Los miembros de Centro CSO estaban saliendo de su reunión mensual cuando el LAPD respondió a una situación de salud mental. El incidente estaba directamente afuera del lugar de la reunión, que es en la alcaldía de Boyle Heights. Los miembros de CSO intentaban llegar a sus carros en el estacionamiento cuando el LAPD los paró de regresar a sus casas.

Tras salir de la alcaldía, el LAPD enfrentó a los miembros de CSO con agresión y los policías proclamaron que no se movieran. Un grupo de policías reconocieron a la hermana de 16 años de Jeremy Anthony Flores, y empezaron a acosarla y luego la arrestaron. Jeremy Flores fue disparado y asesinado por la misma división el 14 de julio de 2025. Además de eso, el hermano mayor de Flores, Sergio Flores, fue atacado y arrestado. El miembro de base de los Teamsters, Sam Carrera, también fue arrestado sin razón.

San José, CA – La Campaña de Justicia para Guillermo condena de manera inequívoca la decisión del juez de inmigración Steven M. Kirchner de ordenar la re-detención de Guillermo sin derecho a fianza. Esta decisión no solo viola el debido proceso, sino que quebranta la seguridad comunitaria que nuestros sistemas de justicia e inmigración dicen proteger. Guillermo luchó —y ganó— el derecho a que su caso fuera escuchado ante “juez neutral” mientras continuaba su proceso de rehabilitación. En cambio, fue arrestado nuevamente el Día de San Valentín. Guillermo Reyes fue violentamente detenido afuera de su hogar, procesado a través de Stockton ERO y transferido al Centro de Detención de California City—una antigua prisión que actualmente enfrenta una demanda legal en curso por condiciones abusivas de detención.

La decisión injusta del juez de inmigración expone una verdad estructural más profunda sobre el propio sistema de tribunales de inmigración: la neutralidad dentro del sistema no existe. Los jueces de inmigración operan dentro del mismo poder ejecutivo que impulsa detenciones masivas y deportaciones a costa de la vida humana. Desde 2025, jueces en San Francisco con tasas más altas de decisiones favorables han sido removidos, debilitando aún más cualquier afirmación de independencia. En el caso de Guillermo, el juez Kirchner eligió la re-detención por encima del bienestar y la estabilidad de Guillermo, avanzando aún más la campaña de deportaciones de Trump, la cual debilita la seguridad comunitaria y sabotea activamente los esfuerzos de rehabilitación de inmigrantes anteriormente encarcelados como Guillermo, quienes ya habían logrado su libertad.

Fight Back News Service is circulating the following statement from the Justice for Guillermo Campaign.

San Jose, CA – The Justice for Guillermo Campaign unequivocally condemns Immigration Judge Steven M. Kirchner’s decision to order Guillermo’s re-detention without bond. The decision not only violates due process, but it undermines the community safety our justice and immigration systems purport to protect. Guillermo fought for-–and won-–the right to have his case heard before “a neutral adjudicator” while he continued his rehabilitative journey. Instead, he was re-arrested on Valentine’s Day. Guillermo Reyes was violently abducted outside his home, processed through Stockton ERO, and transferred to California City Detention Facility—a former prison currently facing ongoing litigation over abusive detention conditions.

The immigration judge’s unjust decision exposes a deeper structural truth about the immigration court system itself: that neutrality within the immigration court system does not exist. Immigration judges operate within the same executive branch driving mass detentions and deportations at the expense of human life. Since 2025, San Francisco judges with higher rates of favorable decisions have been removed, further undermining any claim of independence. In Guillermo’s case, IJ Kirchner chose re-detention over Guillermo’s wellbeing and stability, further advancing Trump’s deportation campaign which undermines community safety, and actively sabotages the rehabilitation efforts of formerly incarcerated immigrants like Guillermo who have already won their release.

Beyond the structural problems with immigration court review, the process afforded to Guillermo was fundamentally unjust. Guillermo and his counsel were never told what evidence the judge considered in making his decision, and they were not given the chance to challenge evidence that was prejudicial or unreliable. Guillermo has not been convicted of any new offense. Recent arrests rest on unproven allegations; they are not evidence or convictions. Guillermo, just like any other person, is entitled to the presumption of innocence. 

