand justice for Eric Gardner, Mike Brown, Terrence Franklin and others killed by racist police. Massive demonstrations against police terror are taking place in cities across the U.S.

New York, NY – Eric Garner, an African American father of six, was brutally murdered at the hands of the New York City Police after an officer placed him in an illegal chokehold on July 17. Garner can be heard telling officers that he couldn't breathe in a video taken by a witness. After killing Garner, officers can be seen in the video searching his pockets instead of calling for medical attention. The officers have yet to be fired and charged for their crimes; instead have been placed on desk duty.
