Santa Ana, CA – El martes 21 de abril, los residentes del parque de casas móviles Coach Royal exigieron que Kingsley Management Corporation se retire de su parque. Phil Bacerra, tú trataste de intimidarnos cuando fuimos a tu oficina. Tú, Jonathan Hernández, necesitamos que nos respondas también. Fuiste y nos apoyaste, y necesitamos más de tu apoyo. City Manager, necesitamos de tu ayuda. Valerie Amezcua, sé que mi presencia no te agrada, pero nos dijiste que ibas a sacar las armas grandes. ¡Te estamos esperando!” Mientras se retiraba, la alcaldesa Amezcua se río de ella. Mientras los residentes hablaban, miembros de CSO OC y residentes desplegaron una pancarta que decía: “¡Kingsley fuera!”. Diana Terreros, de CSO OC, recordó al consejo que los residentes de Coach Royal son, en su mayoría, inmigrantes de clase trabajadora quienes sus hogares constituyen su refugio durante la administración Trump. Terreros declaró: “Las acciones de Kingsley van en contra del espíritu de toda la ordenanza de ciudad santuario. Están explotando el miedo de los inmigrantes en Santa Ana. Esperan que ese miedo sea suficiente para obligar a los residentes a mantener la cabeza baja y la boca cerrada. Están explotando a esta comunidad y su temor para aumentar sus ganancias, robándoles sus hogares. Se trata de una corporación multimillonaria de Utah. ¿Por qué permitimos que exploten a Santa Ana de esta manera?”

Otro miembro de CSO OC resumió los cientos de miles de dólares que los grupos que representan a los propietarios de parques de casas móviles han donado en contra de la campaña a favor de la Ordenanza de Estabilización de Alquileres y Desalojo por Causa Justa, la cual fue aprobada en octubre de 2021. También han realizado donaciones a las campañas de los miembros del concejo. Santa Ana, CA – On Tuesday, April 21, residents of Coach Royal mobile home park demanded Kingsley Management Corporation get out of their park. Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) joined them to demand the city council intervene against years of harassment, unjust evictions, home theft, and intimidation by the corporation. The abuse resulted in the suicide of resident Maria Pedraza, whose home was in the process of being taken after years of sacrificing to purchase it.

Karla Alvarado, one of the residents whose home was stolen, stated: “The city of Santa Ana has already met with 45 residents who can testify to this. 45 residents and counting. We have spoken to people across multiple parks. The stories are consistent, the tactics are consistent, and the outcomes as well. That is the definition of a systemic issue.”

Lupe Barragan, a resident and organizer, looked at and pointed directly at each council member as she spoke. “You need to respond! Phil Bacerra, you tried to intimidate us when we came to your office. You, Jonathan Hernandez, we need you to respond to us too. You came to support us and we need more of that. City manager, we need your help. Valerie Amezcua, I know my presence doesn’t please you, but you told us you were going to get out the big guns. We are waiting for you!” As she walked away, Mayor Amezcua laughed at her. Barragan turned around, pointed at Amezcua and scolded her for being disrespectful.

Sylvia Ayala, another resident, told the council, “I’ve lived here for 40 years and I’ve never gotten any help from you. Because you don’t care about the people; you only look out for yourselves. You work, but we have to work more than you. The humiliation that people with money have done to us is not fair.”

While the residents spoke, CSO OC and residents unfurled a banner reading “Kingsley fuera!” The camera began frequently changing angles to avoid showing the banner on screen. At one point, four Santa Ana Police Officers approached the organizers and told them they must move to the back if they are going to hold a banner, despite nobody complaining about an obstructed view.

When Rain Mendoza of CSO OC went up to make public comment, she first held up the banner and told the council to look at it and show it on camera.

Mendoza responded to the council’s frequent response that they cannot do anything because the park is private property, stating, “You sued El Centro Cultural de Mexico, a pillar in this community, so you can use your cops to toss homeless people’s belongings in the trash and push them out of a place where they were allowed to stay by the private property owners. So, you can do all that and use the courts, the police, and all your resources to terrorize a very vulnerable community, but you can’t lift a finger when there is a company that operates in Santa Ana that acts like thugs? Shame on you!”

Diana Terreros of CSO OC reminded the council that the residents of Coach Royal are mainly working-class immigrants whose homes are their refuge during the Trump administration. Terreros stated, “Kingsley’s actions go against the spirit of the entire sanctuary city ordinance. They are exploiting the fear of the immigrant population in Santa Ana. They are hoping the fear will be enough to force the residents to keep their heads down and their mouths shut. They are exploiting this community and their fear to increase their profits by stealing their homes. This is a multi-million dollar corporation from Utah. Why are we allowing them to exploit Santa Ana like this?”

Another member of CSO OC summarized the hundreds of thousands of dollars that groups representing mobile home park owners have donated against the campaign for the Rent Stabilization and Just Cause Eviction Ordinance that was passed in October of 2021. They have also donated to council member’s campaigns. He asked council members, “Is this what’s influencing your frequent responses that there is nothing you can do to enforce what you know is unjust and illegal acts by Kingsley against the Coach Royal residents?”