This decision came down nearly 3 weeks after Guillermo’s bond hearing took place, and just 10 days shy of Guillermo completing an intensive residential treatment program addressing his mental health and wellness. Guillermo is more than the government’s narrative. He is a community member, a loved one, and a person actively committed toward stability and healing. He deserves due process. He deserves fairness. He deserves access to treatment in his community, not incarceration. 

We refuse to accept this injustice in silence. Join the Justice for Guillermo Campaign on February 20, at 12PM at 630 Sansome Street in San Francisco as we gather in public action. Los Angeles, CA – On the evening of February 18, LAPD Hollenbeck Division officers brutally assaulted and arrested multiple members of the Chicano group, Centro Community Service Organization (CSO). Sergio Flores, Sam Carrera and a minor individual were beaten with batons, shoved, and without warning, arrested.

Centro CSO members were leaving their monthly public meeting when LAPD responded to a mental health situation. The incident was directly outside of the meeting location, which is at Boyle Heights City Hall. CSO members were trying to get to their cars in the parking lot when the LAPD prevented them from going home.

Upon exiting City Hall, LAPD met CSO members with hostility and announced they would not be moving. A group of officers recognized the 16-year-old minor sister of Jeremy Anthony Flores, and began harassing her and then arrested her. Jeremy Flores was shot and killed by the same division on July 14, 2025. Additionally, the older brother of Flores, Sergio Flores, was assaulted and arrested. Rank-and-file Teamster Sam Carrera was also unjustly arrested.

The mother of Jeremy Anthony Flores, Isabella Rivera, was struck with an LAPD baton, and was shoved and detained by the same cops who murdered her son last summer. Katherine Palma, who is the sister of Flores, was thrown to the ground by a group of LAPD cops.

Centro CSO immediately mobilized and had a protest across the street from the arrest, gathering at LAPD Hollenbeck Division. Over a dozen members chanted and demanded the release of their members.

Centro CSO was able to have the minor released the same night. The next morning at 7 a.m., Sergio Flores was released. However, one activist is still detained: Teamster and CSO member Sam Carrera. He is being charged with resisting arrest, a charge known to be completely vague.

Santa Ana, CA – On Saturday, February 7, Santa Ana residents gathered to honor the one-month anniversary of the murder of Renee Good by Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathon Ross. The demonstration highlighted other victims murdered by ICE including Keith Porter, Alex Pretti, Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez and Geraldo Lunas Campos.

The crowd gathered on the corner of Bristol and 1st, a busy intersection. They marched across the intersection chanting, “Killer ICE off our streets!” and “Migra fuera de Santa Ana!”

Cars and pedestrians passing by the spirited crowd honked and chanted in support. Santa Ana has been hit with heavy ICE raids since the summer of 2025. Since then, the residents of Santa Ana have been protesting ICE, doing barrio walks to inform the community of their rights, and ICE watching.

The demonstration was put on by Community Service Organization Orange County in response to a call to action by the Legalization for All Network.

New Orleans, LA — On February 7, one month after the murder of Renée Nicole Good by ICE, the New Orleans Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression and the No Trump No Troops Coalition mobilized for a rally at Armstrong Park to continue to stand up against ICE and CBP’s reign of terror.

The rally was called in response to the Legalization for All Network’s Day of Action, demanding justice for all killed by ICE and prosecution of killer cops like Johnathan Ross. The rally also uplifted the demand of legalization for all immigrants.

A crowd of about 40 people rallied around as chants for “No more deportations!” and “¡Chinga la migra!” rang through the park. Consistent protests and noise demonstrations are appearing to be effective – on January 26, Gregory Bovino, the so-called “Commander-at-Large” of the United States Border Patrol was relieved of his Minnesota command by President Trump.

Chris Maldonado of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) spoke out about Bovino’s demotion, exclaiming, “People like Bovino shouldn’t just be allowed to step down; they should be thrown under the jail!”

