Brooklyn, NY – On the early evening of April 3, a dozen people gathered outside of the Metropolitan Detention Center to observe Good Friday. The vigil was called by Black Alliance for Peace on what is also the three-month anniversary of President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores’ kidnapping.

On January 3, the Trump administration launched an attack on Caracas, Venezuela to kidnap the two government officials. In the process, they murdered over 100 people. Some of the people murdered couldn’t even be identified because all that was left of them was a melted body.

The protesters took turns giving speeches, saying the names of the deceased, and lighting candles to honor those who had been martyred.

The speakers expertly connected the religious overtone of the day to martyrs in Venezuela and Cuba. They brought up the ongoing war for oil, the blockade in Cuba, and how U.S. imperialism is teetering on the edge of self-destruction.

The protesters are part of a loose coalition of solidarity for Venezuela who will continue to show up on the 3rd of every month until President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores are free!

New York, NY – On March 26, around 100 people gathered at 8 a.m. across the street from the Southern District of New York courthouse in solidarity with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.

Government officials and the defense appeared before a judge to determine whether or not the two could use their own lawyers. The defense argued that the kidnapped couple have a right to due process, and that the entire trial is unconstitutional, violating the 6th Amendment.

The action was organized by a coalition of anti-war organizations in New York City that have been organizing around the Maduro and Flores case since January 3.

Michela Martinazzi of Brooklyn Against War led the protest. Martinazzi told the crowd, “We do not want our tax dollars to go to war, plunder and genocide. We do not want our tax dollars to go to illegal kidnappings of foreign government officials. The Venezuelan people have a right to decide their own future and destinies. It is not up to the United States. We demand that all charges are dropped and that President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores are returned safely to Venezuela.”

The crowd in the plaza chanted, “From Venezuela to Iran, no more sanctions, no more bombs!” and “Free the prisoners, free them all! Free Maduro from these walls!”

The opposition and anti-Maduro forces showed up as well. They brought with them an effigy of Maduro and hung it from a tree – a disgusting show of cruelty and racism. Many of the opposition resorted to name-calling and slurs as they attacked the pro-Maduro forces. There were a few instances where the opposition tried to enter the protest and disrupt, but the pro-Maduro forces were organized and prepared. They easily pushed out the counter-protesters.

Tom Burke, the organizational secretary of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, said, “Trump’s trial of President Maduro is a political trial meant to portray the upstanding and righteous leader of Venezuela as something else. Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are being punished for standing up to the U.S. empire interfering in their country. The whole world sees Trump and Wall Street attempting to dominate Venezuela’s oil, minerals and economy.”

The protest ended with a march out of the area to end on a high note. While the hearing didn’t determine whether or not Maduro and Flores can use their own funds for their defense, the protesters were resolute in their determination to keep fighting to get the charges dropped.

Washington, D.C. – On Sunday, March 22, activists from around the DMV [DC, Maryland and Virginia area] embraced the unseasonable 85-degree F spring heat and gathered in front of the State Department with signs that read “No U.S. war on Venezuela” and “Freedom for Maduro now.”

“In five days, the U.S. intends to put Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on trial in a kangaroo court,” said a member of the Anti-War Committee DMV, “Trump thinks he can get away with kidnapping foreign presidents just to get his way, we’re here to show him we won’t let that happen!”

While the group initially gathered in front of the State Department, a quick decision was made to march down to the White House, to meet the large crowds of people that were there on a hot and sunny Sunday. The gathered their things and sprang into action. Chants of “We want peace, you say how! Freedom for Maduro now!” and “From Venezuela to the Philippines! Stop the U.S war machine!” boomed from the speaker system as the group made their way onto Constitution Avenue.

As they passed by the parks, DC residents who were there began to join in, whether chanting along or moving to the rhythm. This prompted calls of “Let’s tell them what the people need! Out of the park, into the streets!” from the marchers, at which point some observers even began to get up and join the march.

When they arrived at the White House, the group stationed themselves directly in front of Lafayette Park. This caught the attention of several National Guard troops nearby; the crowd turned their attention to them with chants of “Troops go home!” which several passersby responded to by joining in with fervor.

