Family of David Ordaz Jr. honors slain Chicano father, demands justice on his 5-year angelversary

<![CDATA[Family demand justice for David Ordaz Jr.

East Los Angeles, CA – On March 14, the family of David Ordaz Jr. held a protest and a vigil to commemorate the five-year anniversary since David was executed by four East LA Sheriff's deputies during a mental health crisis.

Gathered at Belvedere Lake Park, David’s family, Centro CSO, along with allies and other impacted families, rallied, then marched to the East LA Sheriff’s Station, before running to Belvedere Lake to hold a vigil for David with a table for candles and pictures to honor his life and demand justice.

!--more--

On March 14, 2021, the family of David Ordaz, Jr. called 911 to get him help as he was under mental distress and talking about suicide. ELA Sheriff’s deputies – including Remin Pineda, Edwin Navarrete, Jaime Romero and Nathaniel Trujillo – arrived at the scene outside of the Ordaz family home in East Los Angeles.

The ELA sheriff’s station, the home of the Banditos sheriff gang, is known for its aggressive behavior and long history of killing Chicano men. Although they were aware of Ordaz Jr.’s mental state, the deputies gunned him down as his family watched in shock. While the department says that Ordaz Jr. charged at the deputies with a knife, footage recorded by a neighbor shows that he did not pose a threat.

Jazmine Moreno, mother of David Ordaz’s three children, stated, “When the sheriffs responded to the call they immediately drew their guns,” said Moreno, recalling what happened the day David was killed. “With no regard for his life or any of the rest of our family who are standing next to him, these cowardly deputies began shooting rubber bullets and within a second fired live rounds.”

In 2022, former Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon charged Pineda with two felonies: assault with a firearm and assault under color of authority. However, Pineda walked free without serving any prison time for Ordaz’s murder. It turned out Mark Arnold, a biased judge who was a former sheriff deputy himself, with a son currently in law enforcement, merely sentenced Pineda to two years’ probation. The judge claimed Pineda “didn’t go out with the intent to kill.” The facts are clear: David was shot already bleeding and lying on the ground. Pineda walked up and fired the final fatal bullet at close range. That was an execution. T

he Ordaz family presented demands throughout the event that included, “DA Hochman or Attorney General Rob Bonta: Reopen the investigation into Deputy Nathaniel Trujillo and Jamie Romero,” and “California Attorney General Rob Bonta: Conduct an investigation into the trial of Remin Pineda for bias. Judge Mark S. Arnold is a former LASD deputy and his son is currently with the Department.”

Stephanie Luna, aunt of 21-year-old Anthony Daniel Vargas who was killed by the East LA Sheriffs in 2018, shared words and condolences on behalf of the Check the Sheriff’s coalition. “We are not only gathered here in the memory of David Ordaz but for the pursuit of justice that his life demanded,” Luna said. Citing Judge Mark Arnold’s background, she continued, “Justice cannot exist when there is a conflict of interest, justice cannot exist where bias is ignored.”

At the kick-off rally, Luis Sifuentes of Centro CSO and Carlos Montes of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization spoke about how David’s killing is an example of the national oppression that Chicanos experience within the Southwest.

Ali Rubinfeld with the Loyola Anti-Racism Center and the Check the Sheriff’s coalition, said, “It is wrong that when the police kill, the criminal legal system seeks out reason to justify their behavior and allows them to act with impunity.” Rubinfield demanded, “We need impartial and independent review of police violence and misconduct that can yield real accountability and justice for impacted families.”

After the speeches, the crowd marched to the East LA Sheriff station chanting, “Jail killer cops,” “Justice for David Ordaz Jr!” “Sin justicia no hay paz!” In anticipation for the crowd, the station set up yellow police lines taped across the perimeter and three squad cars parked with six deputies. Confrontation ensued between the crowd and cops reminding them that justice is still wanting.

The crowd eventually regrouped at the rally point to start the vigil and hear from the families of Jeremy Flores (killed by LAPD in 2025) and David Sullivan (killed by Buena Park PD in 2019), who spoke in solidarity with the Ordaz family.

