Denver, CO – On the evening of March 9, the Colorado Palestine Coalition (CPC) kicked off an event focused on highlighting Palestinian women for International Women’s Day. The action drew over 250 attendees who gathered to listen to a powerful lineup comprised entirely of Palestinian speakers. After an hour and a half, the event concluded with an emotional speech from longtime Palestinian organizer Reema Wahdan, who brought every Palestinian woman in the audience on stage.

Speakers touched on a wide range of topics, including current statistics about the genocide being carried out by Israel, personal stories, reproductive health struggles in Gaza, and the increased struggles for Palestinian women with disabilities. The event brought the international character of the holiday to the forefront of the crowd’s minds.

Speaker Meera Alul perfectly encapsulated the character of the event, saying, “For the woman who set herself on fire in December, months before Aaron Bushnell engaged in the same extreme protest. Only she remains nameless and forgotten – we don't even know if she’s alive today. For Bisan when she has to begin every video by assuring us that she is still alive. For Lama who at nine years old wears her press vest as a journalist covering Israel’s genocide. We are standing here today for all women in Palestine and for all the women and girls affected by this genocide here and abroad.”

From Denver to Palestine, it is clear that the masses of people stand with Palestinian women in their struggle against genocide and occupation. Five months into the escalation of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, energetic organizers with the CPC have made it clear that they will keep fighting until there is a free Palestine.

Cherry Creek, CO – As Israel escalates its genocidal campaign against Palestinians with events such as the Flour Massacre and other mass killings, the Colorado Palestine Coalition (CPC) responded March 2 with their largest event in months. With over 2000 attendees marching through Cherry Creek, the aspirations of the people were crystal clear – they demand a free Palestine.

Speakers from the CPC and others spoke of the brave sacrifice of Aaron Bushnell, the “Vote Uncommitted” campaign, and the horrific situation in Gaza, where Israel has funneled 1.5 million people into Rafah and carried out repeated mass killings, the latest of which being the Flour Massacre which left over 100 dead.

The CPC put a significant emphasis on what can be done at home, with speakers for the coalition touching upon the need to participate in the Vote Uncommitted campaign. Meera Alul, a Palestinian woman and member of the CPC stated, “We are angry enough that we don't care if it's democrats or republicans, when all of them are Zionist puppets!”

With the 2024 primaries already underway and the presidential election soon approaching, the people are making it clear that their votes must be earned.

As calls for an end to U.S. aid to Israel and a ceasefire grow in volume, Torryn Awry with the Denver Anti-War Action (DAWA) reminded the crowd that it is essential to remember the permanent effects of the horror Israel has imposed upon Gaza., stating, “These numbers do not represent the more than 2 million Palestinians displaced from their homes, lives forever altered for whom no character or degree of justice can ever be sufficient. These numbers can never truly represent what living this reality, surviving this cataclysm does to a person or a people.”

This point resonated with the crowd. They demand a free Palestine so that the generations of trauma imposed upon the Palestinian people by Israel can finally be put to an end. With one of the largest actions in Colorado since October 7, Colorado appears to be prepared to keep their energy up for as long as it takes to achieve their demands.

Denver, CO – On Sunday, December 31, over 750 people marched in Denver to demand an end to U.S. aid to Israel and an end to Israel’s genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people.

The march was organized by the Colorado Palestine Coalition and came three months after October 7, when the Palestinian resistance launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood aimed at liberating all Palestinian political prisoners, among other objectives. Since then, the Israeli government has responded by displacing the majority of Palestinians in Gaza and murdering over 20,000 Palestinians, many of them children.

The march ushered in a new year with resistance to the status quo, with a continued organized effort to support Palestine and their struggle for freedom.

Shaine Carroll-Frey, a member of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, states, “Working-class people in this country everything to gain by standing in complete, unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people,” and, “I urge everybody, if you're a worker, if you're not a worker, if you're a student, if you're a person of conscience, to get organized, because guess what? Our enemies are organized, and they have billions and billions of dollars. All we have is our numbers and our organization.”

Khalid Hamu, a member of Students for a Democratic Society at the University of Colorado, said, “Our government buys up their surveillance technology. Our police get trained by the occupation forces, and our journalists get viruses slipped onto their devices. Our tuition travels across the world, funds a genocide, and then travels back to aid in our own oppression. We must cut ties with Israel for its crimes against humanity.” SDS is currently fighting a campaign to get the University of Colorado and the Metropolitan State University of Denver to completely divest and cut all ties with the Zionist entity.

The march served to kickstart a National week of Action called by the US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN), the National Alliance Against Racists and Political Repression (NAARPR), and Students for a Democratic Society (SDS).