DC Against the Trump Agenda leader Merawi Gerima told the crowd, “I grew up here in DC, as a native Washingtonian, and we know firsthand what it feels like to be occupied with these National Guard troops,” said Gerima, “that’s why we fight for an end to occupation of Venezuela, a free Maduro; we also fight for an end to occupation of Iran, an end to sanctions on Cuba, and an end to U.S. occupation everywhere.”

The action was a joint effort of AWC-DMV, Anakbayan DC, International League of Peoples Struggles (ILPS), Freedom Road Socialist Organization DC (FRSO DC), DCATA, and the DC Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (DCAARPR).

The DCAARPR representative stated, “The greatest weapon in the hands of the people is our unity and unity is the greatest fear of our enemies! When we fight together, we win together!”

Brooklyn, NY — On the rainy and blustery evening, March 3, around 50 people gathered in front of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

The protesters hailed from various antiwar organizations, such as Brooklyn Against War, Workers World Party, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, the Venezuela Solidarity Network, Black Alliance for Peace, and Bronx Antiwar.

March 3 marks the second month since President Maduro and First Lady Flores were kidnapped by the U.S. government. They are currently awaiting trial based on sham charges at the Metropolitan Detention Center.

The action was part of a day of action called by the UNAC, and the Antiwar Action Network.

Despite the frigid temperatures and rain, the protesters were passionate in their chants and speeches. Chants included “We want justice, you say how? Free Maduro right now! Free Cilia right now!”

Michela Martinazzi, a member of Brooklyn Against War, opened the action by saying, “We’re here because the U.S. government feels like they have a right to kidnap a democratically-elected president of a sovereign nation. This is wrong! This entire case is wrong!”

Sara Flounders of the Workers World Party spoke of the importance of showing solidarity with the people of Venezuela, stating, “We are joining thousands of people around the world. We are joining thousands of Venezuelans who want their president back.”

The rally continued with powerful speeches and with a message from Roger Waters, of Pink Floyd, who called into the rally to deliver a message of solidarity.

The action ended with Martinazzi reminding the crowd to continue showing support for President Maduro, Cilia Flores, and Venezuela on March 8 for International Women’s Day, and March 26 for their next court appearance.

Brooklyn, NY — On February 3, dozens of people gathered outside the Metropolitan Detention Center to mark the one-month anniversary since the United States attacked Venezuela and kidnapped President Maduro and First Lady Flores.

The rally was called by the Venezuela Solidarity Network, and several important anti-war organization endorsed and attended, such as Workers World Party, Black Alliance for Peace, Palaver Collective and Brooklyn Against War.

Mumia Abu-Jamal, a current political prisoner, called into the protest via phone to give a speech in solidarity for Maduro and Flores, stating, “An empire attacks a poor, weaker state, and demands the lion’s share of its richest raw material – oil. Why is it not a stick up?”

Members of several organizations gave powerful speeches, urging the crowd to fight for Venezuela, President Maduro and First Lady Flores.

The rally ended with a recorded message by Nicolás Maduro Guerra, President Maduro’s son, who urged the people of the United States to keep fighting and that Venezuelans are fighting with them.

Chicago IL – On Saturday January 10, 50 people attended a reportback from Jae Franklin, who traveled to Venezuela for the International People’s Assembly for Sovereignty and Peace of Our Americas in December. This event came a week after Trump’s attack on of the country and kidnapping of democratically-elected President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.

The masses of Venezuela have taken to the streets demanding the return of the president and “First Combatant” and in defense of the Bolivarian Revolution against U.S. imperialism. Franklin is a co-chair of the Anti-War Committee – Chicago (AWC), which has answered the call of the Venezuelan people by taking to the streets and demanding U.S. hands off Venezuela.

The audience chanted, “Caracas, Aguanta! El pueblo esta levanta! (Caracas, hold on! The people are standing up!)” led by emcee Gio Araujo with Freedom Road Socialist Organization FRSO at the start of the program.

“The people of this country understand that the U.S. is the aggressor,” said an activist with Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) Chicago.

“There are those in Venezuela who want capitalism to return, and they are in the minority. There are those in the Philippines who are nothing but greedy and suck on the people,” said Di Balitaan from Anakbayan USA. Balitaan also demanded the release of Chantal Anicoche, who was abducted by the armed forces of the Philippines on January 1.

The room was filled with people eager to learn about the Bolivarian Revolution and the role that international solidarity plays against U.S. imperialism. Franklin recounted how Simón Bolívar fought Spanish colonialism in the 1800s and abolished slavery after spending time in Haiti while exiled.