Five years since that tragic day, the family of David Ordaz Jr have not only fought for justice in his case but also became leading fighters in the struggle against LASD and LAPD terror. His family has led multiple protests outside of the ELA Sheriff’s station, attended with Centro CSO the Second National Conference of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, and helped organize the victory of Measure A to bring greater accountability to LASD.

#EastLosAngelesCA #LosAngelesCA #CA #InJusticeSystem #KillerCops #CentroCSO

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

<![CDATA[Atlanta protest demands justice for Linton Blackwell.

Atlanta, GA - On February 28, community members stood alongside the family of Linton Blackwell to demand accountability from the Atlanta Police Department - that killer cop Gerald Walker be fired and jailed.

On October 11, near a bar in Buckhead, 44-year-old Linton Blackwell was murdered by APD officer Gerald Walker. Linton Blackwell was facing away when he was shot 17 times in the back by off-duty cop Gerald Walker. Walker was reportedly working as security for a bar nearby. Since then, the officer has continued to be on the force and has faced no disciplinary action.

!--more--

Linton Blackwell was a musical artist and the father of two teenage girls. He was also the cousin of Jimmy Hill, a long-time fighter against police violence in the community. Jimmy Hill’s son, Jimmy Atchison, was chased down and murdered by APD officer Sung Kim in 2019. Hill is still demanding justice for his son.

At the protest in front of the APD headquarters, members of the family shared their grief and anger at the lack of accountability. Don Evans, Linton Blackwell’s brother, spoke to the crowd saying “Linton was not only my brother, he was my friend. I’m going to stand for him. I'm going to keep on fighting, making noise, whatever it takes for me to get my peace. When this man \[Gerald Walker\] is off the streets, I’ll be at peace.” Evans ended the speech leading the crowd in a chant “No justice, no peace!”

The family of Deacon Johnny Hollman, a 62-year-old man killed by APD officer Kiran Kimborough in 2023, was also there to support the family of Linton Blackwell. Arnitra Hollman, Deacon Hollman’s daughter, addressed the crowd and gave her condolences to the family of Linton Blackwell. She added, “We cannot give up this fight for justice. We have to continue to knock on those doors, get into these rooms, and lift up our loved ones’ names until we get justice. You don’t have to do exactly what I've done, but you have to do something.

<![CDATA[Killer cop Isaac Ibarra.

Santa Ana, CA - On Wednesday February 18, Erika Armenta and other members of Community Service Organization Orange County (CSO OC) were holding a press conference outside Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) when they were approached by Officer Isaac Ibarra. Ibarra was one of the officers who shot unarmed 31-year-old Noe Rodriguez on December 1, 2024. Erika Armenta was Noe’s wife. CSO OC members followed Ibarra to confront him for his crimes.

!--more--

David Pulido said, “This is Isaac Ibarra! He killed a father, a 31-year-old father on December 1, 2024! He shot him 11 times! He and his partner, Luis Casillas, who shot him 18 times! And he doesn’t like that we’re filming him and holding him accountable! You fucking killer! How dare you!”

Isaac Ibarra turned suddenly and lunged towards activists. When they didn’t respond, he changed his tune, saying “Don’t walk behind me! I’m taking that as a threat” and “don’t grab me” even though activists were not touching him and captured the whole incident on video.

CSO OC is demanding that the officers responsible for Noe's death be fired, including Ibarra. They were at the department due to information gathered from a Public Records Act request. Through this request, CSO revealed that Isaac Ibarra and Luis Casillas continue working and have simply been moved to other divisions. Casillas now works in the “Crimes Against Persons Division” and Ibarra works in the “North Area Command Division.”

When Ibarra passed them again, Erika Armenta clutched her daughters closely and said, “May God forgive you: these are the daughters that you made orphans!” and “Look at them closely! You left them without a father! Look at them!”

Matthew Compton said, “You’re a fucking killer dude! You should answer for your damn crimes!”

Isaac Ibarra called the police on activists and lied, claiming that activists pushed him. This lie is contradicted by video footage. In fact, Ibarra pushed activists three times. By the time several patrol cars arrived, Ibarra made one last attempt to provoke a fight, approaching David Pulido within inches of his face and saying that “I’m not at work right now” as an apparent threat.

