Protests denounce Trump and Pence in Wisconsin
West Bend, WI – 75 people attended a protest outside a Donald Trump rally at the Washington County Fair Grounds on Aug. 16. Protesters held signs near the entrance to the Trump rally while thousands of Trump supporters walked into the event.
About two dozen pro-Trump vendors were set up in tents selling merchandise that included confederate flags, racist and sexist slogans, Islamophobic ‘jokes,’ “blue lives matter” slogans, and Trump/Pence images.
In the wake of the Milwaukee rebellion that started after a police shooting on Aug. 13, Trump adjusted his campaign schedule to host two events in Milwaukee just before the 7:30 p.m. rally in West Bend. Dozens of people gathered on short notice to protest outside the Pabst Theater while Trump was appearing on an hour-long Fox News town hall with Sean Hannity.
Just days earlier on Aug. 11, Trump's vice presidential candidate Mike Pence was disrupted at a Milwaukee rally three times. Immigrant rights activists from Voces de la Frontera held up banners and chanted, “No Pence, no KKK, no fascist USA.”