While in Venezuela, Franklin visited several communes, which are territories with a political structure that manages the means of production. Venezuela has 4000 such communes

“Communes are a way for people to build power,” Franklin said. The delegation heard a speech from President Maduro at Comuna Amalivaca. He spoke about the process of transformation in Venezuela and the need to combat imperialist lies.

Franklin described their joy at seeing how Maduro’s party, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) was composed of young people, queer people and women.

Franklin presented videos of Venezuelan people dancing to revolutionary music during the conference. Their tireless drive for self-determination mirrors the videos and images of the Chavistas in the streets protesting the American imperialist invasion. They also showed pictures of publicly accessible medicine cabinets in the communes, and a billboard celebrating the Palestinian resistance.

“When we say ‘Hands off Venezuela’ we also mean ‘Free Palestine’ and ‘ICE off our streets’ and ‘Justice for Laquan McDonald!’” Franklin declared. “We have to weaken U.S. imperialism every way we can from here within the belly of the beast.”

Franklin encouraged attendees to keep demanding the release of President Maduro and Cilia Flores, and to support AWC’s campaign to divest Illinois from Israel bonds and companies complicit in the genocide in Palestine. Illinois residents can sign the petition to divest at bit.ly/awcdivest.

Brooklyn, NY – There was a full house in the community room of the Macon Library in the heart of Brooklyn January 17, for a reportback from Venezuela. For their monthly general member’s meeting, the NYC district of Freedom Road Socialist Organization hosted two organizers who visited Venezuela in December 2025.

Ebtesham Ahmed (NYU Students for a Democratic Society and Freedom Road Socialist Organization) and Yasmine Tiana (Palavar Collective) talked about their trip in December as part of a wider delegation. They went over how the Venezuelan people are steadfast in their support of President Maduro and ready to fight U.S. aggression.

This event comes two weeks after the United States government bombed Caracas and kidnapped President Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores. On January 4, U.S. forces brought the president and the first lady to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. Since then, many New Yorkers have protested near the MDC as they question why foreign leaders are being illegally detained in their backyard.

While Ahmed and Tiana were in Venezuela, the U.S. had begun the early stages of the attacks on oil vessels and fishing boats. Ahmed and Tianna witnessed firsthand how the people of Venezuela reacted.

Ahmed said, “The standing with the Venezuelan people is not solely out of sympathy, but out of necessity. The same enemy the people of Venezuela, U.S. imperialism, is the same enemy we face here.”

The full room gave them a resounding applause when they finished speaking and many committed to fighting to free Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores and return them to their home.

Brooklyn, NY – On January 16, activists with Brooklyn Against the War (BAW) participated in a National Day of Action called by the Anti-War Action Network to demand the release of kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores. Maduro and Flores were kidnapped by U.S. Special Forces on January 3 in an attack that killed 32 Cuban security personnel and dozens of civilians.

“The United States has no right to enter a foreign country and kidnap their leader,” protested Michela Martinazzi of BAW. She continued, “What is this war for? Democracy? Absolutely not. It’s for oil!”

By participating in the National Day of Action, BAW handed out over 250 flyers, spoke to passersby about the cost of U.S. aggression in Latin America and around the world, and spread the news about Maduro and Flores being held at a detention center in Brooklyn.

President Nicholas Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores’ next hearing date is scheduled for March 17 in Manhattan.

Santa Ana, CA – On January 3, a crowd of protesters rallied on the intersection of Bristol and McFadden to protest the United States military air strikes on Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro. The protest occurred at the historic intersection where just last year a large protest took place against the inauguration of Donald Trump.

“U.S. hands off Venezuela!” and “Free Maduro now!” chanted the protesters while waving signs that read “Stop Trump’s missile attacks” and “No blood for oil.”

Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) member Rain Mendoza kicked off the protest stating, “ We are out here in the streets today to protest the U.S. military assault on Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro! We the FRSO stand firmly in solidarity with Maduro and the proud revolutionary people of Venezuela.” Mendoza continued, “This administration is not even trying to disguise their intentions for this military act of aggression. They are spelling out their true intentions which are regime change and to rob Venezuela’s oil and valuable minerals.”

The crowd called for solidarity with President Maduro as they chanted, “¡Maduro amigo, El pueblo está contigo!” Cars honked their horns in support and pedestrians passing by joined the chanting in support of the protest.