Santa Ana, CA – The afternoon of April 8, roughly 60 residents from across Orange County chanted “Money for jobs and education, not for war and occupation!” They gathered to protest and demand an end to yet another war in the Middle East. The U.S. and its proxy Israel have been carrying out attacks against Iran for over a month, causing civilian deaths and a global economic crisis. Trump issued a series of threats over Easter weekend, including promising the “death of an entire civilization” and destruction of civilian infrastructure if Iran did not open the Strait of Hormuz by April 7. He gave in just hours before the supposed deadline.

Rain Mendoza of Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) told the crowd, “The ceasefire that has been reached between the U.S. and Iran is being painted a victory for the U.S. when in fact it could not be further from the truth! Trump threw a tantrum and gave an ultimatum and when he wasn’t getting his way, he back-peddled.”

A Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) member stated, “The ceasefire declared between the U.S. and Iran is an illusion of peace, used to signal to investors calm markets and to protect their profits, not to end the attacks and the displacement of our people across the region. Less than 12 hours later, the machinery of war was back with full scale escalation!” She condemned Israel’s missile strikes across Lebanon that caused over 500 civilian deaths and injuries in less than ten minutes earlier that day.

“As long as I have been alive, we have always been at war in the Middle East, in a war for oil and resources. We need to stop the needless violence and bring peace to the region by getting out of there!” said a member of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

Diana Terreros of FRSO stated “The U.S. has been in a decline for a long time while the socialist countries and the oppressed peoples of the world are winning. The U.S. billionaires feel the power of the resisting forces and Trump is lashing out!”

Terreros added, “Chicanos have a long history of opposing war because we understand that we share an enemy with the oppressed people of the world. The U.S. also oppresses us right here at home. We've experienced lynchings, land theft, police killings, deportations all at the hands of the U.S. government.”

A member of Irvine Muslim Activists (IMA) stated, “We want our tax dollars to stay home and provide education, to take care of the people; why are we going to go ahead and fight a war for Israel?” Trump and U.S. imperialists are demanding more funding for war, including $1.5 trillion in defense spending next year and an extra $200 billion for the current conflict. This comes as the working class is already facing increased gas prices and future increases to the cost of everyday needs.

The attendees, including refugees of previous U.S. wars, rallied and marched at the intersection of Bristol and 1st Street while waving signs that read “No war with Iran!” and chanting “No boots on the ground, no bombs in the air! U.S. out of everywhere!” The busy intersection was travelled by cars honking and people shouting in support.

The protest was assembled by FRSO with the support of PYM, DSA, IMA, and other local organizations.

Mendoza closed the event by inviting people to join FRSO, stating, “We the Freedom Road Socialist Organization are committed to socialist revolution through building a political party and organizing shoulder to shoulder alongside the masses fighting for police accountability, anti-war, labor rights and more!” For those interested in joining, visit frso.org.

La protesta comenzó con fuerza, con residentes y miembros de la Organización de Servicio Comunitario Orange County (CSO OC) manifestándose frente a la entrada de Coach Royal. Los manifestantes coreaban consignas y portaban pancartas, haciéndose visibles ante los residentes que entraban y salían del parque.

“¡Kingsley mata!”, “¡Manos fuera de nuestros hogares!” y “¡Justicia para Maria Pedraza!”, gritaban los manifestantes.

Luis Pedraza, hijo de la difunta Maria Pedraza, hablo primero. “Mi madre se suicidó el 20 de febrero de 2026 debido al abuso que sufría por parte del parque de casas móviles Coach Royal, que es propiedad y está administrado por la corporación Kingsley. Trabajó toda su vida para ser dueña de esa casa. Era su orgullo y su alegría. Compró esa vivienda con el fruto de todo nuestro trabajo”.

Los manifestantes se acercaron con atención mientras Pedraza relataba historias sobre su difunta madre: “Vivimos en todo tipo de condiciones: en una sola habitación, en un garaje diminuto. No pasé la Navidad ni el Año Nuevo con mi madre porque ella estaba trabajando. Desearía haber tenido eso. Pero sí tenemos esa casa, y Kingsley está intentando robársela.” Los manifestantes corearon al unísono: “¡Qué vergüenza!”.

“No es justo que hagan esto aquí, ni en ningún otro lugar del país. Esto está ocurriendo en todas partes, pero tiene que parar y tiene que cambiar. Así es como suceden las cosas en este condado: nos movilizamos, actuamos, nos unimos, nos convertimos en un solo movimiento y, entonces, las cosas cambian”, concluyó Pedraza.

Victor Fuentes es otro residente de Coach Royal que enfrenta el desalojo. Se quitó el sombrero para el sol antes de hablar, revelando una gran cicatriz con puntos de sutura que le recorría todo el cuero cabelludo. “Todos estamos aquí para poner fin a las represalias, la represión y el acoso. Mi familia y yo estamos desalojados ya. Todos hacemos cosas de las que nos arrepentimos y, para desestresarme, comencé a beber. Tuve una gran caída y no recomiendo usar la bebida para ahogar los pensamientos y las preocupaciones. Soy el proveedor de mi familia y ahorita no puedo mantener un techo sobre mi familia.”

