Oakland, CA – Más de 20,000 personas llenaron las calles de Oakland el sábado 28 de marzo en la tercera manifestación “No Kings” para protestar contra la agenda de Trump.

La manifestación comenzó al mediodía en la Plaza Oscar Grant, en el centro de Oakland, donde los asistentes escucharon a oradores de organizaciones laborales, religiosas, de justicia ambiental y de derechos de los inmigrantes. Washington, DC – On Saturday, March 28, hundreds gathered in Washington DC’s Anacostia neighborhood before noon to join a contingent for the No Kings protest demanding “No Trump, no war, no ICE.” The contingent began with a rally at the Anacostia Metro station before marching to join the large protest.

As rallygoers poured out of the Metro and spilled into onto the sidewalks, organizers began to lead chants of “No ICE, no KKK, no racist USA,” and “Chinga la migra” (Fuck ICE). After this, contingent organizers began the march with chants of “No justice, no peace! Off the sidewalk, into the streets!”

Amber-Jane Jones, a member of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, said, “People all around the world are being hurt or killed by the U.S.’ imperialist policies – whether it’s in Venezuela, Cuba, or Iran. We joined this contingent to state clearly that it is the duty of all U.S. progressives to stand with the working and oppressed people of the world against the U.S. empire.”

After the rally, the contingent resumed its march together across the Frederick Douglass bridge, where protesters spotted known killer cop Jason Bagshaw patrolling the crowd. Bagshaw shot and killed 23-year-old Lazarus Wilson back in 2023 while off duty. No sooner was he pointed out by the people than leaders of the contingent launched into chants of “Shame! Shame on Jason Bagshaw” and “Indict, convict, send Bagshaw to jail! The whole damn system is guilty as hell!” while residents swarmed him with cameras and phones.

“Protesting Bagshaw is absolutely part of protesting Donald Trump,” said Merawi Gerima of the DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR), “it’s Trump’s policies that enable someone like Bagshaw to stay on the force and terrorize our communities, and so it is absolutely our duty to fight to see him put behind bars where he belongs!”

The march continued on to Fort McNair, the current residence of Trump advisor Stephen Miller, with chants of “Stephen Miller is his name! Separating families is his game!”

“He’s a white supremacist,” Katie Sayour, co-chair of the DC Against The Trump Agenda (DCATA) coalition said of Miller. “And we feel this administration’s white supremacist policies particularly hard in DC, where Black people like Phillip Brown and Justin Nelson are being shot at – and in the case of Julian Bailey, killed – by federal agents, and where these national guard thugs hang out to intimidate us every day.”

The contingent was organized by the DC Against The Trump Agenda (DCATA) and Families Not Feds (FNF) coalitions, joined by a list of progressive organizations, such as the Freedom Road Socialist Organization – DC (FRSO DC), the DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR), 50501DC, and the Anti-War Committee DMV (AWC-DMV).

DCATA and FNF plan to continue their resistance to the Trump agenda in DC’s local elections through their upcoming “People’s Ballot.”

New York, NY – Over 350,000 New Yorkers convened at Central Park on March 28 to join the No Kings protest. The No Kings protests have been called to oppose the Trump administration and its policies. Protesters convened on Saturday to oppose the Trump administration’s attacks on the people, ICE detentions and deportations of immigrants and the ongoing war on Iran.

Protesters carried signs, wore frog and Trump costumes, held upside down American flags, and more to express their opposition to Trump. Several organizations had their own contingents, including the NYU and Columbia chapters of Students for a Democratic Society. The SDS contingent held flags with their organization’s logo and a banner reading, “Student power!”

As protesters marched downtown, they chanted “Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Donald Trump has got to go!” “ICE, ICE go away! Immigrants are here to stay!” and “Money for jobs and education! Not for war and deportations!”

As the march ended, protesters were encouraged to do more by getting organized. The next No Kings protest is planned for May 1, International Worker’s Day.

Salt Lake City, UT- On Saturday, March 28, tens of thousands of people gathered at Utah’s Capitol building for a No Kings protest. The protest comes in the wake of news that ICE is building a detention center in Utah, one of the largest in a series of centers which the Department of Homeland Security intends to build around the country.