FRSO member David Pulido said “The Venezuelan people are determined to protect the Bolivarian Revolution. They have endured a U.S. campaign of economic sanctions and sabotage for over 25 years. Now they are enduring open war. Today those people are out in the streets refusing to kneel to the U.S. empire.” Pulido ended by saying, “We who live in the United States have a special responsibility to oppose this criminal war! We live in the belly of the imperialist beast. Our government is the one waging this war!”

“Enough of the attacks on Venezuela, the occupation of Latin America, and the genocidal blockade of Cuba!” cried out Cal Saunders of the Democratic Socialists of America. “This comes on the back of months of attacks on innocent Venezuelan fishermen that the Trump regime has baselessly claimed were drug runners. Trump has even called the drugs weapons of mass destruction. These are the same lies the Bush administration used to lie into war with Iraq.

Protesters marched across the intersection yelling the chants, “From Venezuela to the Middle East, we demand justice! We demand peace!” and “Hands off Venezuela now! Turn those missile strikes around!” before closing out. The protest ended with a call to action to oppose the U.S. war on Venezuela.

New York, NY — On Saturday, January 3, New Yorkers gathered in Times Square for an emergency protest against the United States’ military aggression against Venezuela.

In the early morning of January 3, the U.S. launched a large-scale attack against Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, and the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira. This attack is the culmination of weeks of escalating aggression from the U.S. military in the area. The Trump administration has also announced that it has captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and has stated its intent to subject Maduro to a criminal trial in New York City.

Less than 12 hours after the attacks, the protest in Times Square drew a crowd of close to 1000 people, despite the bitter cold temperatures. Chants of “Hands off Venezuela!” and “Fund people’s needs, not the war machine!” were heard several blocks away.

Speakers at the rally included members of several anti-war and anti-imperialist organizations, including the ANSWER Coalition, the United National Anti-War Coalition, Palestinian Youth Movement, Nodutdol, and December 12th Movement.

The speeches condemned the U.S. attacks on Venezuela, called out the Trump administration’s lies, and pointed out the true motives for the imperialist assault: a greedy grab for Venezuelan natural resources, especially oil. Many speakers also drew parallels between the current imperialist actions in Venezuela and other struggles around the world, such as in Korea, Palestine, Iran and beyond.

After the speeches, the attendees marched a mile northward to Columbus Circle, taking the streets in a powerful demonstration of the people’s might. Cars and trucks along the route sounded their horns in solidarity. A contingent led by Freedom Road Socialist Organization marched in defiance with chants of “No more innocent blood for oil! U.S. off of foreign soil!” and “Viva, viva Venezuela! Lucha, lucha Venezuela!”

“The U.S. government can’t kidnap a president of a sovereign land and expect us to be quiet,” said Michela Martinazzi, a lead organizer with anti-war community group Brooklyn Against War. “Our tax dollars are funding genocide in Palestine and now the destabilization of Venezuela. President Maduro and his wife have been arrested and will be tried in New York City. It’s our duty to show them that we won’t stand for this. We stand with Venezuela!”

The Manhattan rally and march joined dozens of other protests across the U.S., showcasing that New Yorkers, and Americans as a whole, will not stand for another war for empire. The people stand against the lies of U.S. imperialism, and firmly in solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution and the people of Venezuela.

Caracas, Venezuela – From December 9 to 11, members of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) participated in a solidarity delegation to Venezuela, along with members of the Anti-War Action Network, National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, Workers World Party and the Harriet Tubman Center. They were there to attend the International Peoples' Assembly for Sovereignty and Peace hosted by the Simón Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity Among Peoples.

On the final day of the conference, participants had the honor to visit Amilivaca Commune to hear President Maduro speak on the wins of the Venezuelan commune system and the valiant fight for peace against U.S. imperialism.

President Maduro called for “Unity, unity, unity” to achieve peace. The president specifically recognized the FRSO for its solidarity and unity with Venezuela.

The FRSO has long supported the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela and its leaders, former President Chavez and current President Maduro. In the past, this solidarity has manifested in a successful campaign to free Alex Saab, a former Venezuelan diplomat imprisoned in Miami on bogus charges.