The Trump administration has wielded ICE terror as a means to silence dissent and instill fear under the guise of law and order. Maldonado continued, “This violence and terror is fundamental to how the billionaire ruling class maintains its order and grows its profits.”

Palestine solidarity activist Sruly Heller of New Orleans Stop Helping Israel’s Ports (NOSHIP) said, “The only law and order that exists in America is the reality of what happens between you and a police officer.”

“We uplift legalization for all as a demand of our movement because no one should be criminalized for migration. Many of our immigrant brothers and sisters from Latin America and elsewhere are fleeing the consequences of U.S. imperialism: sanctions, unlivable wages and super exploitation, or otherwise. All people deserve to live with dignity and respect regardless of their citizenship or ability to work,” said Toni Mar, another member of FRSO.

These rallies show that despite the Trump administration and the ruling class’s efforts to instill fear, people continue to show up and organize.

Austin, TX – The Austin Immigrant Rights Action Committee (AIRAC) hosted a speakout on Saturday, February 7, in response to the call put out by the Legalization for All Network for a National Day of Action in solidarity with Minneapolis.

A dozen community members gathered at the south steps of the Texas capitol, maintaining the call for justice for victims of ICE terror and reiterating their demand for an end to local police collaboration with ICE.

After leading a round of chants, Jesse Valdelamar of AIRAC stated, “Around the country, people are demanding real change from our government. What has Mayor Kirk Watson done about the raids and police collaboration with ICE?” The crowd responded resolutely, “Nothing!”

Chants of “No cages! No raids!” and “Fuck ICE!” were met with enthusiasm by passersby and tourists, some of whom stopped to join in the chants, and drivers stopped at the nearby intersection honked and rolled down their windows to shout their approval.

Mia Reballosa of Austin Students for a Democratic Society said, “The past has shown us time and time again that the people are the ones who win. When communities come together to fight for one another, to care for one another, that’s when we are able to overcome these conditions of fear, death and violence. ICE out of Austin! ICE out of Texas!”

Jacksonville, FL – Over 100 community members in Jacksonville took to the streets on February 7 to demand ICE out of their city. Protesters filled the streets with chants such as, “ICE out of Jax now!” and “No hate! No fear! Immigrants are welcome here!”

This protest comes in the wake of escalations that ICE has enacted on people across the country, as well as news that the Trump administration plans to buy large warehouses to convert into detention facilities like the ones just recently purchased in cities such as San Antonio, Phoenix and Philadelphia.

Speakers condemned the actions ICE has taken against those speaking up for their communities, such as Ya'akub Ira Vijandre, who has been held in ICE detention in Folkston, Georgia since October of 2025 for his pro-Palestine activism.

Speakers echoed words of grief, as they urged the crowd to remember those murdered by ICE, like Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good. They also connected their struggles to the struggles that immigrants currently face in this country, reminding us that we are all fighting the same enemy.

Organized by the Jacksonville Immigrant Rights Alliance (JIRA), this call to action had local activists from organizations throughout Jacksonville speak in solidarity with JIRA. Organizations who spoke at the rally included the Jacksonville Palestinian Solidarity Network, Jacksonville Community Action Committee, 50501 Veterans, Florida Rising, Democratic Socialists of America, Students for a Democratic Society, and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization.

JIRA organizers ended the rally by urging those in attendance to join an organization if they have not already done so. They also planned more calls to action such as their upcoming event on February 15, which is part of a larger call to action by the Legalization for All network. This event is focused on supporting the VISIBLE act put forth by Florida politicians Angie Nixon and Carlos Guillermo Smith. JIRA also has a general body meeting on February 28 for those interested in joining the organization.

Chicago, IL— Hundreds of protesters gathered in downtown Chicago’s freezing wind on Saturday, February 7 to honor one month since the murder of Renee Good at the hands of ICE and to demand justice for those killed by ICE. The protest was called by the Coalition Against the Trump Agenda in response to a national call for action from the Legalization for All Network.