Chants such as “El pueblo unido, jamás será vencido!” were commonly heard.

Opposition to ICE wasn’t the only message communicated at the capitol building. Amid plummeting support for intervention in other countries, Iran was a hot topic as well.

Robert Birch, one of the organizers for Utah’s No King’s rally in SLC, questioned the necessity of war in his speech on the steps of the capitol, asking why billions were being spent on “unnecessary war” instead of the less fortunate.

The Utah Anti-War Committee marched with a banner at its front reading “Hands off Iran!” in bold capital letters and leading chants focusing on Western intervention in Venezuela, Iran and Palestine.

Though much of the anger among Saturday’s protesters is currently directed at the Trump administration, when Trump is gone, the conditions which fuel this rising anger will remain.

Denver, CO – On Saturday, March 28, over 20,000 people showed up at the steps of the Colorado State Capitol to protest the Trump administration’s continued attacks on oppressed people and to demand an end to foreign wars. The day’s program included speeches as well as live music from Colorado Singing Resistance, Los Mocochetes, Brothers of Brass, and Notes of Dissent. The event, the third of its kind, was organized by a coalition of grassroots organizations, including Denver Coalition Against Trump, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Aurora Unidos CSO, Indivisible, and various labor unions.

Trump’s first year back in office has seen increased ICE attacks resulting in the kidnapping of community members. Laws passed by reactionary politicians have pushed back women’s, LGBTQ, and civil rights by decades in some instances. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, launched a war in Iran, and tightened its sanctions and blockade of Cuba. All of this, in addition to many other grievances, was aired by the protesters during the event, which lasted all afternoon.

Protesters began pouring into the capitol grounds around noon. Grassroots organizations set up tents and tables around the pavilion to share educational material and opportunities for organizing. The event was kicked off with short protest songs and a series of speeches by members of the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition, Rocky Mountain Equality, the ACLU, Colorado Education Association, and Rise and Represent.

“We are here to send one clear message: that the years and decades of exploitation and abuse by the billionaire class, the capitalist class, the Epstein class, on our communities must come to an end today,” said Kooper Karaway, executive director of Colorado Education Association.

After the initial rounds of speakers, two marches started. Chants filled the streets of downtown Denver as tens of thousands of protesters marched past places of business and recreation. People watched from the balconies of their apartments, cars honked in support, and Brothers of Brass kept spirits high.

After the two marches, there were more speeches back at the Colorado State Capitol.

“Here’s the good news: this war against the people of the world is not one-sided. There is widespread resistance, both here at home and all over the world.” said Shaine Carroll-Frey of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization. “One year ago today, Jeanette Vizguerra was detained over in Aurora by ICE. Where is she today? She’s here with us! We did that! With constant vigils, weekly vigils and protests, we freed Jeanette! That’s what organized people power looks like – that’s what organized worker power looks like.”

“We win when we all get into the struggle. We win when we let go of our fear.” said Jade Kelly, president of CWA Local 7799. “If you leave No Kings today remembering only one thing, remember the simple truth: that we already have the power as working people. We built this world. We keep this state running with our labor. And we have the power to build a better world. We just have to organize to get it.”

Austin, TX – On Saturday, March 28, over 10,000 people rallied for No Kings Day, to protest against Trump’s agenda. After a march beginning at Austin City Hall, protesters gathered at Auditorium Shores for a rally featuring over 80 organizations tabling, many of them giving speeches and teach-ins throughout the event.

Jesse Valdelamar from the immigrant rights organization, La Frontera Unida, said, “Today was a great day. Austin came out in force today to let Trump and his lackeys in the governor’s office know that we will not stay idle as they trample over our rights.”

Ellie James from Austin Students for a Democratic Society said, “We are here to take a stand against the conservative agenda being forced upon UT Austin’s academic curriculum.”

During the rally, several unions and organizations spoke on a labor panel, focused on how workers and their unions are fighting back.

Taylor Carriker-Cavin, a panelist speaking on behalf of Education Austin, said, “Teachers’ unions across the country have been going on strikes successfully, winning things for their unions, for their workers, for their students, and for their families at home. Education Austin is building toward that, but we cannot do it alone.”

