March 29 is the day on which Haiti’s constitution was written. President Jovenel Moïse wants to rewrite Haiti’s constitution to maintain power and increase his term until February 7, 2022.
Georgia January 20 Coalition demands Atlanta declare itself a sanctuary city
On Jan. 20, the Georgia January 20 coalition will hold a People’s Inauguration, demanding that the City of Atlanta declare itself a sanctuary city by addressing a list of demands to protect the human rights of our communities. The coalition will gather at 11 a.m. for a march starting from the Troy Davis Park.
Atlanta, GA – 14 student activists were arrested for occupying classrooms at three different universities in Georgia, the evening of Feb. 1 and early morning Feb. 2. They were part of an action of more than 90 students from more than ten different universities who were protesting the Georgia Supreme Court’s ruling banning undocumented students from suing the Board of Regents to gain in-state tuition. The court ruling effectively upholds the state’s policy that bans undocumented students from Georgia’s top five public colleges and universities.

Atlanta, GA – On April 23, the leadership of the International Brotherhood of the Teamsters (IBT) announced that the concessionary national UPS contract will go into effect this Friday, April 25. The contract – the single largest collective bargaining agreement in the country – was overwhelmingly opposed by Teamster members in Philadelphia, Western Pennsylvania and Louisville, Kentucky, who voted down their local supplements and riders twice. According to the terms of the national UPS master agreement, the contract cannot go into effect until all supplements have been ratified by the members.
