Minneapolis, MN – The $130,000 raised has dealt a real blow to the mortgage, so we are that much closer to paying off the Lucy Parsons Center building. Unlike the empty promises of the Trump administration, we don’t write checks that can’t be cashed. When we say something, we mean it, and we back it up with action. We said we were going to raise $100,000, so we did that and then some!

The Freedom Road Socialist Organization members and supporters who donated come from all walks of life. From veteran comrades to those just stepping into the struggle, from delivery drivers to schoolteachers, retirees to revolutionaries; some have more funds than others, but all of them contributed something truly significant.

This fundraiser and its success are political. We are securing a fortress for the fights ahead, against deportations, imperialist wars, police violence, and other sites of struggle and signs of decay in this dying system.

“How we use this building locally is about movement-building, day in, day out. It’s where organizers learn from each other and train, where we sum up our practice and sharpen our knowledge,” said Jess Sundin, Twin Cities District Organizer of FRSO, and tough-as-nails building manager.

Sydney Loving of FRSO’s Central Committee drove the point home: “Raising $130,000 is proof we’re building something real that can withstand the battles ahead and keep growing our reach and our capacity. Our enemies are powerful, but so are we; and in the scheme of things, their power is shrinking and ours is growing. They’re about telling lies and keeping people down. We’re about telling the truth and lifting the people up. The success of this fundraising campaign shows that people believe in what we’re building, as they should!”

The revolution and the communist party needed to make it happen are not dreams in a far-off future, but something we are laying down bricks for right now.

Minneapolis, MN – At the April 24 Freedom Road Socialist Organization fundraiser, something remarkable happened. Between the collections in-hand and pledged, the FRSO fundraiser is set to surpass $100,000!

We began the day with $65,000, and, in one night, comrades pledged $51,500, bringing us to pledges totaling $116,500 at this point.

Major fundraising events, such as one in Chicago this weekend, are planned and will surely take us even further. The fund drive has almost one more month left to go until the May 15 deadline.

The money will go to paying off a substantial section of the mortgage on Freedom Road Socialist Organization's new building and office.

Working people pledged real chunks out of their savings. A few pledged monies from their inheritances and trusts. Others got their loved ones, including parents and spouses, to donate too. UPS workers, teachers, office workers, retirees and students made contributions that they know will help build a revolutionary movement in this country. As the speakers Frank Chapman and Carlos Montes urged the crowd, comrades “donated until it felt good.” Like comrades do with every challenge they face, they exceeded all expectations.

“I’m excited to announce that we are set to surpass our goal of $100,000, and that we’re not done yet – the end is not yet in sight. The political unity and profound work of our organization show that when you fight alongside the masses, anything is possible. The fights we’re building against Trump's attacks only make our comrades and supporters want to do more and donate more, not less. We will do whatever it takes to change society so that it serves the needs of the many, instead of the greed of the few,” said Syd Loving of the Central Committee of the FRSO.

Now more than ever, a revolutionary movement is needed to take Wall Street's boot off the people’s necks. The success of this drive will not only secure the gains of the last period, but will enable the FRSO to surge ahead, set new goals, and leap into a new stage of building a new communist party. The future is bright.

As part of the 2025 $100k Fund Drive, Freedom Road Socialist Organization will be holding an online fundraising event on Thursday, April 24 at 7pm Central time (5pm Pacific, 6pm Mountain, and 8pm Eastern). The goal of the drive is to pay off the mortgage on the FRSO headquarters, securing it as an asset in building the struggle in these turbulent political times.

“We are fighting back all over the country, and we’re also building the power to win. Strong organization and strong infrastructure are critical. I’m inspired by how comrades are stepping up everywhere! Minneapolis, MN – “We set big goals and surpass them, whether that is buying a building, or expanding rapidly in new cities all across the country,” said Sydney Loving of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization’s Central Committee. “To make the next qualitative leap in our work and shore up our hard-won achievements, we need to raise $100,000 during this fund drive. We plan to put these funds towards paying off our new building.”

Members of FRSO districts are sitting down and going through the people they know who can donate and making plans to reach out. Denver FRSO has set the goal of raising $10,000 for the drive. In ambition alone, New Orleans would not be outdone – they set an even higher goal of $15,000.

The Minneapolis district has already taken off running. After hosting just one event, they've raised $2700 already, specifically for the upkeep of the FRSO building, the Lucy Parsons Center.

FRSO is embroiled in several heated battles against Trump's racist, reactionary agenda. More people are writing to us every day, motivated to change this world in which we have so little to lose.

“There is no better time to be in the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, and there is no better cause to donate to. We will succeed at this drive, we will succeed at building a party, and we will do our part to usher in a new world out of the ashes of the old,” states Loving.