“We need the support,” Carriker-Cavin continued, “of all of your community organizations.”

Later in the same panel, Jules Lattimore of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization said, “We need to change economic struggle into class struggle. Take a local struggle about say, wages, benefits, or working hours, and transform that into an avenue for not just a fight against your own boss, but against the billionaires in your city, and against the police that are working for them.”

Lattimore continued, “We need unity in action to get out of this mess where we are always on the defensive from the billionaires, from the capitalists. We also need a new system that has us, the working class, in charge. And that’s only possible through the science of Marxism-Leninism.”

Starting from Margerum Fountain, the massive crowd of protestors spanned the entirety of the John T. Meyers Pedestrian Bridge as they marched shoulder to shoulder making their way to the Lafayette courthouse. After the massive crowd rounded the courthouse they made their way back to Tapowingo Park to listen to live music and speakers

Protesters demanded an end to the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, an end to the terror of ICE, a return to the rule of law, and disparaged the lack of accountability of the Trump administration.

“Today the war that no American asked for has reached a month in length,” said Lea Rush, a member of SDS at Purdue. “As a student I call on all American institutions of higher learning to immediately divest from their military industrial partners. We will not tolerate our schools being the intellectual and technological backbone of terror and genocide all across the world.”

It is clear that wide sectors of people are vehemently against this illegal and unpopular war of aggression. People are tired of billionaires sending young people to fight and die in their dirty wars and the No Kings protest are evidence that there is popular outrage against the Trump administration. People want real change and want it now.

The protest was organized by Indivisible. The No Kings Rally had attendees from various organizations including Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) at Purdue, JVP Indiana, Greater Lafayette DSA, and YDSA.

Jacksonville, FL – Around 6000 people marched at the No Kings rally, joining millions protesting across the country.

Protesters started at Friendship Fountain, took the streets and marched across the Main Street Bridge before stopping at the Duval Courthouse for a rally. They chanted, “We want justice you say how? Hands off Iran now,” “When immigrant rights are under attack, what do we do? Stand up fight back!” Other chants included ones denouncing Trump along with calling for a free Palestine and Black lives matter.

Organized by a coalition of groups including 50501 NE FL, Indivisible Jax, Beaches Activists Movement, the Jacksonville Community Action Committee, Jacksonville Palestine Solidarity Network, the Jacksonville Immigrant Rights Alliance, 50501 Vets Jax Chapter, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization and others, this rally drew a large number of protestors united in opposing the Trump agenda.

Organizers vowed to have more mobilizations like this in the near future.

New Orleans, LA — 10,000 people gathered in New Orleans on Saturday, March 28 to join the No King’s Day protest against Donald Trump’s racist agenda. The protest was one of thousands in a nationwide day of action that mobilized millions of people.

“I didn’t spend my childhood being spat on and screamed at so that we could quit now. Today, I’m telling you, stand up, speak up, fight back,” said Leona Tate, reflecting on her experience as one of four Black girls who first attended segregated public schools in New Orleans. Tate continued, “This is not what we marched for. This is not what we bled for. I am 71 years old and I’m still fighting, so what are you going to do to join me?”

As the crowd of thousands took to the streets, they chanted “No more deportations,“ and “Hands off Iran now!” A banner at the front of the march read, “Fight Trump’s agenda! No to deportations! No to U.S. attacks and war!”

After the march, Charlie Schully addressed the crowd on behalf of New Orleans Stop Helping Israel’s Ports (NOSHIP), “The $200 billion Trump wants to spend on the war on Iran could pay for over 27 million Americans to have their health insurance covered by Medicaid, which Trump just cut with his ‘big beautiful bill.’”

Schully concluded, “Organizing people power is the only way we can get these crooked politicians to take our hard earned money away from the war profiteers and put it into services that benefit us.”

Tallahassee, FL – On March 28, over 5000 people gathered at the Florida Capitol for the third No Kings protest to stand against Trump. Under the Tallahassee Coalition Against Trump banner, local organizations led the protest against Trump’s racist and reactionary agenda before taking to the streets and marching around the capitol. In addition to speaking out against Trump, those in attendance demanded an end to attacks on immigrants, police violence and the war on Iran.

