PFLP leader says “Investigation must be carried out to hold accountable those responsible for Arafat’s death”
Fight Back News Service is circulating the following statement from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
The Deputy General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Comrade Abdel-Rahim Mallouh, said that a full investigation must be carried out following the Al-Jazeera report of the potential poisoning of the late President Yasser Arafat. He said that Arafat’s body should be exhumed to continue the investigation and that there is no religious or moral reason to prevent this.
Furthermore, Mallouh said that such an investigation can only help to expose the great crimes committed against our people, and that President Yasser Arafat paid a price for those crimes and those responsible must be brought to justice.
Mallouh noted that Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz, was also Israel’s minister of defense at the time of the death of President Arafat, and that Mofaz was responsible for a number of assassinations of Palestinian leaders including Comrade Abu Ali Mustafa, General Secretary of the PFLP, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Abdel-Aziz Rantissi, and likely a partner in the assassination of Arafat. He saluted the Palestinians for Digniity and the Palestinian youth and activists who protested and stopped the planned visit of Mofaz to Ramallah, saying that we do not even yet know the scope of all of the crimes committed by Mofaz and Israel against our people and its leaders around the world and in Palestine in particular.