More recently, the FRSO has worked with partners in the Anti-War Action Network, Workers World Party, Black Alliance for Peace, International League for People's Struggle and others to hold a week of action to stop the war on Venezuela.

“President Maduro has faced intense pressure from the imperialists to give up on the Bolivarian Process, and just as he remains committed to the process, we remain committed to supporting the president, the Partido Unido Socialista de Venezuela, and the people,” says FRSO delegate Casey Serrano.

Members of the delegation affirmed their admiration for Venezuela and promised to take the president's words to heart and return home to build “Unity, unity, unity” for peace in Venezuela.

La Organización Socialista Camino de la Libertad denuncia el más reciente ataque del presidente de EE. UU., Donald Trump, contra el presidente de Venezuela, Nicholas Maduro. Es otro intento escandaloso de EE. UU. por criminalizar a Venezuela y a sus líderes. La fiscal general de EE. UU., Pam Bondi, declaró que EE. UU. ofrecía 50 millones de dólares por información que llevara al arresto del presidente venezolano. ¡Nosotros decimos que el presidente Maduro vale mucho, mucho más!

Como cualquier otra recompensa que EE. UU. ha puesto sobre el presidente Maduro, ésta no será reclamada. Está basada en acusaciones falsas de mentirosos que mienten – el presidente Trump y la fiscal general Pam Bondi. Como ex conductor de autobús y presidente de un sindicato, confiamos en que el presidente Maduro es moral y digno de confianza, especialmente en comparación con sus acusadores. Maduro tiene mucha fortaleza de carácter y se enfrenta al imperio que intenta derrocarlo.

El Departamento de Estado de Trump acusa al presidente Maduro de corrupción y narcotráfico, vinculando al gobierno de Maduro con las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC). Sin embargo, las FARC firmaron un acuerdo de paz en 2016. Pero, a la Casa Blanca de Trump simplemente no le importa la información actual. Trump quiere fingir que es fuerte, mientras a su alrededor el imperio estadounidense se debilita.

Trump se presenta públicamente como si dictara a otros, mientras que en la realidad envía equipos de negociadores a conseguir acuerdos sobre prisioneros, inmigrantes e incluso niños separados de sus padres por la Patrulla Fronteriza de EE. UU. y ICE. Otros países que negocian con EE. UU. deberían tomar nota de cómo lo hace el presidente Maduro.

Las acusaciones de Trump son una serie de narrativas falsas, informantes pagados y traidores a Venezuela que robaron millones en su camino a Florida. Al parecer, entre más grandes son las mentiras, más aumenta la recompensa, duplicándose de 25 millones de dólares.

El último intento de voltear a un alto funcionario venezolano terminó mal para Trump en su primer mandato. En otra victoria del presidente Maduro, Venezuela logró la liberación de Alex Saab, el negociador responsable de romper las sanciones económicas de EE. UU. El diplomático venezolano Alex Saab mantuvo la frente en alto a pesar de tres años detenido en EE. UU. y ser torturado. Se negó a someterse a las mentiras de la DEA, convirtiendo la única audiencia realizada en un desastre para el Departamento de Estado. Maduro negoció el regreso de Saab, y Saab se desempeña como Ministro de Industrias y Producción Nacional de Venezuela desde el 18 de octubre de 2024.

Increíblemente, los intentos de EE. UU. por desestabilizar y derrocar la Revolución Bolivariana de Venezuela ya llevan 25 años. El presidente Bush apoyó un fallido golpe de Estado contra el presidente Hugo Chávez, lo que solo fortaleció la Revolución Bolivariana y la determinación de sus líderes. Luego, el presidente Obama declaró al gobierno venezolano una amenaza a la seguridad nacional e impuso sanciones económicas, que fueron intensificadas por Trump y después por Biden.

La respuesta del PSUV (el partido gobernante de Venezuela) a las sanciones estadounidenses fue ampliar y profundizar la economía venezolana y orientar la producción a servir a su propia gente en lugar de a Wall Street. La Revolución Bolivariana implementó rápidamente y de manera constante reformas en educación, vivienda, producción de alimentos, atención médica y gasto social. A pesar de las dificultades generadas por las sanciones de EE. UU., esas reformas, y las innovaciones que requieren, siguen avanzando hoy en día.