After the incident Erika Armenta spoke one last time in front of the police station, stating, “I am a member of CSO and we are committed to the fight for police my husband left out accountability.”

Armenta said, “One of the officers who murdered is in the front entrance and passed by me and my two daughters. I believe it was on purpose. Because this department has many exits, not only this front entrance. And he knows us now. We have gone to the city council to speak and put forward our demands for justice for my husband. We are demanding an independent investigation! All they have done is moved the officers to other parts of the department. That is not justice!”

Armenta continued, saying, “This fight does not end here! Recently Santa Ana police killed another man. In a video we saw him with his hands up, and the police have not released the body camera footage. But when the police arrest people with weapons or things like that, the next day they release the footage, at their convenience.”

Armenta referred to the January 28 police killing of 18-year-old Victor Lopez, who was killed in front of his fiancé and one-year-old child in the parking lot of his apartment. Lopez was surrendering to police when he was killed. His family demands the full body camera footage from the incident.

CSO OC continues to demand that Officers Luis Casillas and Isaac Ibarra be fired from Santa Ana PD and that the incident be independently investigated by Santa Ana’s Police Oversight Commission.

#SantaAnaCA #CA #InJusticeSystem #KillerCops #CSOOC

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

!--more--

#SantaAnaCA #CA #InJusticeSystem #PoliceCrimes #KillerCops #CSOOC

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

Together, they marched to LAPD’s doors to present the Hollenbeck Division with a petition with over 200 signatures, highlighting the community’s desire for police accountability. Seeing the large group of working-class Chicanos approach the public station, officers locked the front door in fear. Flores’s family pounded on the door as LAPD cops scrambled to hide in the empty lobby. Protesters chanted “Jail killer cops!” and “La policia, la migra, la misma porqueria” in the front of the station. The spirited protesters also waved hand painted banners that read “Killer cops inside” and “Justice for Jeremy Flores.”

“It started a bit bumpy but we got our message across, and that's what matters, bringing justice to my brother's name and we will not stop till we reach what's wanted and needed!” said Sergio Flores, Jeremy’s older brother.

Gabriel Quiroz Jr, co-chair of Centro CSO’s Police Accountability Committee, spoke in support of the family, saying, “One year into Trump's recent term and we are continuing the fight against police crimes, Trump has attacked our Raza but we have taken the fight to him as well! If it’s Mmgra or LAPD it doesn’t matter, we will stand up and fight back!”

Derek Mejia, also co-chair of Centro CSO’s Police Accountability Committee, said, “I think it's shameful that officers at Hollenbeck Station quickly responded by locking the doors to the building. We arrived there peacefully to deliver the petition to demand transparency towards the murder of Jeremy Flores. LAPD and the Board of Police Commissioners have shown time and time again that they are not interested in doing right by the communities they swore to ‘protect.’ Instead, they duck accountability whenever and wherever they can, such as cancelling a Board of Police Commissioners meeting or closing the door to a public space.
Family of Albert Arzola demands Anaheim Police Department be held accountable

<![CDATA[Protest demands justice for Albert Arzola in Anaheim, California.

Anaheim, CA - The front rows of Anaheim City Council chamber were filled with Albert Arzola’s family on Tuesday, January 13. They held signs demanding, “Justice for Albert Arzola,” who was only 19 years old when he was ambushed by two Anaheim PD officers, shot in the back and killed on December 6, 2025.

!--more--

Christine Lopez Ediss said, “Albert is my nephew and was loved by so many. He graduated from Katella High School and was working in the city he loved: Anaheim. He had a bright future ahead. That was stolen from Albert, his family, and the Anaheim community. We will not remain silent about the senseless act by a gang unit officer!"

Sergio Pelayo, Albert Arzola’s cousin, said “I’m here to advocate for the unedited version of what happened that day on December 6. It’s been over a month now. We only have a 30 second clip from what happened. Just release the autopsy as people in the family would like to know where and how Albert died. We would also like to know the name of the officer. I mean, no need to hide!”

