Salt Lake City protests Israeli military invasion of Gaza
Salt Lake City, UT – Over 100 people gathered in downtown here, July 25, to protest the Israeli military invasion of Gaza and the oppression of the Palestinian people. This is the second protest in the city since the start of Israel’s ground war on Gaza.
Protester’s chanted, “Free, free Palestine!” and “Money for jobs and education, not for Israel’s occupation!” on the grounds of the City and County building during Salt Lake City’s busy rush hour. This protest took place prior to a fundraising dinner in which all proceeds will be donated to Islamic Relief Worldwide.
Many of the protesters expressed dismay at the rising death toll of Palestinians due to Israel’s “Operation Protective Edge.” Rally leaders demanded an end to the Israeli Defense Forces’ brutal attacks on the Palestinian people.
To end the protest, a prayer was given in Arabic to wish peace on those suffering in Gaza. Another protest is planned for Salt Lake City on July 31 to show continued solidarity with Palestine and opposition to U.S. aid for Israel.