Fuentes continuó: “Vine a dar este testimonio porque ya basta. Ya basta de que nos pisen el cuello. Están tratando de callarnos. Esto debe parar. ¿Qué más tenemos que perder? Para todos los que estamos aquí, les costó mucho tener sus casas. Nos están robando nuestras casas descaradamente. No es justo. Exigimos justicia. ¡Tenemos que luchar porque si solo uno de nosotros se niega a luchar, ellos seguirán pisoteándonos!

Los manifestantes estallaron en cánticos: “¡Detengan los desalojos! ¡Detengan el acoso! ¡Detengan las amenazas!”.

La última oradora fue Karla García, quien fue desalojada de su hogar por ayudar a otros residentes de Coach Royal a luchar por los títulos de propiedad de sus casas. “Intenté ayudar a otros residentes y fui castigada por eso. La corporación volvió a presentarse en mi casa y me advirtió que, si seguía ayudando a los demás, terminaría en la calle. Comenzaron a acosarme, intimidarme y amenazarme. Fui atacada día tras día hasta que me arrebataron todo”.

La protesta concluyó con Guadalupe Barragán recorriendo los vecindarios de Coach Royal con un megáfono, instando a los residentes a levantarse y luchar. Más tarde esa misma noche, se tuvo una reunión entre los residentes y los miembros de CSO para trazar la estrategia de los próximos pasos en la lucha por la justicia para los habitantes de Coach Royal.

Santa Ana, CA – La tensión fue palpable el martes 17 de marzo, cuando residentes de Santa Ana, junto con la Organización de Servicios Comunitarios del Condado de Orange (CSO OC), asistieron a la sesión del Concejo Municipal. Exigieron que los policías asesinos Luis Casillas e Isaac Ibarra fueran despedidos del Departamento de Policía de Santa Ana (SAPD).

El 1 de diciembre de 2024, Noe Rodríguez fue asesinado por la Policía de Santa Ana. Jocelyn Pacheco, de CSO OC, declaró: “Noe Rodríguez estaba desarmado y atravesando una crisis de salud mental. Fue entonces cuando los agentes del SAPD, Luis Casillas e Isaac Ibarra, le dispararon 29 veces. Las imágenes de las cámaras corporales muestran que abrieron fuego apenas 30 segundos después de la llegada de los agentes”.

Hacia el final de la intervención de Pacheco, le cortaron el micrófono, a pesar de que solo se había pasado por 17 segundos del tiempo asignado. Los asistentes a la reunión gritaron: “¡Déjenla hablar!” y “¡Qué vergüenza!”.

Matthew Compton relató un incidente ocurrido con el agente Ibarra el 18 de febrero, afirmando: “Miembros de CSO, junto con la familia de Noe Rodríguez, se encontraban fuera del Departamento de Policía de Santa Ana grabando videos. Isaac Ibarra salió deliberadamente del departamento, justo hacia donde estábamos parados, en un intento de intimidarnos”.

Compton continuó: “Isaac nos dio un codazo tanto a mí como a otro miembro de CSO; más tarde me golpeó con el hombro y lanzó un golpe falso a otro miembro de CSO. Isaac es una persona sumamente inestable mentalmente y no se le debería permitir formar parte de la fuerza policial, y mucho menos portar armas letales”.

En respuesta a otros comentarios que expresaban inquietudes sobre el comportamiento del agente Ibarra, la alcaldesa Valerie Amezcua—quien recibe fondos de campaña de la Asociación de Agentes de Policía de Santa Ana—declaró lo siguiente: “Le pedí a mi esposo que viera ese video con el agente Ibarra, y sentí mucha pena por él”. Y continuó: “Creo que se comportó de una manera que me hizo exclamar: ‘¡Vaya!’. Es una situación difícil; él simplemente iba caminando hacia su auto”.

Ustedes están más preocupados por una carta constitutiva y por postes de luz que no reparan que por personas que están perdiendo la vida.” Arzola señaló que el alcalde no estaba prestando atención y permanecía encorvado durante los comentarios del público.

La familia de Noe Rodríguez, junto con CSO OC y residentes de Santa Ana, llevan más de un año luchando para obtener justicia para Noe Rodríguez. Los miembros de CSO declararon que no se detendrán hasta que Luis Casillas e Isaac Ibarra sean despedidos y encarcelados por sus crímenes.

Santa Ana, CA – El 26 de febrero, 20 miembros de la comunidad marcharon a lo largo de Civic Center Drive para confrontar al Departamento de Policía de Santa Ana (SAPD). Cantos como “¡Cárcel para los policías asesinos!” y ”¡La migra, la policía: la misma porquería!” resonaron por todo el vecindario, mientras los residentes hacían sonar sus bocinas en señal de solidaridad. Los asistentes portaban pancartas que exigían justicia para Noe Rodríguez, así como otras en referencia a víctimas recientes de la violencia policial.

Noe Rodríguez fue asesinado mientras se encontraba desarmado y en medio de una crisis de salud mental en diciembre de 2024. Las solicitudes de registros públicos realizadas por la Organización de Servicio Comunitario Condado de Orange (CSO OC) revelaron que los agentes de SAPD responsables de su muerte—Luis Casillas e Isaac Ibarra—continúan trabajando para SAPD y fueron movidos discretamente a otras unidades.