Albert’s family shouted, “You guys are hiding things!”

Grace Arzola, another of Albert Arzola’s aunts, said this about Public Information Officer Matt Sutter: “He said that the police acted in the public’s best interest. That’s something that the public has to determine! Not the Public Information Officer. They can only do this when you guys release the full, unedited video. Let them decide if the police acted in their best interest!”

Vern Nelson, Anaheim resident and writer of the Orange Juice Blog, also spoke on the police killing. Nelson stated that when gang unit officers kill someone, “for weeks or months they’ll go around harassing the family. That’s familiar to me because my wife Donna had a son who was killed in 2012 - Joel Acevedo. The same exact thing happened to her! They harass the family. They shine lights into their place every day to intimidate them, so they don’t speak out.” Joel Acevedo was killed by Anaheim PD officer Kelly Phillips on July 22, 2012. That year Anaheim PD killed seven Chicanos, including Manuel Diaz the night before Joel was killed.

Grace Arzola also described similar harassment, saying “My mom is 77 years old. The police stopped my brother for a ‘broken taillight’. We asked a family friend to come and fix the taillight. Five Anaheim PD officers pulled up on a family friend that was helping my elderly mom fix a broken taillight and accused him of stealing the car! Five. Officers. This is unacceptable and it needs to stop.”

The family was joined by three members of Community Service Organization, Orange County (CSO OC), including Erika Armenta, whose husband Noe Rodriguez was killed by Santa Ana PD on December 1, 2024.

CSO OC member Carina Munoz said that “Anaheim PD has been ranked ninth out of the 60 largest U.S. cities on the rate of officer-involved deaths during arrests, and yet nothing has been done. Because of the lack of action, these Anaheim PD officers are allowed to make women widows, parents lose their children before themselves, which is not the natural order of things, siblings lose each other way before their time, and best friends lose their only shoulder to lay on. I am ashamed of Anaheim for once again letting a young person die, and for making it seem like Albert deserved it!”

Graze Arzola stated, “We are not going away!
<![CDATA[Shanta Scott, mother of Jace Lee Scott, holds a sign demanding the firing of corrupt NOPD Officer Victor Gant.

New Orleans, LA – On Sunday evening, January 11, members of the New Orleans Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression held a demonstration in front of the Saint Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter to demand justice for Jace Lee Scott who was murdered by the son of NOPD officer Victor Gant in 2019.

The protest targeted the inauguration of New Orleans Mayor-elect Helena Moreno. The event was well secured with barriers. Victor Gant now serves on the mayor’s security team, even though he aided in his son Andrew Gant’s murder case.

!--more--

Phone records show that after Andrew Gant murdered Jace Scott, he called his father for help. Victor Gant drove to his son instead of calling 911, and was present during his son’s interrogation – a clear conflict of interest. Andrew Gant got off on a negligent homicide charge and never saw a day in jail. The judge overseeing his case, Judge Nandi Campbell, also allowed him to be late on his restitution 14 times and never put him in jail.

“Helena Moreno, do what’s right! Stand with the families, help us fight!” chanted the crowd. In front of numerous NOPD officers and heavily armed National Guard, they chanted “Victor Gant is a crooked cop, we want justice, lock him up!” Some of the officers laughed and bobbed along with the rhythm of the chant.

“All of you officers who are laughing, I want you to think about what it would be like if your family, if your son or your daughter was shot in cold blood and their killer got to walk the streets not seeing a single day in jail,” said Toni Mar, directly confronting NOPD officers over the loudspeaker. “I bet you wouldn’t have a fucking smirk on your face like you do right now!”

People on the street walking by stopped to listen to Sister Shanta Scott, the mother of Jace and founder of the Jace Lee Scott Foundation. “When cops lie, they steal. And when they steal, they murder,” she said. “My son was stolen from me. Murdered in cold blood. And the police covered it up.”

Sister Shanta Scott made her demands known. Addressing Mayor Moreno, she called for the immediate firing of all police officers involved in the cover-up of her case, federal charges against Victor Gant and his son Andrew Gant, a civil lawsuit against the city of New Orleans for protecting the officers involved, and community control of the police.