Speakers connected to local issues like 287(g), an agreement allowing Florida law enforcement officers to act as immigration police and detain immigrants, while rally attendees held signs like “Immigrants are welcome here” and “ICE out now.” Four law enforcement departments signed 287(g) agreements even though they were not required to do so: Florida State University Police Department, Tallahassee State College Police Department, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Police Department and Tallahassee Police Department. The Tallahassee Immigrant Rights Alliance (TIRA) has been attending city commission meetings in recent months to demand that the city rescind its 287(g) agreement between ICE and TPD.

Speaking for TIRA on why policies like 287(g) must be eliminated, Sara Millan said, “What nation are you keeping safe? What community are you possibly keeping safe that requires you to seize innocents in their jobs, in their schools, in their homes, and eliminate them like animals?”

Regina Joseph from the Freedom Road Socialist Organization told the crowd, “The United States uses our tax dollars to kill innocent people all around the world. Just last month, the U.S. bombed an all-girls school in Iran, killing over 180 children. So far, the United States has spent over $20 billion to wage war on Iran. We cannot stand by while lives are destroyed for profit and power.”

After the first set of speeches, organizers gathered the crowd to march around the capitol complex. Immediately, the march was disrupted by violent officers with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

Along Pensacola Street near the capitol, where there is no sidewalk to march on, the marchers stepped onto the street, which was already closed to cars by police for the Springtime Tallahassee festival earlier in the day. Despite the road being entirely empty, FDLE officers swooped in and arrested head marshal Sadie Carlson for “obstructing a highway” and “resisting without violence.”

March attendees swarmed FDLE, shouting “Shame!” and “Let her go!” As protesters demanded her release, FDLE officers escorted Carlson into the Florida Capitol building. The protesters were not deterred and continued to demand Carlson’s freedom. Organizers and attendees immediately sprang into action, flooding the lines of the Leon County Detention Facility. Quickly after, the Tallahassee Coalition Against Trump called on attendees to mobilize outside the jail.

At the detention facility, more than 50 people began chanting “Free Sadie!” and “Protesting is not a crime!”

Speaking to the crowd, Delilah Pierre, president of the Tallahassee Community Action Committee, said, “The officers are lying when they say they can’t release her faster! They are lying about the charges! They are lying that she can’t have a lawyer! We’re going to stay here until Sadie is released, and we’re going to fight to get these made-up charges dropped!” Her words were proven true when, after less than four hours, Carlson was released thanks to the community rallying behind her.

Speaking on the mistreatment she faced and the absurdity of her arrest, Carlson, a transgender woman, said, “They didn’t get me any food. They groped my [breasts] and put me in the men’s facility. I think it’s crazy I got arrested today and Donald Trump, with all the crimes he’s committed, where is he? He’s killed innocent people in Iran and in Palestine, immigrants here. He’s a rapist, all of his buddies are rapists, and he’s not in jail!”

Tallahassee, FL – On Saturday, October 18, over 1000 people rallied at the Florida Capitol to protest Donald Trump’s attacks on immigrant rights, LGBTQ rights, and democratic rights altogether.

Members of the No King Rally headed towards the center of the capitol to hear speeches from Tallahassee’s Indivisible Chapter. People also gathered around progressive organizations that led chants and gave separate speeches at another spot within the protest.

“Donald Trump, we’re not scared, we’re not going anywhere!” shouted Delilah Pierre, president of the Tallahassee Community Action Committee (TCAC). After the protest, Pierre explained, “I attended the No Kings protest because I wanted to say no to the continuing attacks on Palestine, to the police brutality and crimes that are still frequent and unpunished, to the detention centers and illegal arrests of undocumented immigrants. Everyone here might not have the same ideas, but we have a common goal – to fight back against the Trump administration and win!”

“We cannot win unless we are organized, unless we are unified,” said Regina Joseph, who spoke on behalf of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization. “We’re giving $20 billion to Argentina – we force other places to accept immigrants and wage war around the world while other people are starving. That’s not right! We need to organize something outside of the two party system, a political party that will fight and stand with the people!”