In Chicago, the demand for justice and accountability is targeted at Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen Burke, who has consistently stood on the side of corrupt and violent police officers and against the people’s movements.

A week ago, prompted by the growing public demand for ICE accountability, Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order directing the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to watch for illegal activity by ICE agents and report felony charges to the State’s Attorney at the mayor’s direction. Burke opposed the order in an internal memo to her staff, calling it “inappropriate,” and claiming it would interfere with her office’s ability to prosecute federal agents.

Nick Sous, an organizer with the Arab American Action Network (AAAN), called out Burke’s hypocrisy in his remarks at the protest, “The only thing in the way of Eileen Burke prosecuting killer cops or ICE agents is Eileen Burke.”

In her first week in office in December 2024, Burke dropped the charges against Oak Lawn Police officer Patrick O’Donnell, who had helped beat Arab youth Hadi Abuatelah within inches of his life, along with two other officers in 2022.

Johnnie Showers, a member of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression and wife of wrongful conviction survivor Devon Showers, also spoke at the protest. Showers has seen the corruption of CPD and the state’s attorney’s office firsthand in her struggle to free her husband and called for solidarity in the fight to hold both ICE and CPD accountable.

Showers said that ICE and CPD are “working together against us, the working class, the ones that pay their bills,” Showers said. “They are kidnapping us and killing us in the jails. So we need to stand in solidarity and make sure we stop them. We need to fight back.”

Marien Casillas Pebellón, executive director of the West Suburban Action Project (PASO), addressed the crowd and raised the collective demand for accountability for the continued violence on the part of ICE agents and the entire Trump administration against our communities.

“We want ICE out of everywhere,” Pebellón said. “We want those in charge prosecuted. They accuse us of being criminals. The criminals are in the White House right now”

Angel Naranjos, a leader in the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, closed the rally with spirited remarks, “If the past few weeks have taught us anything, it’s that things must change and they must change fast.”

Naranjos continued, “Donald Trump and his corporate media love to say that we are domestic terrorists when we confront ICE—that we should protest peacefully. But we say it is right to rebel.”

After the program, the protesters took to the streets and marched north to Trump Tower, chanting a message for Trump and all his criminal ICE agents, “Lock them up! Lock them up!”

Washington, DC – On Friday, February 6, DC organizations joined the call from the Legalization for All network for a National Day of Action in solidarity with the ongoing struggle against ICE terror in Minneapolis and across the country.

Around 50 community members, organizers and activists were out in the street demanding “ICE out!” “Justice for all victims of ICE terror!” and “Legalization for all!” with temperatures well below freezing. Protesters faced down federal and local police. The people were not deterred and protested right up to the barricades of ICE headquarters.

The National Day of Action fell one month after the cold-blooded murder of community observer Renee Good. The DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR), alongside Families Not Feds (FNF), Movimiento Migrante DC, Youth Demand Action, 50501DC, Freedom Road Socialist Organization – DC, and DC Against the Trump Agenda Coalition, hosted the action outside ICE headquarters in Southwest DC.

A member of DCAARPR told the crowd, “This is an ICE Out rally; we want to, and need to kick ICE out of our city, but we also need to keep ICE out. Just a few minutes from here, there is a plan to build another ICE headquarters. It is no coincidence that this is happening in Southeast, a historically Black and brown section of the city.”

He also discussed the case of Phillip Brown, a Black man, who was shot at by a Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) officer, and barely escaped with his life. There is concrete evidence that the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) covered up for HIS.

A member of Anakbayan DC stated, “Renee Good is another victim of a corrupt, unjust system that treats human beings as disposable. It is a system that has been upheld by both parties and several administrations with our taxpayer dollars. Her murder is a reminder that the government does not care about us.”

Many of the participating organizations have been on the ground in DC leading mass mobilizations against ICE and, more broadly, the racist and reactionary Trump.

The protest finished with a speech by Cameron McLaren, an organizer with Freedom Road Socialist Organization – DC., who stated, “We are fighting for a system where no human is illegal, and that starts with legalizing everyone. Legalization for all! We have a collective duty in this moment to stand together, to unite all who can be united, and to fight for a future that belongs to all of us.”