Durante el último mandato de Trump, hubo mercenarios estadounidenses capturados intentando derrocar violentamente al gobierno electo de Maduro. Más mercenarios estadounidenses fueron capturados el año pasado. Anticipando más incursiones armadas respaldadas por EE. UU., investigadores descubrieron un gran arsenal de explosivos justo esta semana. Las Fuerzas Armadas de Venezuela siguen al frente en la defensa y avance de la Revolución Bolivariana. Las milicias populares continúan entrenándose y preparándose para repeler a invasores extranjeros. EE. UU. sería tonto al atacar. A pesar de sus muchos fracasos y con pocas opciones restantes, el intento de Trump por desestabilizar a Venezuela continúa con esta recompensa de 50 millones de dólares.

The Freedom Road Socialist Organization denounces U.S. President Donald Trump’s most recent attack on Venezuela’s President Nicholas Maduro. It is yet another outrageous U.S. attempt to criminalize Venezuela and its leaders. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi declared the U.S. was offering $50 million for information leading to the arrest of the Venezuelan president. We say President Maduro is worth much, much more!

Like every other U.S. bounty placed on President Maduro, this one will go unclaimed. It is based on false claims coming from lying liars who lie – President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi. As a former bus driver and union president, we trust President Maduro is moral and trustworthy, especially in comparison to his accusers. Maduro has a lot of backbone and stands against the empire that is attempting to unseat him.

The Trump State Department accuses President Maduro of corruption and drug trafficking, linking Maduro’s government to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). However, the FARC signed a peace agreement in 2016. Timely facts just do not matter to Trump’s White House, though. Trump wants to pretend he is strong, while all around him the U.S. empire grows weak.

Trump publicly postures as dictating to others, while in reality he sends teams of negotiators for deals on prisoners, immigrants and even children separated from their parents by U.S. Border Patrol and ICE. Other countries dealing with the U.S. should take note of how President Maduro does it.

Trump’s accusations are an array of phony narratives, paid informants and traitors to Venezuela who stole millions on their way to Florida. Apparently the bigger the lies grow, the higher the bounty goes, doubling from $25 million.

The last attempt to turn a high-ranking Venezuelan official ended badly for Trump in his first term. In another victory for President Maduro, Venezuela won freedom for Alex Saab, the negotiator responsible for breaking U.S. economic sanctions. Venezuela’s diplomat Alex Saab stood proud despite spending three years in U.S. detention and being tortured. He refused to submit to the lies of the Drug Enforcement Agency, turning the only hearing held into a debacle for the U.S. State Department. Maduro negotiated Saab’s return, and Saab has served as Venezuela’s Minister of Industry and National Production since October 18, 2024.

Incredibly, U.S. attempts to disrupt and overthrow Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution go back 25 years now. President Bush backed a failed coup attempt against President Hugo Chavez, which only strengthened the Bolivarian Revolution and its leaders’ resolve. Then President Obama declared the Venezuelan government a national security threat and imposed economic sanctions, which were deepened by Trump and then Biden.

The PSUV (Venezuela’s ruling party) response to U.S. sanctions was to broaden and deepen Venezuela’s economy and orient production to serving their own people instead of Wall Street. The Bolivarian Revolution quickly and steadily made reforms in education, housing, food production, health care and social spending. Despite the difficulties created by U.S. sanctions, those reforms, and the innovations they require, continue advancing today.

During Trump’s last term there were U.S. mercenaries captured attempting to violently overthrow Maduro’s elected government. More U.S. mercenaries were captured in the past year. Expecting more U.S.-backed armed incursions, searchers discovered a large cache of explosives just this week. Venezuela’s Armed Forces remain at the forefront of defending and advancing the Bolivarian Revolution. People’s militias continue to train and prepare to fend off foreign invaders. The U.S. would be foolish to attack. Despite many failures, and without many options left, Trump’s attempted destabilization of Venezuela continues with this $50 million bounty.

We of the FRSO stand in solidarity with Venezuela’s President Maduro, the PSUV, and the Bolivarian Revolution. We wish them well as they advance toward a new, democratic society, attempting to build and renew their economy to serve the working class and its allies.

Mientras los venezolanos celebran la inauguración del Presidente Maduro el 10 de enero, la Organización Socialista Camino de la Libertad saluda la Revolución Bolivariana, el Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV), y sobre todo al Presidente Maduro por otra gran victoria. Superando las sanciones estadounidenses, la interferencia electoral y las mentiras, el pueblo de Venezuela ha triunfado una vez más.