“No one should have to go through what I have to seek justice for their child,” Shanta Scott said. “This is not just about my son. This is about accountability, transparency and ensuring that no one is above the law.
Statement on the Cold-Blooded Murder of Renee Nicole Good by ICE in Minneapolis

<![CDATA[

We condemn the brutal killing of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old community observer gunned down by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. We all saw video evidence that shows ICE officers surrounding her vehicle and opening fire. It was an execution in broad daylight.

We understand this killing in the context of the Trump administration’s escalating campaign of terror against immigrants. It has been months of mass deportations, family separations, detention camps, and open violence. Trump has deployed ICE to enforce a racist anti-immigrant agenda targeting Chicanos, Mexicanos, Central Americans, Somalis, and others. People standing in solidarity with immigrants, like Renee Nicole Good, acting as a community observer, are apparently targets too. The death toll is mounting. And the very next day, Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras were shot and hospitalized by ICE in Portland.

!--more--

At the heart of this brutality is national oppression at the U.S. Mexico border and beyond that treats human beings as disposable and criminalizes their very existence. Degrading these communities and keeping them in the shadows is good for the capitalists.

In the wake of Renee’s murder Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem blamed the victim and labeling her a “domestic terrorist” who “weaponized her vehicle.” These are absurd things to say, moreover they are lies contradicted by every frame of available footage. They claimed ICE agents were “fearing for their lives.” We've heard that one before. Trump also had the audacity to defend the officer who pulled the trigger, showcasing the administration’s contempt for truth and human life. On the very same day as Renee’s killing, ICE agents stormed the grounds of a nearby high school at dismissal time, throwing people to the ground in front of screaming students. That night, thousands flooded the corner where Renee was killed to demand an end to ICE’s terror spree.

The people have had enough. In the days that have followed, there have been hundreds of protests and demonstrations across the country. All conscious people, workers, students, faith communities, unions, and grassroots organizations should join the call to action, stand up and fight.

Justice for Renee Nicole Good!

ICE out of our cities!

Legalization for all!

#FRSO #Statement #ImmigrantRights #ICE #InJusticeSystem #KillerCops #KillerICE #ReneeGood #Feature

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

The people have had enough. In the days that have followed, there have been hundreds of protests and demonstrations across the country. All conscious people, workers, students, faith communities, unions, and grassroots organizations should join the call to action, stand up and fight.

Justice for Renee Nicole Good!

ICE out of our cities!

Legalization for all!

<![CDATA[Atlanta protest demand justice for Renee Good.

Atlanta, GA - On the afternoon of January 8, 70 protesters gathered at the ICE office in Atlanta to demand justice for Renee Nicole Good, who was killed by ICE goon Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis the day before.

!--more--

The crowd gathered at short notice, outraged at the murder of Renee Good. Community members, union workers, students and lawyers all came out to demand Jonathan Ross be thrown in jail. They chanted “APD, KKK, ICE they’re all the same!” and “Indict, convict, send those murders to hell, the whole damn system is guilty as well!”

The protest wrapped around the corner of the ICE office, where over 40 people are being held at any given time. Part of the ICE office is used to hold people waiting to be moved to a larger detention center. It is the same office where Alma Bowman, a Filipina American immigrant who has lived in the U.S. for over 50 years, was detained after showing up for her routine immigration check-in.

Alex Carson, a UPS Teamster with Local 728 and a member of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, highlighted the hypocrisy of the situation in his speech. “You know what would happen if I hit someone with a UPS truck? I would lose my job. What happens when an ICE officer shoots someone in broad daylight? They get to keep their job. They get coddled and raised up as a hero by the white supremacists that run this country.”

Brandon Pink spoke on behalf of the Atlanta Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, saying, “In Atlanta we know what violence looks like. It doesn’t look like our immigrant brothers and sisters. It looks like APD officers shooting and killing an unarmed Black man who was fleeing, like Jimmy Atchison in 2019, killed by officer Sung Kim. Those are the real criminals. The real criminals are officer Kiran Kimbrough, who tased to death 62-year old Deacon Holloman in 2023.”

