NYC rallies for Palestine International Day of Action
New York, NY – On Friday, October 13, thousands rallied in New York City in honor of an International Day of Action called for Palestine. The action was organized by Within Our Lifetime.
The rally started near Times Square and included speakers from a wide array of organizations. Speakers addressed the recent Palestinian “Operation Al Aqsa Flood” begun on October 7, the ongoing Israeli occupation, and how the Palestinian struggle is connected to other struggles internationally and nationally.
New York City has a particularly entrenched relationship to Israel, including the New York Police Department training with Israeli Defense Forces soldiers. Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams vocally support Israel, with Adams recently visiting the apartheid state. The NYPD has had an increased and more violent presence at the recent pro-Palestine rallies, including the arrests of peaceful protesters.
After the speakers, the protesters marched through the city chanting loudly, “Free! Free! Palestine!”