En el último mes un total de seis inmigrantes indocumentados han muerto a manos de ICE.

The Legalization for All (L4A) Network is calling on all affiliated cities to act NOW. Community observer Renee Good was killed by ICE on January 7th. This is why L4A is calling for a national day of action on the one month anniversary.

As ICE continues their terror — raiding, killing, and disappearing undocumented immigrants and also U.S. citizens, we must stand up and fight back. Together we will protect our Mexicano, Centroamericano, Somali families. As well as anyone under attack by ICE.

On January 14th, Nicaraguan immigrant Victor Manuel Díaz (detained in Texas) and Mexican immigrant Heber Sanchaz Domínguez (detained in Georgia) died under ICE custody and under very suspicious circumstances. In the last month a total of six undocumented immigrants have died at the hands of ICE.

Minnesota taught us all that when we unite and fight back, we can kick ICE and local authorities out of our barrios. Even Border Patrol’s Greg Bovino was sent packing.

Los Angeles, CA – On Saturday, January 24, Centro CSO answered an emergency call to action from the Legalization For All Network in response to ICE and US Border Patrol's second open murder in Minneapolis. Over 100 people gathered at Mariachi Plaza for a rally and vigil to stand in solidarity with Minneapolis and demand justice for Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse and community observer who was attacked and brutally murdered.

While the Trump administration and Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino tried to paint Alex Pretti as a domestic terrorist who was at the scene of a raid to massacre federal agents, evidence from three videos with different point of views showed he was trying to protect a woman shoved to the ground before he was pepper sprayed, beaten and then killed. Alex Pretti’s murder comes approximately two weeks after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good.

Nadia Topete of Centro CSO started the rally and uplifted the names of five-year-old Liam Ramos and his father who were kidnapped by ICE on January 20 and used as bait to take more family members from his home when he rang the doorbell. “This is unacceptable!” said Topete. “Shame on the United States for letting this ongoing harassment towards Raza and terrorizing our communities and for kidnapping our brothers and sisters!”

Carlos Montes of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization and Centro CSO spoke about how Trump’s racist policies against immigrants comes from how the United States is based upon the national oppression of Chicanos. According to Montes, putting an end to these attacks requires revolution.

Juan Parrino of Los Rucos said, “America declares that it has an immigration problem, well it does and it all began in 1492 with the arrival of the first Europeans. Masked federal agents occupying our cities and attacking protesters and killing peaceful observers, I say ya basta! Only the people can save the people!”

Eloisa Galindo of Eastside Padres Contra la Privatización spoke about how Trump and privatizers are attacking public schools. Trump’s immigration policies have led to fear and a decrease in enrollment, causing budget losses and teacher cuts. Sergio Flores, the brother of Jeremy Flores who was murdered by LAPD last summer, connected the murders of Pretti and Good to police brutality in Los Angeles.

Sol Marquez of the Legalization for All uplifted the names of the many people killed by ICE before raising the demand for Legalization for All stated, “Someone once asked why legalization for all? Right, because they have the power to do it right now! That’s what we want legislation across the board for all 12 million undocumented.”

The crowd then went to the sidewalk waving signs, flags and banners chanting, “Justice for Alex Pretti” and “ICE out of LA!”

Today, January 24th ICE has shot and killed another ICE community observer in Minneapolis. On January 15th, ICE also shot Venezuelan immigrant Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis in the same city. This comes less than 3 weeks after Renee Good was killed! ICE is on a killing rampage, escalating their attacks. These killings are on top of more than 30 people who have died while in ICE custody.

The Legalization for All (L4A) Network calls on all L4A affiliates to hold emergency actions immediately, and as soon as today! We must stand in solidarity with those fighting back in Minneapolis!

Chicago, IL – Over 600 community members and organizers gathered at the Little Village Arch in vigil and protest in solidarity with the immigrant rights movement in Minneapolis on Wednesday, January 7. Protesters demanded justice for all victims of ICE, ICE out of everywhere, and legalization for all immigrants living in the U.S. as a part of a national emergency call for action called by the Legalization for All Network in response to the murder of Renee Nicole Good.

