On Nov. 20, roughly 300 people packed All People’s Church on Milwaukee’s north side to attend the first public meeting of the Milwaukee Coalition Against Trump (MCAT). The Coalition’s mission is to “build a broad and organized resistance led by a coalition of grassroots organizations to Stop Trump and his hateful agenda.”

Over 3200 people took the streets here, Nov. 10, to voice their dissatisfaction with President-elect Donald Trump. The march was led by the Young People's Resistance Committee (formerly known as Youth Empowered in the Struggle). Like many marches around the country, the people were angry.

El sábado 13 de agosto a las 3:30 pm, un oficial de la policía de Milwaukee mató a un joven de 23 años de edad, cerca de la intersección de la 44 St. y Auer Ave. Acusándolo de haber huido, inmediatamente después de lo ocurrido el departamento de policía emitió una declaración afirmando haber recuperado una pistola robada.

Milwaukee vigil at the scene of the police shooting of Sylville Smith

Milwaukee, WI – The response to the Aug. 13 police killing of a young African American man is continuing here. At 8 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, over 100 community members showed up for a community cleanup called for by the Coalition for Justice.

Milwaukee, WI – The Sherman Park neighborhood became the scene of a Ferguson-like uprising after a police killing of a Black man on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 13. At 3:30 p.m., a Milwaukee cop shot and killed a 23-year-old man they said was running away from them, near 44th and Auer Avenue. Police immediately issued statements claiming they recovered a stolen gun.

Milwaukee rally against police terror.

Milwaukee, WI – Over 400 people showed up to Milwaukee’s Red Arrow Park at 4 p.m., July 11 in response to the recent murders of Black men by police. Organized and led by the Coalition for Justice, protesters marched through the streets of downtown Milwaukee. They paused at various locations to send a clear message to Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) and the city: “Black lives matter!”

Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES) marches in Milwaukee for favorable ruling

Milwaukee, WI – On April 6, members and affiliates of immigrant rights activist group United We Dream held actions around the country to raise awareness of a significant issue. DACA+ (Deferred Action for Children Arrivals extension) and DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans) will return to the Supreme Court after a delay caused by Justice Scalia’s death in February. As the court date approaches, groups in Albuquerque, Milwaukee, and many other cities are holding actions, making noise and taking the streets in attempts to direct media attention toward the families affected by the measures.

Speaking out against 'Right to Work' in Wisconsin.

Milwaukee, WI – One year after the so-called Right to Work law was imposed by the state government on Wisconsin workers, Dane County Judge William Foust overturned it April 8, stating it was unconstitutional.