“Amidst mass liberal big-tent protests, immigrant rights activists need to push the massive upsurge of people into the political struggle to build something radical and real,” said Aedan Bennett, a member of the Tallahassee Immigrant Rights Alliance.

Activists from the TCAC stayed hours after the main protest ended, rallying with the protesters still remaining and energizing people to fight against the Trump administration.

Oakland, CA – Over 10,000 people flooded the streets of Oakland this weekend, October 18, for the “No Kings” protest, part of a nationwide wave of resistance. From Wilma Chan Park to Lake Merritt, chants for immigrant rights, Palestine, and working-class unity shook the city.

Marchers came from across the East Bay, with union members, immigrant families, students and socialists forming a powerful broad front. Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) Oakland, CSO Oakland, and Oakland Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression joined dozens of community and labor organizations, showing the kind of broad, disciplined unity needed to confront Trump, the ruling class, and their attacks on oppressed people here and abroad.

At the amphitheater, U.S. Representative Lateefah Simon and Mayor Barbara Lee spoke to the crowd, calling on Oaklanders to stay organized and keep fighting. But it was the people’s chants that carried the real message: “No hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here!” and “From Palestine to Mexico, all these border walls have got to go!”

Banners demanding “ICE Out of Oakland” and “Free Palestine” flew side by side. Activists tied the struggles together: U.S. bombs in Gaza, ICE raids in our neighborhoods, and police violence in Black communities all come from the same system of imperialism and white supremacy that puts profit over people.

Danny Cela from CSO Oakland led a strong immigrant rights contingent, many of whom organize weekly barrio walks and tenant-defense work. Their chants, “¡Aquí estamos y no nos vamos!” and “The people united will never be defeated,” echoed through downtown.

Marchers called for climate justice, an end to deportations, and defense of trans and Black lives, all under the banner of people’s power. The message was clear, the working class and oppressed must rely on our own strength, not politicians or the capitalist parties.

The FRSO Oakland contingent marched loudly, emphasizing that the fight ahead requires building mass organizations rooted in everyday struggle – in the workplace, the schools, and the streets – to defeat monopoly capitalism. One of their chants was, “From Palestine to the Philippines, stop the U.S. war machine!”

Oakland has a long history of resistance, from the Black Panther Party to today’s movements for immigrant, worker and climate justice. Saturday’s march proved that spirit is alive and growing. The path forward is organization, solidarity, and struggle against every attempt by the ruling class to crush us. As one banner read, “No kings, no bosses, no billionaires – only the people, united and organized.”

Cape Girardeau, MO – On No Kings Day, October 18, protesters gathered at Freedom Corner in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. At the same time down the street, Southeast Missouri State University was holding its annual homecoming game as fireworks from the stadium went off in the background.

The No Kings protesters held up signs, waved flags and cheered at the many supportive honks from passing drivers. Organizers provided sign-making materials, bottles of water, and “know your rights” business cards. However, many people brought signs from home; slogans included “No Kings!” “Power of the people > people in power” and slogans for public education and public services. Protesters wore costumes to mock President Trump’s attempt to label them terrorists, including an inflatable shark, Kenny from South Park and a unicorn.

Despite taking place in a historically Republican area, only a few backwards Trump supporters gave thumbs-down or more rude gestures, and a couple of trucks did tire burnouts at the traffic light. Three counter-protesters with sloppily written signs angrily screamed at No Kings protesters, before wandering off.

The No Kings protest had a crowd of as many as 600 people, with many coming and going throughout the two-hour event. Attendance was increased from the previous No Kings protest in the summer. Volunteers collected signatures for both Respect MO Voters and People Not Politicians petitions.

Respect MO Voters is seeking a ballot initiative to enshrine voter rights in the constitution and prevent legislators from overriding voter choice. People Not Politicians is fighting to put the recently gerrymandered congressional map onto the ballot. This petition in particular has been attacked by Secretary of State Denny Hoskins, who has spread misinformation about the process, going so far as to claim signing it is illegal. The Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has filed a federal lawsuit. Over 100,000 signatures have been collected so far.