As a historically Mexican and Chicano neighborhood, Little Village (La Villita) was one of the hardest hit areas of Chicago during Operation Midway Blitz.

Irma Morales, a community organizer from Mientras Haya Amor, Hay Esperanza, rallied the crowd with a rousing speech. “Hoy estamos aquí, para presionar a los departamentos que están a cargo de proteger y cuidar a los residentes de esta ciudad porque para eso se les está pagandom – para proteger y cuidar a los residentes pagadores de impuestos de la ciudad de Chicago, no para proteger a verdaderos criminales (Today we are here to pressure the departments that are charged with protecting and caring for the residents of this city, because that is what they are paid to do – to protect and care for the taxpaying residents of the city of Chicago, not to protect real criminals).”

Morales pointed out examples of ICE’s frequent traffic violations, use of force and violence against Black and brown communities, CPD-ICE collaboration, and the racist killings of innocent people.

“We have Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez back on September 12, who was just dropping his child off at school. And today, this morning, we have Renee Nicole Good, who was just observing and trying to take care of her neighbors,” said Ash Pantoja, co-chair of the Immigrant Rights Working Committee of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (IRWC of CAARPR). They highlighted the contradictions in ICE’s excuses.

“They call this self-defense, but what is ICE really defending themselves from?” said Pantoja.

Johnnie Hayes of CAARPR’s Campaign to Free Incarcerated Survivors of Torture (CFIST) held her grandchild as she spoke. “ICE needs to go. They need to go, and they need to be held accountable.” Hayes, whose husband Devon Showers is currently wrongfully incarcerated, drew patterns between corruption on Chicago’s police force, wrongful conviction, and ICE detentions. She called for solidarity between all movements. “We have to stand firm together in solidarity. We have to stand firm in solidarity. We have to stand strong, not just for ourselves, but our children need this. Our children need us to stand up for them.”

In the middle of the rally ,at 8 p.m., attendees joined protests and vigils nationwide in a minute-long whistle in honor of Renee Nicole Good. Throughout Trump’s escalation of raids and attacks on immigrants, whistles have become a symbol of resistance and solidarity in the movement as community members use them as an alert system for ICE presence.

Gio Araujo of the New Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) at the University of Illinois – Chicago, who grew up in Little Village, stated, “The gunshots that were fired in the Twin Cities were heard all across the country. Everyone heard those gunshots, from New York, to D.C., to Chicago! People are mobilizing, because we know what this means and what this is about. This is an upswing of repression against our movement for immigrant rights. They wanna come into our communities and kill our people.”

“We ain’t gonna let that shit happen, because as they bring the repression, so will we bring the defenses,” said Araujo.

As the Little Village Community Council led the crowd in prayer and vigil service, protesters also marched down 26th Street to the mural of La Virgen de Guadalupe, shouting “Say her name! Renee Nicole Good!” and “ICE is just a racist mob, get a real fucking job!” There, they held a moment of silence for all victims of ICE and reminded attendees to call the Family Support Network Hotline at (855) 465-7693 if they spot ICE in their neighborhoods.

Tampa, FL – Several hundred people gathered downtown Tampa in front of City Hall Saturday, January 10, to express their anger at the killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis by ICE agent Jonathan Ross and at Trump for unleashing ICE onto immigrants and the vast community who supports them. Protesters gathered as part of the 50501 National Day of Action: ICE Out For Good.

Renee Good was observing a raid when several ICE agents approached her vehicle. As she drove away, ICE agent Jonathan Ros shot her three times, killing her on the scene.

At Tampa City Hall, protesters held signs that read “No due process for one is no due process for all,” “Justice for Renee Nicole Good, and “Chinga la migra.” People shouted “Trump escucha, estamos en la lucha,” “No fear, no hate, no ICE in our state” and “No boots on the ground, no ICE in our streets, end 287(g).” The event received much support from passing by drivers

Speaking about their motivation to attend the rally , Heather Winniestaffer of Indivisible said, “Detentions, deportations and murder committed by ICE; the list is long.”