Santa Ana, CA — El sábado 7 de marzo, cerca de 50 miembros de la comunidad se congregaron en el parque El Salvador para el Día Internacional de la Mujer. A pesar de las intensas ráfagas de los vientos de Santa Ana, los participantes mantuvieron el ánimo en alto. Condenaron los numerosos ataques perpetrados contra las mujeres y las personas LGBTQ por parte de la administración Trump.

La escritora local Anatalia Valdez presentó poesía oral centrada en las conexiones ancestrales y la justicia social. En los árboles que rodeaban a la multitud en el parque colgaban carteles que rendían homenaje a varias mujeres, entre ellas Emma Tenayuca, Renee Good y Dolores Huerta.

Guadalupe Barragan, residente y organizadora del parque de casas móviles Coach Royal, animó a la multitud con un discurso apasionado. “Vivo en un complejo de casas móviles y estamos teniendo un muy mal rato. Santa Ana, CA – On Saturday, March 21, Coach Royal Mobile Home residents protested at the entrance of the mobile home park. The protest was in response to yearslong abuse at the hands of the park managers, eviction, and theft of mobile homes by Kingsley Corporation. There was also a recent suicide of resident Maria Pedraza due to the abuse. The Coach Royal residents are majority working-class immigrants.

The protest started strong with residents and supporters from Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) protesting in front of the Coach Royal entrance. The protesters were chanting and holding signs, making themselves visible to the residents entering and exiting the park.

“Kingsley kills!” “Hands off our homes!” and “Justice for Maria Pedraza!” shouted the protesters.

Luis Pedraza, son of the late Maria Pedraza, spoke first, “My mom committed suicide on February 20, 2026, because of the abuse that she was sustaining from Coach Royal mobile home park that is owned and managed by Kingsley corporation. She worked her whole life to own that home. That was her pride and joy. She bought that home with all of our work.”

The protesters and passersby leaned in as Pedraza recounted stories of his late mother, “We lived in all kinds of states: in a single room, in a tiny garage. I didn’t have Christmas or New Years with my mom because she was working. I wish I had that. But we do have that house and Kingsley is trying to steal that from us.” The protesters chanted in unison, “Shame!”

“It is not fair for them to be doing this here or anywhere in the country. This is happening everywhere in the country but this needs to stop and needs to change. That’s how things happen in this county. We move, operate, get together, we become one movement and then things change,” ended Pedraza.

Victor Fuentes is another Coach Royal resident who is facing eviction. He took off his sun hat before speaking to reveal a large scar with stitches running all across his scalp. “We are all here to put an end to retaliation, repression and harassment. My family and I have been evicted. We all do things we regret and to de-stress myself I began to drink. I had a great fall and don’t recommend using it to drown out your thoughts and worries. I am the provider of my family and now I can’t keep a roof over my family's head.”

Fuentes continued, “I came to give this testimony because enough is enough. Enough of stomping their foot over our necks. They are trying to silence us. This must stop. What else do we have to lose? For everyone here, it costs them so much to own their homes. They are shamelessly stealing our homes. It is unjust. We are demanding justice. We need to fight because if even one of us refuses to fight they will keep trampling over us!”

The protesters erupted in chants, “Stop the evictions! Stop the harassment! Stop the threats!”.

The last speaker was Karla García, who was evicted from her home for helping other Coach Royal residents fight for their home titles. “I tried helping out other residents and I was punished for it. The corporation once again came to my home and told me that if I did help out others I would end up homeless. They started harassing, bullying and threatening me. I was attacked every single day until they took everything from me.”

The protest ended with Guadalupe Barragan on a megaphone marching through the Coach Royal neighborhoods urging the residents to stand up and fight back. A meeting was held later in the evening for residents and CSO members to strategize on what the next steps will be in the fight for justice for the Coach Royal residents.

Santa Ana, CA – Tensions rode high Tuesday, March 17, when Santa Ana residents, along with Community Service Organization, Orange County (CSO OC) attended city council. They demanded that killer cops Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra be fired from Santa Ana Police Department.

On December 1, 2024, Noe Rodriguez was murdered by Santa Ana Police. Jocelyn Pacheco of CSO OC stated, “Noe Rodriguez was unarmed and experiencing a mental health crisis. When SAPD officers Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra shot him 29 times. Bodycam footage shows that they opened fire within 30 seconds of the officers arriving. “

Towards the end of Pacheco’s comment her mic was shut off, despite only being 17 seconds over time. Attendees of the meeting yelled “Let her speak!” and “Shame!”

Matthew Compton talked about an incident that occurred with Officer Ibarra on February 18, stating, “Members of CSO along with the family of Noe Rodriguez were outside Santa Ana Police Department recording videos. Isaac Ibarra intentionally left the department where we were standing in an attempt to intimidate us.”

Compton continued, “Isaac elbowed both myself and another CSO member, then later shoulder-checked me and threw a fake punch at a different CSO member. Isaac is highly mentally unstable and should not be allowed on the force let alone carry lethal weapons.”

In response to more comments with concerns about officer Ibarra’s behavior, Mayor Valerie Amezcua, who receives campaign funding from the Santa Ana Police Officer’s Association, had this to say: “I had my husband watch that video with Officer Ibarra, and I felt really bad for him.” She continued with “I think he behaved in a manner where I was like wow. It’s a hard thing, he was walking to his car.”