Grandes números de personas llenaron las calles de Caracas para ver la toma de juramento del Presidente Maduro. Miembros del PSUV, sindicalistas, organizadores comunitarios y multitudes de jóvenes salieron a las calles de la ciudad capital, mientras decenas de miles más de trabajadores y campesinos viajaron en autobús desde todo el país. Se están congregando para apoyar la continuación de la Revolución Bolivariana y el tercer mandato de Maduro.

Por su parte, el Presidente Maduro tendrá un mandato de seis años para fortalecer el legado del Comandante Hugo Chavez. Maduro proclamó, “Este nuevo mandato presidencial será un tiempo de paz, prosperidad, igualdad y una nueva democracia.” Añadió, “¡Lo juro por nuestra historia y por mi vida, lo lograremos!”

Maduro sigue construyendo una Venezuela independiente y soberana que beneficia a la gente en lugar de a los bancos estadounidenses y las corporaciones extranjeras de petróleo. La Revolución Bolivariana ha traído enormes cambios, incluyendo la construcción de más de 5 millones de apartamentos y casas pequeñas, un programa de alimentación, CLAP, que suministra comida a más de 80% de los hogares, y sistemas de salud y educación que alcanzan a todos los venezolanos en vez de solo las clases altas. La riqueza del petróleo ahora sirve a la gente.

El presidente electo Trump ya está interfiriendo en los asuntos internos de Venezuela. Trump y sus candidatos para el gabinete están promoviendo al perdedor de las elecciones de Venezuela del verano pasado. Edmundo Gonzalez perdió porque no es popular. Maduro ganó y él tiene las masas organizadas de la gente trabajadora y la lealtad de las fuerzas armadas revolucionarias a su apoyo.

En su último mandato como presidente, la política de Trump hacia Venezuela fue miserable y no logró nada. Trump impuso sanciones económicas más graves desde los EE. UU. para castigar a la clase obrera de Venezuela. El problema para los EE. UU., sin embargo, es que a pesar de algunas dificultades, la economía venezolana continuó creciendo y desarrollando. La agricultura sostenible redujo las importaciones de alimentos y los precios, mientras que nuevas industrias y tecnología moderna están llegando a todo el país.

Trump también respaldó un intento de golpe de Estado fallido en 2019 contra el Presidente Maduro. Luego hubo mercenarios estadounidenses capturados por milicias locales mientras intentaban infiltrar Venezuela. Un número de intentos de asesinato también fueron frustrados. Los ataques a la infraestructura eléctrica y petrolera de Venezuela fueron superados por la gente de las empresas dirigidas por sus trabajadores, quienes están constantemente vigilantes. Otra gran derrota para los EE. UU. fue verse obligado a liberar al diplomático venezolano Alex Saab, quien ahora está trabajando duro para derrotar las sanciones estadounidenses.

As Venezuelans celebrate the inauguration of President Maduro on January 10, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization salutes the Bolivarian Revolution, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), and especially President Maduro on another great victory! Overcoming U.S. sanctions, election interference and lies, the people of Venezuela have triumphed once again.

Huge numbers of people packed the streets of Caracas to watch President Maduro’s swearing-in ceremony. PSUV members, trade unionists, community organizers and youth poured out into the streets from the capital city, while tens of thousands more workers and farmers travelled by coach from across the country. They are rallying to support the continuation of the Bolivarian Revolution and Maduro’s third term.

For his part, President Maduro will have another six-year term to build upon the legacy of Comandante Hugo Chavez. Maduro proclaimed, “This new presidential term will be a time of peace, prosperity, equality and a new democracy.” He added, “I swear on our history and on my life, we shall achieve it!”

Maduro is continuing to build an independent and sovereign Venezuela benefiting the people instead of U.S. banks and foreign oil corporations. The Bolivarian Revolution has brought huge changes, including the building of over 5 million apartments and small houses, a food program, CLAP, that feeds over 80% of homes, and healthcare and education systems that reach every Venezuelan instead of just the upper classes. The oil wealth of Venezuela now serves the people.

President-elect Trump is already interfering in the internal affairs of Venezuela. Trump and his cabinet picks are promoting the loser of Venezuela’s elections this past summer. Edmundo Gonzalez lost because he is not popular. Maduro won and he has the organized masses of working people and the loyalty of the revolutionary armed forces to back him up.