Washington, D.C. – Eager organizers and community members gathered early Saturday morning, October18 to protest the Trump administration with a rally in the historically Black neighborhood at 14th and U Streets in D.C. Led by the DC Against the Trump Agenda (DCATA) Coalition, 50501, and Refuse Fascism, speakers addressed the growing crowd of people in honor of No Kings Day.

DCATA formed shortly after the military occupation in D.C. in August and is building an ever-expanding front against Trump and his racist agenda.

When the rally kicked off, Merawi Gerima of the DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR) asked the crowd, “What is the most beautiful thing in the universe? What is the most powerful weapon in the hands of the people? And what is the greatest fear of all of our enemies combined?” All three to which the crowd yelled, “Unity!”

“This is their tools, this is their trade that they have always used to try to keep up apart and exploited,” said a member of Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO). “It’s violence in the form of police, it’s bigotry in the form of Trump’s policies on immigrants, on gay and trans rights, on attacking all of our communities with this anti-DEI initiative.”

The rally evolved into a “Remove the Regime” march down 14th Street with a group that grew to 5000 protesters as they yelled “Move Trump, get out the way, get out the way Trump, get out the way!” and “Bowser and Trump, sitting in a tree, attacking and deporting immigrants in DC!”

Onlookers were so moved by chant leaders that they ran out from local restaurants and stores to join the march. “Fuck Donald Trump!” and “Release the files!” became an undercurrent of the messaging as the crowd made their way to an area close to the Capitol.

As the march concluded, the protesters joined another No Kings rally which is estimated at having between 200,000 and 300,000 people in attendance. Here, Bill Nye and Bernie Sanders spoke to the crowd in support of No Kings, while protesters continued to call out “No kings, no kings!” Senator Chris Murphy also spoke, saying that Trump “is enacting a detailed, step-by-step plan to destroy all of the things that protect our democracy.”

While some took this day to be a joyful opportunity for a parade, the DC Against the Trump Agenda coalition focused on the fight for a liberated DC and United States, where no king will be allowed to rule. As the FRSO speaker reminded the crowd, “The people united, have never been defeated!”

Rosemont, IL – Hundreds of people marched in the No Kings protest on Saturday afternoon, October 18, near O’Hare International Airport. At the head of the column was the leadership of the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT), including outgoing President Dan Montgomery and newly-elected President Stacy Davis Gates. Protesters demanded fully-funded public services and an end to Trump's federal invasion of Illinois.

The protest took place on the second day of the IFT convention. The delegates unanimously elected Davis Gates, president of the Chicago Teachers Union, as Illinois Federation of Teachers president. Delegates also elected an executive board representing locals all over the state. They also resolved to fight for full- funded schools and against the many attacks from the Trump administration against the people of Illinois.

Hundreds of teachers and school staff took their demands to the streets and united with hundreds more community members and attendees of other conventions. They marched down the usually quiet sidewalk and chanted “Donald Trump has got to go!” and “No hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here!”

Drivers honked their horns and waved signs and flags in support. These demonstrators joined millions of people around the country in visible opposition to the Trump agenda.

“It's energizing to be here with fellow teachers and education workers from around the state,” said Haden Kersting, a high school teacher and IFT delegate. “There is a tremendous amount of unity here. Trump is attacking our rights as workers, and he is attacking the communities that we are a part of and serve. People are ready to fight against Trump and his accomplices.”

Denver, CO – On the afternoon of October 18, an estimated 50,000 people rallied at the Colorado State Capitol to protest the Trump administration’s continued attacks on human rights.

The protest, one of the many No Kings protests that tool place across the country, featured a massive crowd of Denverites marching down Colfax Avenue toward Union Station, chanting “Up, up, up with liberation! Down, down with deportations!” and “No hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here!”

Trump’s attacks on the people of the United States have only sharpened since the No Kings action in June. Since then, Trump has called on the National Guard to occupy Washington, DC, Chicagoans and Californians have been fighting back against ICE and the National Guard being sent to their states, and Trump has threatened several other states with troop occupations. The Republican Party also shut down the government in late September, and federal employees have been left with no work and no pay.