Family members impacted by police violence were present, including Noe Rodriguez’s family and the family of Albert Arzola. He was only 19 years old when he was killed by Anaheim police officers on December 6, 2025.

Grace Arzola called out the council, stating: “Valerie and Phil, body language is everything. You guys are more concerned over a charter, and light poles not being fixed than you are with people losing their lives.” Arzola pointed out that the mayor wasn’t paying attention and was slouched over during public comments.

David Pulido, a CSO OC member mentioned “Luis Casillas killed two people within one month. Noe Rodriguez on December 1, 2024 and Henry Gonzalez Jr on January 1, 2025. Casillas was also involved in a brutal beating of a 15-year-old minor Mario Diaz. For all his crimes, SAPD has not fired Luis Casillas. Instead, they moved him from patrol to the crimes against persons division.”

Pulido concluded, “We demand Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra be fired before they can kill again! If you do nothing, then the blood will be on your hands. The blood is on the hands of Police Chief Robert Rodriguez. The blood will be on your hands, City Manager Alvaro Nunez. The blood will be on any councilmembers who stand against accountability. That will be your legacy, and we will never let anyone forget that!” The audience applauded and cheered.

As the meeting ended, some council members, like Jonathan Hernandez, showed support for the firing of Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra. Others showed their disdain towards Santa Ana residents.

The family of Noe Rodriguez, along with CSO OC and residents of Santa Ana, have been fighting for over a year to seek justice for Noe Rodriguez. CSO members declared that they will not stop until Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra are fired and jailed for their crimes.

Santa Ana, CA- On Saturday, March 7, about 50 community members rallied in El Salvador Park for International Women’s Day. Despite the intense gusts of Santa Ana winds, participants remained in high spirits. They condemned the many attacks on women and LGBTQ people by the Trump administration.

Rain Mendoza from CSO OC’s immigration committee kicked off the speeches and talked about the impact ICE terror, stating, “An example of this are the many women who have miscarried at detention centers, women who were sexually assaulted by ICE impersonators, and the rape of a Nicaraguan detainee at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center.”

Rachel Pozos, co-founder of AlianzaTransLatinx talked about her experience living in Orange County as a trans, immigrant woman for the last 21 years. “I haven’t always been seen by society with the dignity I deserve. Even then, I get up every day with the force that my identity gives me.” Pozos added, “Being an immigrant has taught me to value my roots, to hold on to my culture, and remember that there are a lot of us who have crossed borders for a better future where we can be ourselves, without fear or shame.”

Local writer Anatalia Valdez presented spoken word poetry focused on ancestral connections and social justice. Posters honoring several women, including Emma Tenayuca, Renee Good and Dolores Huerta, were on the trees surrounding the crowd in the park.

Guadalupe Barragan, a resident and organizer of the Coach Royal mobile home park, energized the crowd with a fiery speech. “I live in a mobile home park and we are having a terrible time. The managers and the owners of the park harass the residents, they take their homes. There was even a death. This person ended up taking their own life. We need to stand up for our rights!” Barragan called out the owners of the park, stating, “The Kingsley corporation are murderers, thieves, and we are not going to allow it!”

While speeches went on, park users started to gather at the event to listen in. In the background, children made art at CSO OC’s childcare station.

The women fighting for justice for their loved ones killed by police were highlighted during the program. A statement by Erika Armenta was read. She is the wife of Noe Rodriguez, who was killed by Santa Ana Police in December 2024. She and her daughters have been driving the fight for justice and to hold the officers responsible accountable.

Pearl Arzola, sister of Albert Arzola who was killed by Anaheim Police in December of 2025 spoke on being a single mother of three while fighting for justice. “There are days where the weight feels heavy, where sleep is short, and when you question if you’re doing enough. But women keep going. Mothers keep going. We push forward. Not for ourselves but for our children and for the generations that come after us.”

A DJ set by Tan Tan Club played in the background of a program intermission as participants visited the organizational tables set up around the park. Francis Co. and the Lusitanos also performed music delivering stories of life in Santa Ana.

Hala Nakhoul of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network (USPCN) spoke about coming to the U.S. as a teenager, a choice made out of desperation by her mother, stating, “We thought that America was the land of the free and the home of the brave, but after over 40 years living in this country, it has been my experience that this is the land of proxy wars for our occupier Israel.”

Diana Terreros of Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) stated, “Right now we see a feminism that celebrates the bombing of Iran in the name of liberating women while ignoring that one of the first bombings in this war killed more than 100 girls at an elementary school.” Terreros concluded, “Over time, I realized, like many women before me have realized, that women cannot be free until we establish socialism through a revolution. I joined FRSO because I'm serious about making this happen.”

The crowd ended the event strong by marching towards Civic Center Drive to hold a sign-waving. Signs read “Stand with immigrant women” and “Stop the deportations – keep families together.” They chanted “Trump escucha, estamos en la lucha!” as cars driving by honked in support.

The event was organized by CSO Orange County and endorsed by USPCN, United Domestic Workers, FRSO, Pride at the Pier, AlianzaTransLatinx, South Asian Network, and more.

