Milwaukee's immigrant community demands DACA legislation relief
Milwaukee, WI – Immigrants and community members gathered March 5 on Milwaukee’s south side, where the Young Peoples Resistance Committee (YPRC) led a rally, demanding that President Trump and the Republican-dominated Congress introduce legislation to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients.
March 5 marks the date that President Trump promised a DACA legislation piece would be introduced. There is still no sign that Congress is working on passing a DACA replacement legislation. Gerardo, a YPRC member stated, “We demand that Trump and Congress pass immigration legislation. We demand that the president and politicians stop using our families as pawns for their political gains. The fight will continue because our families can no longer wait for relief.”
YPRC will continue to organize and fight for immigrants in Milwaukee. YPRC demands for legalization for all, which would be the only policy that would leave no immigrant with an undocumented status.