In his last term as president, Trump’s policy towards Venezuela was miserable and achieved nothing. Trump enacted harsher U.S. economic sanctions to punish the working people of Venezuela. The problem for the U.S., however, is that despite some difficulties, the Venezuelan economy continued to grow and develop. Sustainable farming cut food imports and prices, while new industries and modern technology are reaching the whole country.

Trump also backed a failed coup attempt in 2019 against President Maduro. Then there were U.S. mercenaries captured by local militias while attempting to infiltrate Venezuela. A number of assassination plots were foiled as well. Attacks on the electric and oil infrastructure of Venezuela were overcome by the people of the worker-run enterprises, who are constantly on the watch. Another big defeat for the U.S. was being forced to free Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab, who is now working hard to defeat U.S. sanctions.

The Freedom Road Socialist Organization is proud to stand in solidarity with the PSUV and President Maduro. Venezuela is a beacon of hope for independence and progress in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This theft is a pathetic attempt to wrestle some control over the independent nation that recently re-elected the former union bus driver as its president. It is a direct violation of Venezuela’s sovereignty, using U.S. economic sanctions as cover.

Similar to the kidnapping and imprisonment of Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab in 2020, the U.S. government believes its sanctions on Venezuela put it above international law. Saab heroically brokered agreements for food, medicine and technical parts in exchange for oil and gold. His capture was clearly retribution for successfully defying the U.S. empire’s attempts to ruin life for everyday Venezuelans.

The international campaign to Free Alex Saab included a spirited rally and press conference outside Saab’s Miami court appearance, embarrassing the Biden administration. In December 2023, clever Venezuelan statecraft secured the freedom of Alex Saab as he left the clutches of U.S. detention and rejoined his family.

This time, it’s not a human who “thwarted” the sanctions regime of the dying U.S. empire, but a $13 million jet. The U.S. claims it was purchased in the U.S. by Venezuela despite U.S. sanctions.

For over 20 years, the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela has been a national democratic revolution that ushered in a radical transformation. Once a primarily oil export state, by nationalizing its oil to serve the needs of the people, Venezuela drastically reduced extreme poverty and achieved tremendous gains in health, housing and education.

Mutually beneficial international trade agreements have resulted in support for domestic industrial production and agriculture. Once mocked for leaving so much productive land unused, resulting in more than 80% of food imported, Venezuela can now feed itself. With this base, it has been able to buttress its people against the wicked sanctions apparatus started under President Obama, continued under Trump, and now by Biden.

From coup attempts, to lockouts, to sanctions and assassination attempts, the success of the Bolivarian Revolution has been to frustrate and overcome U.S. attacks, while strengthening self-reliance and advancing. The U.S. sanctions are like medieval siege warfare.

The timing of Biden’s pirate act is not lost on those who pay attention to the affairs of the Bolivarian Revolution. This same Monday, September 2 also saw the Venezuelan prosecutor’s office issue a warrant for the arrest of failed U.S.-backed presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez on charges of “crimes associated with terrorism.” The prosecutor’s office issued similar charges to another opposition leader, Marina Corina Machado, who lives in Florida. Machado could not run for office in Venezuela due to prior legal violations. Both Gonzalez and Machado represent the richest of the rich in Venezuela and Miami, wishing to roll back the gains of working class Venezuelans.

This July, Maduro won with 51% and Gonzalez, the handpicked candidate of Wall Street and the Biden administration, lost with 44%. Other candidates split the remainder. Of course, the U.S. government and all of its stenographers in the corporate media have been disputing the results and supporting the outrageous claim by the opposition that Gonzalez won in a landslide.

As in past incidents, the U.S. regime change operation kicked into gear after it was clear the U.S.-backed candidate lost the election. Like election fakers elsewhere, the rich people and their paid lackeys launched protests that turned into violent clashes, attempting to sow chaos and distrust. Like so many other times before, the Venezuelan masses took to the streets in far greater numbers to support President Maduro and once again defend their Bolivarian Revolution.

It is clear: this is an attack on President Nicolas Maduro, the Venezuelan state, and the Bolivarian Revolution. Much like the Biden administration’s support for Israel’s genocide against Palestine, the Democrats supporting the elite opposition of Venezuela is gross and a failure.