Era un chicano de 19 años de Santa Ana que fue atropellado y asesinado por el sargento Carlos Coronel, agente de policía de Los Ángeles fuera de servicio y en estado de ebriedad, el 1 de febrero de 2025. Coronel huyó del lugar sin llamar a los servicios médicos ni alertar a la policía. La familia de Imanol, incluyendo su madre, Ariana Salvador, asistió a la inauguración del mural. Santa Ana, CA – On February 26, 20 community members marched along Civic Center Drive to confront the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD). Chants of “Jail killer cops!” and “La migra la policía, la misma porquería!” echoed throughout the neighborhood while passing locals honked in solidarity. Attendees waved signs about Noe Rodriguez that demanded justice, as well as other recent victims of police violence.

Noe Rodriguez was killed while unarmed and experiencing a mental health crisis in December of 2024. Public records requests made by Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) revealed that the SAPD Officers responsible for his death, Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra, still work for SAPD and have been quietly moved to other units.

Jocelyn Pacheco of CSO’s Police Accountability Committee (PAC) presented the facts of Noe’s case, stating “Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra, the officers responsible for his murder, continue to serve on the force, even after shooting him 29 times. How can that be justified as self-defense?”

Erika Armenta, Noe’s widow, called out anti-accountability council members, stating “Some representatives tell us we can’t fire the officers while they are under investigation for an incident, but who can guarantee that our communities are safe from repeated violence?”

Both officers have been involved in other cases of misconduct and death since killing unarmed Noe Rodriguez. Casillas shot and killed Henry Gonzalez Jr on January 1, 2025, who was also suffering from mental illness, including suicidal behavior.

Ibarra was involved in the brutal arrest and in-custody death of Freddy DeAngelo Washington on January 16, 2025. He later took part in the beating of 15-year-old Mario Diaz, who had to be taken to a hospital for injuries despite surrendering to police – this was documented in a video dated June 9, 2025.

Less than two weeks before the protest, members of CSO OC, including Noe Rodriguez’s two young daughters, were approached by Officer Isaac Ibarra while holding a press conference in front of the department.

Matthew Compton of CSO shared, “When we started filming Ibarra and confronted him with his crimes, he lied and said we threatened and assaulted him. The truth is that he repeatedly tried to provoke us to fight him.”

Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) member David Pulido spoke in Spanish about how the long pattern of police killings of Chicanos are a feature of national oppression and said, “We need a revolution to establish working-class political power and liberate oppressed nations like Aztlan. That is the solution to these racist police killings!”

The march was led by Noe Rodriguez's family and CSO OC, and supported by Chicanxs Unidxs (CU) and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Legal observers from the Peace and Justice Law Center (PJLC) also came in solidarity with the community.

CSO OC fights for Chicano self-determination, community control of the police and legalization for all undocumented immigrants. They have general meetings every third Thursday in Santa Ana, and can be reached on Instagram @cso.oc and Facebook, Orange County CSO.

Santa Ana, CA – A large mural depicting Noe Rodriguez now stands in downtown Santa Ana. About 200 feet away, Rodriguez was killed by Santa Ana Police officers Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra on December 1, 2024.

Last Sunday, February 22, over 25 residents, including Noe's wife Erika Armenta and their daughters, celebrated the man Noe was in life. They, alongside many other impacted family members, demanded justice for his death. All speakers used Spanish, the primary language spoken by Noe and by many residents of Santa Ana.

Abraham Quintana from Community Service Organization (CSO OC) said, “We are united here today to commemorate Noe’s life in a mural that shows us and the world who he really was, and not the image that our enemies have tried painting. This mural was made possible by months of grassroots organizing and pressure, and especially Erika herself, who has fought tirelessly for justice for Noe Rodriguez. This mural is important not just as a victory, but as a sign that we are in a new stage of that struggle.”

Next to speak was Erika Armenta, the wife of Noe Rodriguez and a member of CSO OC, “Every step that we take, small as it may seem, is a big step towards a great change for our city. We represent those who do not have a voice nor a vote, and who the police are treating as criminals – including us! It has been a very difficult struggle because they are treating us as if we are against public safety.”

Armenta was referring to attacks by the Santa Ana Police Officers Association (SAPOA), which has smeared CSO as being “anti-public safety” while also spreading lies about its members. The SAPOA spends hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting politicians like Mayor Valerie Amezcua along with Councilmembers Phil Bacerra and David Penaloza, and tens of thousands supporting candidates to unseat progressive politicians on the city council. Armenta said, “They have tried to make our struggle impossible, but our strength to go forward is greater!”

Armenta concluded by saying, “Our unity as CSO has built a family. I feel very happy for my daughters: I asked them, ‘What is CSO?’ They told me that for them, it is a family. Because like a family, it supports us, it helps us. And it doesn’t matter that we’re not related by blood because we are in the same fight!”

Armenta also spoke on behalf of the family of Imanol Gonzalez. He was a 19-year-old Chicano from Santa Ana who was struck and killed by drunk, off-duty LAPD Sergeant Carlos Coronel on February 1, 2025. Coronel fled the scene without calling for medical help or alerting police. Imanol’s family, including his mother, Ariana Salvador, joined the mural unveiling. CSO demands that Sergeant Carlos Coronel be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. You can sign a petition to support these demands here.