Organizers ended the rally vowing to keep fighting against ICE raids and for Jonathan Ross to be jailed.

#AtlantaGA #GA #ImmigrantRights #KillerCops #KillerICE #InJusticeSystem #ReneeGood

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

Charleston, SC protest against the ICE killing of Renee Good

<![CDATA[Charleston protest demand justice for Renee Good.

Charleston, SC – Over 250 people gathered at Marion Square in Charleston, South Carolina, on January 8 for an emergency protest against the deadly shooting of Renee Good by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis the day before.

!--more--

Members of the local chapter of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, the Lowcountry Action Committee, the Charleston Community Service Organization, the College of Charleston Students for a Democratic Society, Charleston Democratic Socialists of America, 50501 SC, and others came together in what they referred to as a “broad, united front against killer ICE agents.”

Representatives presented clear and direct demands like “Justice for Renee Good,” “Jail Jonathan Ross,” “ICE out of our communities” and “End 287(g).”

“Chinga la migra!” was the rallying cry of the Charleston Community Service Organization, which opened the emergency protest with a heartfelt speech by leading member Dulce Lopez. “I am somebody,” she called out to the crowd. “I deserve justice. Right here. Right now.”

Organizers attempted to connect the dots between the tragedy in Minneapolis and the recent U.S. aggression against Venezuela. “We just saw some of you four days ago at the No War Against Venezuela protest,” remarked Erica Veal of the Lowcountry Action Committee and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization. “And we will continue to show up and show out every time the U.S. commits war crimes abroad and domestic terrorism at home.”

The city of Charleston passed a law referred to as the “First Amendment Demonstration Ordinance,” which requires a police permit for gatherings of 25 or more. Organizers say that when permits are submitted, the Charleston Police Department employs strategies to delay their processing by requesting repeated location and time changes. The one caveat to the law, which many call an infringement on First Amendment rights, is the “48 hour clause,” which allows community members to assemble without a police permit within two days of breaking news. Organizers took advantage of this clause over the past week to mobilize multiple rallies.

“We are exhausted from planning back-to-back actions, but it is important for us to be out here to make our voices heard,” said Nate Hubler of the Lowcountry Action Committee Solidarity Network and the Elbit Out of SC coalition. “Time is of the essence. We don’t have the virtue of waiting to protest because we are contending with a repressive law that police have repeatedly used to disperse lawful assemblies and brutalize protesters.”

As the sun set over the crowd, organizers emphasized the importance of joining justice-centered and action-oriented organizations. Matt Colburn, also of the Lowcountry Action Committee and Freedom Road said, "we are not outnumbered. We are out organized. This administration’s top officials are living on military bases. ICE covers their faces despite being one of the most well-paid and well-funded federal agencies. Why? Because they're afraid of the people."

The first week of 2026 has attendees convinced it will be a year of heightened activity and protest. “There will continue to be mass mobilizing events that force us out into the streets,” Veal said in her closing remarks. “What’s most important is the organizing that happens in between.”

#CharlestonSC #SC #ImmigrantRights #InJusticeSystem #ICE #ReneeGood #KillerCops #KillerICE

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

The crowd was repeatedly cheered by passersby honking their horns as they drove the circle, and people walking by raising their fists in solidarity.

Renee Good was a legal observer of ICE’s latest batch of raids. When ICE saw her vehicle in their way, they surrounded it, shouting contradictory orders at Good both to drive away and leave the vehicle. The speakers were totally united in their demand that the killer ICE agent Jonathan Ross face full legal repercussions for the murder he committed.

The crowd was extremely diverse, representing the near universal outrage at the blatant criminality of ICE and the DHS. Many people used signs they’d originally brought to No Kings protests last year, and they were shoulder to shoulder with attendees from the ACLU and Food Not Bombs, chanting “One solution, revolution” alongside the protest organizers.

At multiple points the Monument Circle sound system began its nightly broadcast of red, white and blue propaganda, including a full rendition of America the Beautiful blared at full volume, but the people’s anger and resolve was undimmed.

