International Support of the WFTU to the March Against Unemployment organized by the city of Patras in Greece

The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) expresses its solidarity with the initiative of the City of Patras in Greece and the big march against unemployment, under the slogan “Work for all, work with rights”.
The march against unemployment organized by the City of Patras will begin on April 2nd and on April 10th after 10 days and a route of 220 km will arrive in Athens, Greece at Syntagma square, in front of the Greek Parliament. This initiative embraces unions, students and women associations and other massive organizations in the struggle against unemployment and for substantial relief measures for the unemployed workers and their families. It is an important initiative and support to the struggle of the working class in Greece, a country plagued by high unemployment rates (25% according to official sources), while thousands of workers suffer from underemployment, low salaries and bad working conditions.
It is a initiative of struggle of the militant doctor – Mayor Of Patras Costas Peletidis and the City Council of Patras against the consequences of the austerity memorandum policies, implemented at the expense of the Greek people, by the EU, the IMF and all the governments of Greece.
The WFTU, representing 92 million workers in 126 countries of the world, supports the mayor of Patras in this important initiative for the struggles of the working class in Greece. The WFTU will participate with its internationalist solidarity and calls all militant unions, its affiliates and friends all over the world, to express their solidarity in this effort.
