Salt Lake City activists demand freedom for Tinley Park 5
Salt Lake City, UT – A dozen activists gathered at the Federal Building here, July 31, to demand the release of the Tinley Park 5. The Tinley Park 5 are anti-racist activists who were arrested and jailed after an alleged altercation with a white supremacy group, in Tinley Park – a suburb of Chicago.
The group chanted slogans including “From Disneyland to Anaheim, fighting fascism is no crime” and “When Neo-Nazis plot and attack, what do we do? Stand up, fight back!” They waved signs demanding the release of the Tinley Park 5 while being watched by over half a dozen uniformed police officers.
Later, the group marched to the local police station and continued chanting and demanding the Tinley Park 5 be released. Several protesters gave speeches detailing their own experiences with racism, and spoke of the need to militantly resist racist violence.