The family of Albert Arzola also came to support. Albert Arzola was a 19-year-old Chicano who was killed by Anaheim PD on December 6, 2025. Officers profiled Arzola, leapt out of an unmarked car and chased him towards his front porch. One officer shot Arzola in the back and killed him, and police detained his family including small children for hours while they ransacked his home.

Albert Arzola’s mother, Rosie Camacho, said, “I am here to support everyone who has also suffered from police violence. We are not alone! We want justice! And we are going to have justice!” Camacho continued, saying “Whoever wronged us should not keep working for the law, because they already took the life of my son: Albert Arzola. We will not be silenced!” The Arzola family demands the release of all body camera footage from the incident, the release of the autopsy report, and the release of the officers’ names.

The mural of Noe Rodriguez was completed by artists Jose Ortiz and Esteban Ginez, who was present at the unveiling. CSO presented Ginez with a certificate of recognition for his work. Santa Ana City Councilmember Jonathan Hernandez helped commission the artists and secure the mural location. In 2021 Hernandez’s cousin, Brandon Lopez, was chased by Anaheim PD and killed in Santa Ana. Hernandez is a frequent target of Valerie Amezcua, Phil Bacerra and David Penaloza.

CSO closed the event with music by Banda Cuisillos de Arturo Macías, Noe’s favorite music, while Erika Armenta served pozole she prepared for the attendees. The mural symbolizes the dignity of Noe Rodriguez and other victims of police violence. It refuses to let the city forget what happened over one year ago to a 31-year-old working-class Chicano, a kind father and husband struggling to survive as many do in the Southwest.

The mural stands less than a mile from where other Chicanos were recently killed by police: Victor Lopez in 2026 and Miguel Chavez in 2022. But less well known is the racist lynching of Francisco Torres in 1892, only five minutes away. The long legacy of racist violence against Chicanos speaks to the other meaning of Noe’s mural – the struggle for Chicano Liberation continues. But as Erika Armenta said, “our strength to go forward is greater.”

Santa Ana, CA – On Wednesday February 18, Erika Armenta and other members of Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) were holding a press conference outside Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) when they were approached by Officer Isaac Ibarra. Ibarra was one of the officers who shot unarmed 31-year-old Noe Rodriguez on December 1, 2024. Erika Armenta was Noe’s wife. CSO OC members followed Ibarra to confront him for his crimes.

David Pulido said, “This is Isaac Ibarra! He killed a father, a 31-year-old father on December 1, 2024! He shot him 11 times! He and his partner, Luis Casillas, who shot him 18 times! And he doesn’t like that we’re filming him and holding him accountable! You fucking killer! How dare you!”

Isaac Ibarra turned suddenly and lunged towards activists. When they didn’t respond, he changed his tune, saying “Don’t walk behind me! I’m taking that as a threat” and “don’t grab me” even though activists were not touching him and captured the whole incident on video.

CSO OC is demanding that the officers responsible for Noe's death be fired, including Ibarra. They were at the department due to information gathered from a Public Records Act request. Through this request, CSO revealed that Isaac Ibarra and Luis Casillas continue working and have simply been moved to other divisions. Casillas now works in the “Crimes Against Persons Division” and Ibarra works in the “North Area Command Division.”

When Ibarra passed them again, Erika Armenta clutched her daughters closely and said, “May God forgive you: these are the daughters that you made orphans!” and “Look at them closely! You left them without a father! Look at them!”

Matthew Compton said, “You’re a fucking killer dude! You should answer for your damn crimes!”

Isaac Ibarra called the police on activists and lied, claiming that activists pushed him. This lie is contradicted by video footage. In fact, Ibarra pushed activists three times. By the time several patrol cars arrived, Ibarra made one last attempt to provoke a fight, approaching David Pulido within inches of his face and saying that “I’m not at work right now” as an apparent threat.

After the incident Erika Armenta spoke one last time in front of the police station, stating, “I am a member of CSO and we are committed to the fight for police my husband left out accountability.”

Armenta said, “One of the officers who murdered is in the front entrance and passed by me and my two daughters. I believe it was on purpose. Because this department has many exits, not only this front entrance. And he knows us now. We have gone to the city council to speak and put forward our demands for justice for my husband. We are demanding an independent investigation! All they have done is moved the officers to other parts of the department. That is not justice!”

Armenta continued, saying, “This fight does not end here! Recently Santa Ana police killed another man. In a video we saw him with his hands up, and the police have not released the body camera footage. But when the police arrest people with weapons or things like that, the next day they release the footage, at their convenience.”

Armenta referred to the January 28 police killing of 18-year-old Victor Lopez, who was killed in front of his fiancé and one-year-old child in the parking lot of his apartment. Lopez was surrendering to police when he was killed. His family demands the full body camera footage from the incident.

CSO OC continues to demand that Officers Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra be fired from Santa Ana PD and that the incident be independently investigated by Santa Ana’s Police Oversight Commission.

Santa Ana, CA – On January 24, nearly 100 community members from across Santa Ana gathered on the corner of Bristol and 1st Streets chanting “Killer ICE, off our streets!” The protesters demanded justice for Alex Pretti, the latest victim of killer federal agents terrorizing Minnesota. They also demanded ICE out of Orange County and an end to deportations across the country.