“People are struggling to survive, struggling to feed their families,” said Katherine Draken, a rank-and-file Teamster and member of Freedom Road Socialist Organization. “They want us to think that it’s hopeless, that all we can do is vote for some politician every few years and hope for the best. But we have the real power! We have people power!”

This was not the only No Kings protest that happened in Colorado. Aurora, Colorado Springs, Loveland, Commerce City, and others along the Front Range participated, with tens of thousands turning out across the state.

Over 2600 protests happened nationally on October 18, with millions of people in attendance.

Seattle, WA – On October 18, a crowd of 90,000 turned out for No Kings Day 2.0 at Seattle Center to protest the growing list of attacks by the Trump administration. They demanded immigrant rights, police accountability, and stops to U.S. war and intervention abroad, attacks on federal workers, social programs and services, as well as people’s basic rights to bodily autonomy and access to medical care.

In addition to the broadly anti-Trump messaging of Seattle’s No Kings protest, organizers with grassroots community organizations like UW Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), the Seattle Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (SAARPR), and Seattle Against War (SAW), along with the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, joined together with other pro-Palestine organizations and activists to bring a loud and militant Palestine contingent comprising one of the more disciplined and serious sections of the march.

“Showing up here with the Palestine contingent means being visible and being defiant,” said Bria Lewis, a member of UW SDS. “So many people in power try to shut down a movement condemning the genocide of the Palestinian people by claiming it’s antisemitic to call it what it is. I don’t have family in Europe now because they were all killed 80 years ago. I can’t think of anything more antisemitic than causing unfathomable suffering on a large scale and claiming this is what the monolith of Jewish people believe in.”

A major achievement of the movement for Palestine in Seattle was securing a speaking spot for Palestinian activist Tariq Ra’ouf, who brought a sharp anti-genocide message to the 90,000-strong crowd stating “We all know that Trump is a liar, right? But what if I told you that it’s not just Trump who’s been lying to you? It’s not just the MAGA fanatics and the Republicans who’ve been supporting them.”

Ra’ouf continued, “When people across both sides of the aisle couldn’t admit that what was happening in Gaza was a genocide, and as I lost family member after family member after family member, the last of which was killed last week, I realized that I was being lied to not just by Trump, but by Democrats who were guilty of being paid by Israel to keep sending them more bombs!”

The Palestinian speaker and solid block of marchers waving Palestine flags represented a major shift in the prevalence of pro-Palestine messaging compared to the first No Kings event earlier this year. The change speaks to the tireless efforts of anti-war organizers and activists to build and sustain Seattle’s mass movement for Palestinian liberation and an end to the U.S.-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Once the march got underway, chant leads from Seattle Against War led the Palestine contingent through the streets of downtown Seattle with a nonstop chorus of chants in Arabic and English, including “When Palestine is under attack, what do we do? Stand up, fight back!” and “Not another penny, not another dime! No troops in Venezuela, no bombs in Palestine!”

The contingent also loudly declared resistance to any future national guard deployment to Seattle with chants of “No Trump! No troops! Seattle isn’t licking boots!” UW SDS has preemptively called for an emergency response action in the case that the National Guard is sent to Seattle. The action will be at Federal District Court, 700 Stewart Street at 6 p.m. the day after such a deployment.

Ra’ouf’s speech drew a clear connection between these seemingly separate struggles. “You are the one that has the power in this world,” he concluded. “Not our politicians, not the National Guard, not our police. You are the one capable of telling them what is and isn’t acceptable. It is your labor that keeps the status quo going. So join your community to protest in front of the ICE facilities to prevent people from getting kidnapped. Join the Palestinian protests to send a message that our money should be spent on us, not on Israel. It’s time the world understands that when we say free Palestine, we want a free and better world for all of us.”

Milwaukee, WI – On October 18, No Kings Milwaukee called for their second No Kings Day. 18,000 people gathered at Cathedral Square Park in the heart of downtown Milwaukee to stand against the racist and reactionary republicans and the Trump administration.