Yunqing Zheng spoke for the Tampa Immigrants Rights Committee which is Tampa's affiliate of the Legalization For All Network. Zheng began by denouncing the killing of Renee Nicole Good and went on to name several other people assassinated by ICE including Silverio Villegas Gonzalez who was killed during a traffic stop in Chicago; Keith Porter Junior, shot and killed by ICE New Year’s Eve, and the Venezuelan couple who were shot by ICE a couple of days ago in Portland, Oregon.

“We are here to demand ICE out of everywhere,” said Zheng to an enthusiastic audience. They spoke of immigrant mothers in Tampa who have been cruelly and unjustifiably separated from their infant children. They decried Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, Tampa City Council, and Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw for signing onto the 287(g) agreement which has the local police functioning as ICE agents. “We’re here to call out the complicity of our local officials in Tampa in the violent ICE arrests that we've seen in our own city,” said Zheng.

This event was the third consecutive immigrants’ rights rally held at Tampa City Hall in response to increased ICE violence around that country.

Detroit, MI – On January 7, crowds of people rallied and marched to demand justice and protest the murder of Renee Good. Comité de Acción Comunitaria – Detroit (DCAC) organized an emergency protest just hours after reports came in as part of a national campaign with the Legalization for All network to condemn this killing and the attacks on our communities.

The action began with a rally, where protesters gathered on a cold dark afternoon at the ICE headquarters in downtown Detroit, waving Sanctuary City Now signs and chanting “City council cut the ties, we won’t pay for ICE’s crimes,” “No justice, no peace, no racist police” and “Say her name!”

Jackson Robak, a Freedom Road Socialist Organization member, stated, “It is our duty to build a movement that can fight back and make this country ungovernable.”

Robak honored Good’s memory calling her a “martyr of the immigrants’ rights movement” and saying “the monopoly capitalists would eat their own if they could to make a dollar or make profit. But that’s what makes us different, the masses of people, is we care about our own, we remember our own, we honor our martyrs.”

Sofia Marx, a member of the Wayne State Students for a Democratic Society stated, “This unjustifiable abuse of authority is a stark reminder of ICE’s seemingly unchecked power.”

Marx spoke about the need to fight back, “The Trump administration wants to scare us, they want us to stay silent, to hide, to accept these escalations and to allow our peers to be ripped away without a fight but we are not going to allow the continuation of these unchecked attacks on our peers.”

Relating Detroit to Minneapolis and Chicago, Kassandra Rodriguez of Comite de Acción Comunitaria stated, “How long will our local governments watch as their residents are murdered and terrorized in the streets? They treat us like animals, like our people don’t matter. Murdering us in broad daylight, taking our children to school like Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez and now standing up for our neighbors.”

Rodriguez spoke of the need to fight back “We cannot wait for what is happening in Minneapolis, in LA, in Chicago to happen here in Detroit. We need to stand up for the immigrants in our communities now. Now is the time to fight back. Now is the time to kick ICE out of our community and out of our city.”

The Legalization for All Network is angered at this act of terror and murder in Minneapolis!

On Wednesday, January 7th, ICE shot and killed a 37-year-old woman who was observing at an ICE raid on 34th Street and Portland Avenue. A video recorded at the scene shows at least three ICE agents surrounding the victim’s vehicle, followed by gunshots. She died at the scene.

This is an escalation of repression in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area as ICE continues their raids. US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem traveled to MSP on January 6th, bringing a massive presence. And today, January 7th, Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino was present in the Twin Cities. ICE and the occupation in MSP are showing the country that they are not backing down in 2026. ICE also announced that it would be sending an additional 2000 ICE agents to Minnesota.

If they are not backing down, neither should we! We must fight back as the Trump administration escalates their attacks on the undocumented and the immigrant rights movement. As the Legalization for All Network we will continue mobilizing and protesting, and we call on all affiliated cities to organize an action NOW condemning this killing and attacks on our barrios!
