Biggest protest yet at Wisconsin Capitol
_150,000 workers and students say no to union busting _
Madison, WI – 150,000 strong, union members and students flooded the state capitol on Feb. 26, the strongest showing yet to oppose Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's all out assault on public sector unions.
It was the second straight Saturday in which the Capitol found itself packed inside and out. The march wrapped the entire capitol square in below freezing weather.
Solidarity rallies from coast to coast also took place. The 14 state senators remain in hiding, preventing a quorum needed to pass Gov. Walker’s Budget Repair Bill.
The Capitol remains a place where hundreds spend the night, including firefighters, pipefitters, students and steelworkers.
“Nobody can afford to be on the sidelines,” says Pastor Mose Fullerr of Milwaukee. Indeed, the people of Wisconsin agree.