The day started with an organization fair, where about a dozen grassroot groups were able to table and get people involved in organizations. Then there were speakers and a performance, which led into a march throughout the city.

Alan Chavoya, of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization said, “It’s important for us to be here and participate in these demonstrations. When you have 18K in the streets chanting for a free Palestine, denouncing ICE, and demanding hands off Venezuela it will click with a portion of them and make them more invested in the movement. They will follow those who lead, and if you lead well, like we did today, people will join the movement, which is what we need right now.”

As Chavoya mentioned, chants rang throughout Milwaukee, the city hearing loud and clear, “Donald Trump kiss my ass, here comes the working class!” and “Free, free Palestine! Do it in our lifetime!” along with other chants focused on immigrant rights, abortion access and other broad anti-Trump slogans.

As Trump continues to attack our communities, it is crucial that we continue the fight against Trump’s agenda and stand in solidarity with the people around us. Milwaukee isn’t rolling over and allowing these attacks to continue.

Grand Rapids, MI – On Saturday, October 18, approximately 10,000 protesters convened in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. This “No Kings” protest was held at Rosa Parks Circle in response to the nationwide call for people to stand up against the Trump administration, joining the dozens of demonstrations across West Michigan and the more than 2500 across the country.

The protest was organized by the GR Coalition to Oppose Trump, an alliance of nine groups including Freedom Road Socialist Organization, the GVSU Progressive Student Union, Palestine Solidarity Grand Rapids, The Grand Rapids Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, IATSE Local 26, Protest For Progress, Unite and Resist Grand Rapids, the SPARC collective, and Kent County Indivisible.

In contrast to the overcast sky, spirits were high throughout the midday Saturday protest. Community members of diverse ages and backgrounds stopped by the tables of local organizations to sign petitions, learn about the work they do on the ground, and speak with organizers on how to get involved.

One protester, when asked what brought him out, stated. “I've always wanted to be able to stand up for human rights, I mean, that's one of the things that makes our country so beautiful, that when things are going poorly, the people come together and unite and this helps us move forward.” Offering his opinion as a Black man in the U.S., he continued, “I saw a sign earlier asking what people would have done during the civil rights struggle or slavery, and I think this is the time to show what you would have done.”

Ivan Diaz, a union rep who previously served on the Kent County Board of Commissioners and is currently running for the 29th District in the Michigan State Senate, said, “Any political candidate who aspires to be an elected leader must show up everywhere, especially when the people are clamoring for change and leadership. If we cannot trust our politicians to show up and have our back in the streets, then we definitely cannot trust them with the power to represent us.”

These same sentiments were echoed and amplified by the lineup of speakers, including the GVSU Progressive Student Union, Movimiento Cosecha/Rapid Response to ICE, The Urban Core Collective, and the ACLU.

Tabby Dawson, speaking on behalf of the GVSU Progressive Student Union stated, “The Progressive Student Union is a student organization at GVSU who are putting pressure on the administration to make the campus a sanctuary campus for students of all nationalities. We are trying to get the administration to write policies that state they will not allow ICE to enter our schools or our facilities.”

Julian Cortez, representing Freedom Road Socialist Organization, told the crowd “There are so many fronts of the struggle ahead of us. So many peoples' rights are under attack, from immigrants to the trans community. From the erosion of education and the dismantling of reproductive rights, I believe events like this are an important way to grow bonds of solidarity between different elements of the grassroots struggle.”

After the speeches, marchers, led by 24 progressive clergy members, took to the streets. They took up the right hand lane of Monroe Avenue, and the reaction from drivers were primarily honks of solidarity, sign waving, and people joining in on one of the many chants calling for a free Palestine, immigrant rights, and unity in the struggle against Trump.

As the march continued, passing the courthouse on Ottawa Avenue, both lanes were entirely filled with protesters, chanting, “Chinga la Migra” and “Free Palestine!”

Arriving on Fulton Street, aggressive drivers attempting to drive through the crowd were swiftly blocked by Industrial Workers of the World volunteers alongside other community members with a banner that read “First they came for the immigrants.” As the march concluded where it began, the chants continued, and people were encouraged by coordinators to join local grassroots organizations.