Speakers connected the brutality and lawlessness of ICE at home directly to that American imperialism has imposed overseas in places like Venezuela and Palestine. At the mention of Palestine, a “Free, free Palestine” chant started at the back of the crowd spontaneously and was soon being taken up by the entire group, including the speaker who began to help lead it.

After the speeches and chanting, the crowd took to the streets, marching and raising a righteous din as bystanders watched in open admiration from storefronts and shop windows. The march concluded at the State Capitol building with speakers reiterating their calls to get organized and fight back against the Trump regime’s racist campaign of terror.

#IndianapolisIN #IN #ImmigrantRights #ReneeGood #ICE #InJusticeSystem #KillerCops #KillerICE

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>

Protesters carried signs demanding justice for Good, and slogans such as “Killer ICE off our streets.”

!--more--

“We have mobilized today because this moment cannot go unanswered, we have to demand justice for Renee Nicole Good and all people terrorized by ICE,” said Mae Guidry, a Loyola University New Orleans student and member of Students for a Democratic Society. “If we fail to meet the moment, if we were to allow Renee's murder to get lost in the headlines, they have successfully set their precedent. If we don't get in the streets now, they will do it again and again and again.”

“White supremacists are trying to take us back in time.
Dallas ‘ICE out now!’ protest

<![CDATA[Dallas protest against the ICE murder of Renee Good.

Dallas, TX - Over 1000 community members gathered Thursday evening, January 8 at Dallas City Hall to protest the murder of Renee Nicole Good by ICE in Minneapolis and to demand ICE out of Dallas.

Attendees marched around downtown Dallas calling for the Dallas Police Department to stop working with ICE. The protest was called by the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression-Dallas (NAARPR-Dallas).

!--more--

Andy Ayala said, “From its inception, our organization has had one fundamental and steadfast goal from which all others stem - to resist the brutalities of state repression. What happened yesterday in Minneapolis represents an unprecedented level of violence perpetrated by ICE on our communities.”

Ayala continued, “So many of us here today do, in our daily lives, exactly what Renee did: stand up to racist and brutal injustice. For this, ICE viscously murdered her. For this, Renee Nicole Good was taken from her community. She was taken from her friends. She was taken from her wife and she was taken from her son.”

During the speeches, community members held up signs reading “No one is illegal on stolen land” and “Justice for Renee Nicole Good.”

William Capper, a speaker on behalf of the DFW Anti-War Committee, said, “The bullets used to take Renee's life link ICE to the web of military contractors that pawn their supplies to ICE and police forces, cycling the war machine's violence abroad back onto our streets. Our struggle is one.”

Capper continued, “There is a world in which her murder by ICE has a chilling effect on us. We become afraid to step out of line, to do our part to fight repression. But we have to resist the fear that horror invites on us. Renee was an organizer. We must answer her loss by organizing ourselves. Show ICE that when they take down one organizer, a thousand fill in their place. The ONLY solution is to get organized.”

During the protest, community members chanted, “Say it loud, say it clear, immigrants are welcome here,” “No more deportations, we demand legalization” and “El pueblo unido jamás será vencido” \[the people united will never be defeated\].

Speaking for the Freedom Road Socialist Organization DFW District, Kai Leslie said, “Renee Nicole Good's murder was an unacceptable crime, but it wasn’t the first time ICE has executed an innocent person. 25 people that we know of in the last year have been murdered by ICE, and countless lives have been ruined. We know the actions of ICE are deplorable. But we also know people are in the streets fighting back! Across the U.S., people are interfering with ICE ghouls in any way they can, spreading the word of ICE’s presence, slowing down their raids, blocking their vehicles, and Freedom Road Socialist Organization is proud to stand with the people rising up against ICE.”

Andy Ayala concluded, “We are not scared. We will not back down. You have started something here, and we will continue to act in solidarity with Renee Nicole Good. We will carry her in our minds, in our hearts, and in our fiery spirits in all the work we do to bring an end to the very injustices Renee Nicole Good fought against.”

#DallasTX #TX #ImmigrantRights #DAWC #InJusticeSystem #KillerCops #KillerICE #ReneeGood #NAARPR

div id="sharingbuttons.io"/div]]>
