SDS demands Florida State University dump Trump campaign chair
Tallahassee, FL – A group of students gathered at Florida State University (FSU), Feb. 16, to demand Joe Gruters resign his position as head of the FSU Board of Trustees Finance Committee. Students oppose Gruters because he is the co-chair of the Florida Donald Trump campaign. Trump is widely known for promoting fear and hatred, especially towards Muslims and Mexicans.
The rally was part of a Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) “Dump Trump” week. A few days earlier, students held a Dump Trump piñata bash with nearly 100 students taking swings as others cheered them on. It was at the Dump Trump piñata bash that students began demanding Trustee Gruters step down.
“It is unacceptable that a mouthpiece for Trump like Joe Gruters be allowed to govern this university. As students opposed to racism we find this absolutely unacceptable,” said Zachary Schultz of SDS.