Diana Terreros of Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) opened the event by stating, “We are here because a Border Patrol agent shot and killed Alex Pretti just this morning in Minnesota. Alex Pretti was a community ICE watcher and an ICU nurse. The agents that gunned him down in broad daylight shot him over ten times like cowards!”

Terreros added, “We are here in solidarity with Minnesota! We are also here because our own city has been under attack by ICE agents since Trump took office and this week they have been on a rampage in Santa Ana and Orange County as a whole! We want them out of our city, out of our county.”

Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) member Matthew Compton stated “In Santa Ana we have seen an increase in ICE raids and guns being drawn on ICE watchers. But when Santa Ana PD shows up, they point their weapons at the people who are fighting back against Trump’s agenda.”

“These killings, all this violence will not simply end! We must put a stop to it! We must organize ourselves and collectively fight back! This administration allows for this violence to happen and denies any sort of accountability. So we the people must demand it! We must fight for it,” urged Rain Mendoza of CSO’s Immigration Committee.

Thomas Crisp of Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE) stated, “When parents are taken from their children by masked thugs, when Keith Porter or Renee Good is shot for attempting to non-violently resist brutality, these are violations of human dignity.” They also called for a moment of silence while candles and flowers were laid out to honor victims of ICE agents.

Drivers honked in support throughout the event and while protesters marched down Bristol Street. Protesters took up all lanes of traffic and carried signs demanding ICE out of Santa Ana and justice for victims of ICE. Chants of “Chinga la migra!” and “Legalization for all!” echoed through adjacent neighborhoods.

The protest was organized by CSO OC with the support of other local groups including FRSO, CLUE, and more.

Santa Ana, CA – On Saturday, February 7, Santa Ana residents gathered to honor the one-month anniversary of the murder of Renee Good by Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathon Ross. The demonstration highlighted other victims murdered by ICE including Keith Porter, Alex Pretti, Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez and Geraldo Lunas Campos.

The crowd gathered on the corner of Bristol and 1st, a busy intersection. They marched across the intersection chanting, “Killer ICE off our streets!” and “Migra fuera de Santa Ana!”

Cars and pedestrians passing by the spirited crowd honked and chanted in support. Santa Ana has been hit with heavy ICE raids since the summer of 2025. Since then, the residents of Santa Ana have been protesting ICE, doing barrio walks to inform the community of their rights, and ICE watching.

The demonstration was put on by Community Service Organization Orange County in response to a call to action by the Legalization for All Network.

Santa Ana, CA – On Monday, January 26, over a dozen Santa Ana residents and activists spoke at the city council meeting to defend the Police Oversight Commission (POC). They demand that the city stop attacking the POC and preserve its ability to hold police accountable. Despite being established in 2022, the commission has not reviewed a single complaint due to delays in hiring staff and open attacks on the commission’s legal authority.

David Pulido, member of Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) stated, “We cannot take a single step backward on police oversight under the Trump administration. Last year Trump signed an executive order to train police to be more aggressive, to expand police protections and to weaken oversight.”

Pulido continued, saying, “Last year police-backed Councilmembers Valerie Amezcua, Phil Bacerra and David Penaloza tried to remove pro-accountability Commissioner Amalia Mejia. Then, city staff claimed that they needed to change the commission, so it complied with state law. The changes would strip the power of the commission and its ability to investigate police violence. They claimed it was to avoid lawsuits, but the city was facing at least four lawsuits from families whose loved ones were killed by police: two from the family of Noe Rodriguez, one from the family of Luis Amezcua, and one from the family of Miguel Chavez.”

Pulido concluded, “The approach of Santa Ana to police killings is clear: cover them up, settle lawsuits with the victims, and let killer cops roam our streets. Shame!”

CSO OC members, including Erika Armenta, wife of Noe Rodriguez, held signs that said, “Independent investigations now!” and “The police can’t police themselves!” These referred to the city proposal to have the commission “audit” or review investigations by Santa Ana PD’s own Department of Internal Affairs.

Bulmaro Vicente of the non-profit organization CHISPA said, “Staff’s recommendation to move towards an audit-only model is a step backwards. Instead, the city must preserve the following core powers: retain independent investigative authority, including the ability to investigate serious and deadly use of force, maintain the commission’s ability to make disciplinary recommendations based on the findings of those investigations,” among other powers.

CSO OC member Matthew Compton said, “This commission was established due to community concerns about SAPD misconduct. Those concerns and the misconduct still remain.”

Compton went on to describe the in-custody death of Freddie Washington on January 16, 2025. “SAPD officers beat Freddie and treated him like he was less than human.” Despite Public Records Act requests for the full body camera videos of all officers involved, Santa Ana PD has delayed the release for months.

Compton said, “In the era of Trump, where federal and local police violence is being uplifted, we must protect police oversight, since SAPD refuses to protect residents of Santa Ana.”

Abraham Quintana, member of CSO OC, said, “We cannot gut the oversight powers before they’ve even had a chance to be tested!” He added, “Over the last year we have seen Santa Ana PD violate reporting standards for military equipment usage, we’ve seen them sign agreements with FLOCK for automatic license plate readers that lead to ICE detainments, and all while the city paid out millions in lawsuits for police misconduct. Let’s also not forget that they withheld 42 ICE notifications over the summer and are likely still not sharing that kind of information with the public. We need community control of the police!”
