Gainesville: Racist cops trying to move a wounded Kofi Adu-Brempong to a jail cell!
Gainesville, FL – There are widespread reports that Kofi Adu-Brempong, a graduate student who was shot in the face by a member of the University of Florida Police Department, will be moved to jail.
Justin Wooten, a leader of the movement to get justice for Kofi Adu-Brempong and a member of Students for a Democratic Society stated, “I was told on Sunday that the University Police Department is trying to move the student they shot, Kofi Adu-Brempong, out of the hospital and into a jail cell. Some think the reason why is to force Kofi to post bail, so the university administration no longer has to pay his medical bills and the burden would be on Kofi and his family.”
Wooten continued, “It was clear to me, after the coalition had a sit-down with a representative of the administration that they did not care about doing the right thing for Kofi, but only about protecting racist UPD officers and themselves from a lawsuit. Their goal is to wait until the semester ends, in hopes people will forget about Kofi. The administration of the University of Florida should ashamed of themselves. The coalition is going to have another rally, this Tuesday on April 6 at 4:00 p.m. to tell UPD and administration that we are going to fight back against this injustice.”
