Minnesota says no to foreign policy of incoming Trump administration
Over 50 people gathered to protest the future foreign policy of a Trump administration on the Lake Street/Marshall Avenue bridge which spans the Mississippi River between Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
Marie Braun, a leader in Women Against Military Madness explained, “We are facing a deep and challenging emergency, with perpetual wars, 65 million refugees of war and violence, the growing climate crisis, economic inequality and continuing social and racial injustice. It is important that we continue to take action to dismantle the war machine and build a culture of peace with racial, economic and social justice that redirects the billions spent by the Pentagon to fund crucial programs for our people, our communities and our planet. This will only happen if we all commit to stay involved over the long haul.”
Protesters held signs that said “No U.S. war on Syria” and “Stop the war on Muslims at home and abroad” as drivers honked and waved peace signs on their commutes home.
The protest was sponsored by the Twin Cities Peace Campaign and the Women Against Military Madness End War Committee, and was endorsed by the MN Anti-War Committee and the Minnesota Peace Action Coalition.
